https://www.rawstory.com/2017/11/education-officials-expect-ineffective-betsy-devos-to-step-down-as-her-agenda-collapses-report/

One problem with implementing her plan is that public schools receive very little of their funding from the federal government. Another is her overall unpopularity and ineffectiveness.

Her first budget proposal for the department — one which would have slashed funding from multiple school programs and reapportioned that money to DeVos’ pet cause, “school choice” — was rejected by Congress. Now, with her agenda on the rocks and morale at the Education Department cratering, some predict that DeVos may return to the private sector sooner than she’d planned.

It seems as if DeVos' only goal was to roll back any and all protections for students, particularly when it came to those for-profit schools that are little more than certificate mills.

It would be great if she could resign before inflicting yet more damage. She can return to her Clockwork Orange style experimental institutions that she was doing previously.

So apparently, Brazile is now trying to refute today's trending headlines by furiously retweeting everyone who criticized the sentiment posited in the Politico article.

Your comment the other day about Trump bringing back the 30's cracked me up too, in a dark humor kind of way. In these dark days I appreciate your low key humor.

The one thing I like about the Republican tax plan is the cap on the mortgage tax deduction.  The mortgage deduction is a regressive part of the tax code and should only exist if there is a concession to people who can't afford to own, imo.

This tweet thread debunks all of Brazile's trash from this morning. The Hillary Victory Fund was nothing more than Hillary raising money for down ballot races. Something Bernard Sanders was NOT doing. Bernie actually cost these state parties valuable time and resources by staying in the race because Hillary could not give them anything until she was the presumptive nominee. Bernie is a selfish [!@#$%^&*] and I wish he'd go away.

Generally speaking, Berniebots can be as oblivious to the truth as Trump Nation.  And they wouldn't care.  (And when I say "generally speaking," that's what I mean.  There ARE exceptions, after all.)  They'd follow Bernie to the GOP if he was inclined to go there.

This is actually good. Almost every candidate endorsed by Bernie loses. He's ballot box poison.

The Republican Governors Association has been all over this story because they WANT Bernie to endorse Northam because they know it will hurt his campaign. Frankly, I'm surprised Bernie didn't endorse him out of spite like he did Ossoff. I'm hoping we can keep his crusty ass out of the Alabama Senate race too.

http://thehill.com/homenews/news/358620-doj-alleges-aclu-misled-government-about-timing-of-teens-abortion

The DOJ is saying the ACLU misled them about when that South American girl who needed the abortion was scheduled.  The government was going to go for a stay.  This is really infuriating to me.  The poor thing had the procedure at 4:30 in the morning because these ridiculous politicians and their minions have to impose their will on women's bodies. Thank goodness she was able to get it done.

    • BITD I was posting about how interesting it was that Denise had been with this same guy for simply years but they just did not marry - then that year they married!
    • Random takes from this week: - Bill’s been played way too soft by the actor. I just can’t buy him doing anything truly sinister. I wish he had more of that old-school Victor Newman edge. - On characterization: I’m fine with Leslie being shown as a narcissistic and cruel mother—as long as she doesn’t tip into full cartoon villain territory. Dani’s involvement in Nicole’s storyline feels natural to me, and I really like that Martín is such a hothead, which totally clashes with his polished political career. No wonder no one wants to confide in him. Also, I don’t mind Haley’s characterization at all. - I’m still annoyed they dropped the whole lawsuit storyline. That’s why I’m a bit hesitant about getting too invested in the June plot. Also: I can do without another instant-sibling storyline. - Ashley and Derek? Totally fine with them in small doses. That’s the best way to handle those two. - Thank God Ted is getting recast. I honestly couldn’t handle that constant swaying much longer. - Speaking of Ted: maybe I’m in the minority here, but that hotel set is hideous. The oversized boiserie makes everything look flat, and that artwork on the wall? Bland, ugly, and lifeless. - I’m 50/50 on the product placement. On one hand, it’s totally misplaced and campy—especially when it shows up in the middle of emotional scenes. It just feels wrong. But on the other hand… here we are talking about Febreze and Tide. So maybe it is working? I honestly don’t know. - I don’t have any issues with the fashion on the show overall, but André’s wardrobe is just off. Not in terms of style, but size. His tops are way too tight and actually make him look even shorter than he is. Same goes for Smitty. Both of them would seriously benefit from some larger blazers or chunkier sweaters.
