Higley Quit DAYS?

That's pretty juicy! Why can I not muster even a tiny ounce of sympathy for Dena? I really am a compassionate person and I know that she's a good person who has overcome hardships and done many good deeds (and for that I admire her), but I just looked deep inside my heart and . . . nothing with Higley's name on it resides there as far as her trials and tribulations as a headwriter are concerned.

That's a teensy bit extreme, don't you think? The rest of their lives? I have enough things to be ashamed about IRL and lying on my death bed one day -- this will not be one of them.

I have always thought Ed Scott was technically an excellent producer. Stephen Nichols' blog also talked about how he stepped in when he was first hired and improved scenes and got the younger newbie actors to step up to the plate acting-wise. If this is a bad thing, what is the point of even producing?

I think somebody needs to explain to me what exactly Ed Scott did which was so illegal, because I don't understand the full import of Nelson's column. When Tony Geary and Genie Francis used to improvise scenes under Gloria MOnty and later Claire Labine, everybody ran around saying they -- and GH -- were f*cking geniuses. Days has vets who have been there forever and know their character better than any of the newbie writers who are parachuted in to "save the show" with little clue as to what Days is about. So why shouldn't they contribute or collaborate in the crafting of their character?

Honestly, I just want an explanation. Is it to do with union rules and regulations?

IMHO, MBE & SN are obviosu choices as to people whpo have done this. But again, i dont blasme them. They were not only allowed but encourged to.

as for NB - when BD came back after lucas got out of jail he did that interview saying there was a woman that would enter Lucas' life. so... idk. i wouldnt say chloe came out of nowhere.

Hmmm..so the questions are will

Ed Scott be removed as EP?

Will Dena Higley be wooed back by Corday?

Who are the actors involved?

And what west coast is having the same problems?

So much juicy stuff. :o

Oh, OK, thanks.

But when Tony Geary, Maurice Benard, Steve Burton et al., do improv or order scenes to be rewritten over at GH... that's totally fine and within the legal parameters, correct?

I blame the entire industry.

To let actors dictate what will be written on a show.......that is most unprofessional.

But......even though on one stance I see where Dena is coming from (if the actors were throwing out all of her material with the EP's permission, she may have the right to be upset) her coming on as HW cost the previous writing team their jobs.

For that.......I can't have any sympathy.

as far as i know its one thing to chnage lines around and do some improve and another to rewrite the entire script.

it seems like there is proof scott and a few actors/actress did a lot more then edit some lines around. he had a line in there about the proof.

OK soap actors, we need to have a talk. STOP DICTATING STORY. [!@#$%^&*], now I know why Irna Phillips practically considered actors to be cattle. IMO, she would be APPALLED by the star status that soap actors have these days because, in her mind, the star was the show itself, the ensemble. As much as I hate to defend some rather heinous writers, writing a soap by commitee is even worse than having one writer screwing things up. At least in the latter situation, we know who to blame.

    • Pretty accurate but I feel like most fans complain about the opposite of #2: they want more fresh blood. I myself do prefer the vets, but they're not sidelined... they don't have story but that's because no one has story. They get plenty of airtime though. That one feels more like a generic soap viewer complaint. The rest of this is very on point.
    • If this was a Ron episode, Sarah’s choking would’ve lasted almost the entire episode. Javi being revealed as a firefighter EMT and Sarah chastising Xander for wanting to go after Chanel/Sweet Bits the cliffhanger. I’m glad there’s actual movement and progression in these episodes. I vaguely remember Cwikly and Brash tenure being the same with their daily episodes
    • https://www.tvinsider.com/1180503/denise-alexander-dead-general-hospital-lesley-webber Denise Alexander died March 5th & I'm so sad.  The first soap storyline I remember was Susan Hunter Martin (Denise Alexander) & David Martin & Julie Olson & poor little baby Dickie on DAYS.  I followed her to GH, Lesley.  I followed her to AW, Mary/Marisa.  I followed her back to GH.  About her, Christopher Schemering said  In soap magazine polls she was voted Best Actress over & over.  Schemering, C. (1987). The Soap Opera Encyclopedia. Ballantine Books.
    • Good point. In addition to being a great character in her own right, she had chemistry with almost everyone on the show. A Jake/Paulina/Iris triangle would have been a lot of fun. If 1994 AW aired in 2025, I doubt Iris would have even considered to be on the chomping block. All the shows now are noticeably less youth obsessed compared to the 90s.
    • I wrote my previous post about Dante being on a 3-day rant while I was at the 30-minute mark of the show. By the end, Dante was back to being reasonable and kind and understanding of everyone and everything. OK, I get it. We all knew that sooner or later we'd get the wise Dante. The mistake was showing him berate Jason IN THE SAME EPISODE and imply he's a lousy father.
    • I think Dante has a larger GH fanbase than both Ava and Nina character wise.  Both CW and MW have a built in fanbase outside GH which isn't really indictive of the characters, IMO.
    • Just this fan's opinion but I have said these writers are the most plot opportunistic maybe ever! They will have any character say just about anything if it advances whatever plot point they have in their minds atm. I think if Dante's POV right now was defensible people would be running it up the flag pole. The fanbase thing you're describing to me it just means they're going to continue to like their fave no matter what.
    • I think the difference between the head writer change at Days vs GH is that the day to day episode quality at GH was still lacking while the day to day episode quality has improved. And now that there appears to be some depth to the episode content... the limitations of some of the performers on Days is more apparent (i.e. Leo, Alex, Sophia, Cat). However, Rome wasn't built/rebuilt in a day so I'm waiting to see how things are in three to four months once some of the threads/stories from Ron's era are tied up/resolved.. and Ford/Cwikly's long term content kicks off
    • That would be me. hehe. Keeping track of who I liked better and how it informed what would happen from episode to episode.
