this is the one question I'm asking myself right now. every time this person comes in here, people respond....exactly what this person wants.

LEAVE THIS PERSON ALONE AND MOVE ON. Why is that so difficult?! this person is a damn troll. adds NOTHING at all.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_strategy

As the Civil Rights Movement and dismantling of Jim Crow laws in the 1950s and 1960s visibly deepened pre-existing racial tensions in much of the Southern United States, Republican politicians such as presidential candidate Richard Nixon and Senator Barry Goldwater developed strategies that successfully contributed to the political realignment of many white, conservative voters in the South to the Republican Party that had traditionally supported the Democratic Party.[4] It also helped push the Republican Party much more to the right.[4]

This is going to sound mean but I don't believe that that #1 Troll is who they claim to be.  Sorry but I don't believe you. I'm going to use a phrase that Trumpists like to use "Picture... or it [your claim] doesn't exist".

FYI folks there are many 'fake Black people' trolling around on social media so I think I have a right to be suspicious of someone who has posted about the stock market incessantly but shows absolutely no knowledge or facility of the issues that have affected Black people in this country or worldwide.

Sorry but I don't buy it. At all. Call me a 'Doubting Thomas' if you must.

Most of that was before 1965 and the passing of the Voting Rights and Civil Rights acts which LBJ acknowledged would lose the southern states for the democrats for at least one generation. So stop parroting the points relative to the party when it wqas actually reasonable and believed that public policy could help people. Corporate taxes under Eisenhower was also around 75% so are you advocating for those policies, policies under Roosevelt and Eisenhower which helped elevate the middle class?

Educate yourself and read about the Southern Strategy.

My fault. I take the blame. But it is evidence of ignorance and that they could care less about what the GOP stands for today. White men and corporations. How sad that they have done nothing in terms of public policy since Eisenhower but hey if Eisenhower is the prototype, can we get the 75% tax rate on businesses again?

The snippet I posted this morning was just a piece of the Trump administration's "policy" in Africa, which is unsettling officials in the Pentagon and African leaders alike.

It is clear that Trump wants a militaristic policy in Africa that diminishes humanitarian and developmental aid, which, even the generals fear will hurt American interests long term.

African leaders fear that this emphasis on military-heavy policies over developmental will lead of higher unemployment and a ripe opportunities for militant groups to recruit jobless young men (and women).

    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.
