I loved Kenny and Ginger's pad. I thought it fit them well; and I actually stole some ideas for my first apartment lbvs. Yes, I had some bean bags too!

That's true. They do mirror each other.

Ha! That was a great arc for them. I happen to always liked them on the show. Ginger was a goldmine sitting on ready, and they could have gotten a lot more outta Kenny if they only pretend they cared to write for him.

Yep, I've also wondered if the original treatment that Jacobs presented to CBS only initially had the Fairgate, Avery and Ward households and that he just tacked on the Ewings when CBS wanted to spin off Dallas. I think they early on tried to do slightly "youth" focused storylines with the Wards, but I think because they couldn't really fully separate Ewings / Wards by an age difference (the Wards being obviously in their 20s still) it just never quite worked out for them since Ewings just inherited the "young married couple" thing (despite Val and Gary being in their early to mid-30s but don't tell Joan Van Ark that).

David Jacobs said Joan asked "How old is she supposed to be" ? ......LOL Joan said she saw the first 5 episodes of Dallas when it aired and loved it. So she would have known that Lucy was a teen when she agreed to take the role.

Joan was born in 1943 and would have been 35 in 1978. Her daughter Vanessa was born in 1969.

Maybe Kenny and Ginger would have lasted longer if they had a more loving marriage?  A better contrast to the Ewings as newlyweds and the troubles of the Avery and Ewing households, and the family squabbles of the Fairgates.

A really passionate, deeply in love pair of younger characters getting to experience all those marriage firsts might have worked out better in the long run.  Although I think Kenny would have to be recast for that. To me they just kind of drift along until they are gone.

It seems like everything is on streaming these days....except Knots Landing. Does anyone know what the hold up might be? Is it a rights issue?

I’ll take what I can get, but I hope they do a complete series Blu-ray for both series. Streaming has proven to be so unreliable so I’d much rather have a physical copy.

Licensing and profit, etc.  Dallas is a bigger pull than Knots at the end of the day.  If Dallas' debut, in HD (and 16:9) is a success on Max, Warner Bros. will likely plan on Knots for 2024/2025.  There was discussion of a remaster, but nothing set in stone.

I want the blu rays as well. I bought the entire series of Dallas from iTunes and could not be happier. I'm going to do the same with Knots when it becomes available.

The person on the Dallas forum who was involved in the Dallas remaster said the Knots remaster is already ongoing. I believe WB is going to remaster their entire back catalog, but we’ve gotten hints that like Dallas, something is coming imminently for Knots.

When I made my first comment about this, that's what I was hearing. I didn't want to be specific because things can take time, and we could be waiting until 2025 or later before it becomes available. But ultimately, I was told a deal was finally made to make the show available. What I don't know is where or when.

    • But that's not weird... nail polish is allowed in prisons via commissary. Same with general makeup, haircuts, and hair colouring products.
    • This is DAYS, the show that said you could brainwash anyone with simple kitchen appliances.  An actor's nail polish or lack thereof should be the least of our concerns, lol.
    • It was not that she wasn't wearing nail polish, it is that she managed to get a manicure in prison
    • "We're Knot Done Yet": the name of this lovely podcast AND what JVA tells her plastic surgeon at every appointment. In other news, Michele Lee is reminding me more and more of my old music teacher from elementary school, and I couldn't STAND that bitch.
    • I apologize if this has been covered already, but does anyone know whether Douglas Marland was HW'ing by that point?  If he was, then I see what he meant when he said (in so many words) that he had inherited a mess when he started at GH.  Aside from Alan and Monica, none of that material seems very promising.  The story with Mark Dante and the Corbins is the wrong kind of predictable (y'know, the kind where you know what's going to happen, but you just don't give a crap?), the stuff with Scotty and Laura is cute but toothless, I don't know WHAT the hell Gina and Steve Carlson's character are arguing about and Rick Webber has to be the dumbest man alive not to see David Hamilton practically twirling his moustache over how to make a killing off Lamont Corbin's declining health.  (By the way, "LAMONT CORBIN"?  What is this, "The Shadow"?  And "Corbin Limited" sounds like some jive I'd hear over on Y&R.) In a way, it's kind of like watching today's GH, right down to the dialogue that's serviceable and pushes plot along but says nothing about the characters' inner lives.
    • It absolutely was; the narrative was there, and they followed it promptly. Maybe that's back when women had babies at young ages?!?!?

    • Thanks for asking that!  Back when we had another major event upcoming (a party or the concert), I had intended to ask what everyone here was planning to wear.

    • Lol. Right?  I mean the show could have framed the 60th anniversary in a different way, but the narrative was celebrating Tom and the hospital. Also, what a weirdly sexist bunch of posts about women's nail polish.  Like, yes, this is Days problem lol.  Stacy Haiduk isn't a good Kristen because she doesn't wear nail polish?  Are we in the 1950's???
