I had started to tune him out more often due to his stance on Muslims.  But after this latest incident, he's off my watch list altogether and I think you've hit in the nail in the head here.  This IS a perfect example of white privilege (as if we were in need of another, but some still refuse to admit it exists).  If this were a POC they wouldn't have been given another chance.

No offense to you OR your brother, but I'd love to see his reaction the day his bosses inform him that he's being replaced by robots.

His reasoning: if we DON'T give people like Borat Milo a platform, then free speech is in danger, and so, too, is America.

And I'd agree with him...if we didn't live in a society where filth like that has no trouble at all getting across his message, corrosive as it is, to like-minded souls.

C'mon, Mr. Maher, call it what it is: a ratings grab.  You want to bring back Milo because you KNOW that brings ratings to your show and keeps your obnoxious behind in the spotlight; and in a way, that's about as putrid as the bilge water Milo spews on a regular basis.

They've stuffed all that Christian doctrine in order to go for the Cash Grab!

When I heard that Jim Bakker had climbed out of his dark hole to say something supportive of Trump, I knew that Mango Mussolini had brought all the greedy sleazeballs out from under their rocks.

No offense taken :-)

I had forgotten about Bakker.  Thanks for reminding me (I think LOL) - it gives me another reason to despise the Persimmon Overlord ( @ Mango Mussolini)

I doubt that. This is the difference between open and closed hearings. A lot of things are just not going to be discussed on open hearings because they are classified or bump up against national security. When you hear "I'm not going to answer that" you should mentally add "...in an open hearing."

Democrats should be talking about Kansas nonstop as an example of failed economic policy and they should be doing it in the simplest possible terms. "Republicans always screw up the economy. Just look at Kansas." "Tax cuts don't work. Just look at Kansas." "They tried that in Kansas and look what happened."  When it comes to talking about economic policy, we should talk about Kansas the way the right wing likes to talk about Chicago and Detroit. Especially now when the Repubs are trying to tout their "tax reform."

I hope Gillibrand and Harris run.

Warren is too partisan and polarizing. I think the GOP are actually hoping she'll be the nominee.

You know I have been trying to be positive in terms of the democrats nationally. Locally people are energized and local races have been successful here. Statewide it's likely Illinois is going to go back all blue next year, but I am extremely disappointed in the route the national party has taken. Or not taken. Maybe I am expecting too much, but why are they wasting time on "Unity Tours" and not working on messaging. Ossoff's debate performance by the way was fantastic. Whether it matters or not who knows. But the Kansas experiment, how the state elected real moderate GOPers to overturn the Brownbeck agenda, should be hammered time and time again. And I feel the national party is too busy trying to unite people who don't care about this crap versus working on their messaging.

IMO the unity tour was an experiment to see if there was a way to heal the rift. It was an abysmal failure but necessary. I think the lines are pretty clear now between Bernie and the Democrats. Ever since then with the exception of a minimum wage bill, Bernie's pretty much been left to his own devices.

I think messaging has gotten way better. The strategy seems to be for everyone to talk about certain issues like health care or climate change but to tailor it to their constituencies. For example all the Dems are talking about climate change but in different ways. Some reps talk about their states agreeing to abide by the accords. In Ohio, MI, Pennsylvania, etc the focus is on the Great Lakes (Trump's budget cut Great Lakes funding by 97 percent.) and the economic benefit of green energy (which is why Donnie taking a shot at Pittsburgh was perfect). Out west like the talking point seems to be about protecting public lands.

Same for health care. Discussion of health care is about single payer in some states. In Appalachian states Dems always bring the health care issue back to opiates and prescription drugs. Even the Republicans have been forced to talk about health care in those terms. In states that didn't expand Medicaid the focus is on that program and possible cuts.

While all this is going on you have a small handful of Dems (Waters/Cummings/Franken/Schiff) who keep mentioning Russia and others in safe blue states  who have found their niche trolling Donnie on Twitter like Ted Lieu and Bill de Blasio.

Democrats will never have a message as simplistic as Republicans because we're a coalition but I think the party has made real strides.

I enjoyed their individual scenes with other characters before they all came together at the Pub to commiserate over their relationships with Sami. I thought that was broken down pretty well. I just wish it had gone on a little longer. And I actually found it kinda funny too lol it seemed more mature than what we're used to. That's the kind of humor that should be on a soap. But I'm not really sure about all this talk of Dante Vitali and Sami's engagement though, especially since it doesn't look like Ali Sweeney is coming back anytime soon. What's the point of it all if we're (probably) not going to see it? It also looked like today was the first round of Brady vs. Xander as well lol I enjoyed their fight, and I'm interested in seeing this storyline play out. Even though I'm sure that Sarah will ultimately go back to Xander in the end, I'd like to see what happens along the way, and how they and everyone around them are affected by this. Btw, Theo and Jada? Idk. I still think he had the most chemistry with Arianna. And he was a bit of a dick too. It also seemed a little out of character for Jada for her to be so OK with him being such a dick  And though Alex and Stephanie were very boring again and need much better conflict than this book stuff, I am interested in the mystery of who's targeting Alex.  And yeah, I know this is a nitpick, but why is the Square still open after the gala? Isn't it supposed to be really late at night?
    • In fairness, Hillary and Bob Woods were thick as thieves again at least by the end of OLTL. But both she and I believe Mark Derwin not so subtly dissed Kale Browne in the oral history, lol.

Does anyone have screenshots of it?
    • Geez, I hadn't heard that Doctors story. HBS really did go through it.
    • No offense to the actors involved, but dear God in heaven: I don't know HOW viewers managed to get through that storyline with Maggie, Frank, Cal and baby Jill without running into oncoming traffic.  Then, to make matters worse, they dragged poor Diana into the mess!  I don't care WHO gets that damn baby!  Just wrap it up and move ON already!
    • Poor HBS.  To have to put up with Stephen Burleigh, who stuck his knee between her legs while rehearsing a love scene on THE DOCTORS, then told the director that's what he did with his wife; Kincaid, who had more hair on his chest and upper lip than Koko the Gorilla; Kale Browne, who taped his lines all over the OLTL studio floor, because he couldn't ever be bothered to [!@#$%^&*] memorize them; and Robert S. Woods, who apparently thought it was still 1979 and that he was still smolderingly sexy, so why should Bo Buchanan be stuck being in a happy marriage with Nora?  After all that, no wonder she jumped at the chance to play a lesbian on VENICE, lol.
    • @Maxim Thank you for the mini-review and clip from several pages ago. I appreciate you using the Bo/Alex clip as them meeting again by this point was a real surprise to me. The scene has some layers, getting a glimpse of Alex genuinely wanting the best for Bo rather than gloating. I was disappointed it ended with Tina dragging her out of the room for some much less interesting sparring (I did enjoy Alex pointing out just how quickly Tina got over Cord).
