Y&R Discussion for the Week of 08/14-08/18

I thought I'd make a discussion thread about the entire week of Y&R..... :)

I for one feel so much sadness that John won't make it. The Katherine/John and the Jill/John scenes were very special to see...I never knew that Katherine and John were friends way back during their young adult years.....

Dru sure was guzzling down that wine.....So tired of Devon and his constant need to put in his two cents in everything that is involving Dru and Neil. First off, it's their business and their mess they have to deal with; not him. He just needs to back off and find a girlfriend.

Can't wait till they end this stupid storyline about Brad/George (whatever they are calling him these days)...I already know that once they get Sharon back, she's going to dog Nick out and try her best to play on Brad's sympathy for her. I wish they would wisen Victoria up so she can pop the mess out of her sister-in-law for always trying to play the damsel in distress for a man's attention.

I am PISSED that they are killing off John.

I wanted him to do his time, and then find out how wrong he had been. That he had gone to jail protecting a piece of TRASH that damn near destroyed his LIFE'S WORK. I wanted John to wisen up that he had been played for a fool by that lowlifemurderousDOG he married named Gloria.:angry:

And, I wanted the satisfaction to see him throw her back to the gutter where she belongs.

Sharon didn't ask to be kidnapped. It's not fair that her character is always getting crapped on to prop up baby Brangelina.

But yes, George/Brad is soooooooooooo boring.

I'm only hooked on the John story.

Ooooohhhh....Ashley and Kevin just had a moment.

Whenever I think of Jill, I instantly think Gloria's just like her.

Whatever Y&R.

I don't think I'm going to come out of this loving Gloria or her pansy ass son any more than I already do.

Loved the Kay/John and Jill/John scenes. It's always nice to see characters interact that haven't been on screen together in a while. Why all the hate for Gloria? She is his wife after all. Yes, at the beginning she married the man for his money, but I believe she truely loves him. I like the moment Kevin and Ashley shared. I want them to have a brother/sister relationship. Jack is such a pompess ass. I hate him so bad.

Drucilla was really getting her drank on. She was downing those glasses like there was no tomorrow. Devon is his usual boring, doom and gloom self. They need to send this boy away to college or get him some nookie quick. He's so uptight.

I couldn't give a damn about the whole Brad's history storyline. I'm already bored. This just isn't Y&R. Watching Nicholas on some mission with Paul, trying to save a kidnapped Sharon, across the globe. What are we watching, Days of our Lives? That's the impression I got today. Y&R, do what you do best, stick to Genoa City and the board rooms. Adventure type storylines are not your thang.

Brad's story is really FF-able to me. It's awful.

As much as it is sad to see Douglas and John go, I applaud Y&R for this story. Sure I am new to Y&R, but Y&R is really proving why it is the highest rated soap, as it did with Cassie's death.

Soaps can be as outlandish and ridiculous and campy as they want to be, but when it comes down to it, soaps are, or at least, should be about the stories of OUR lives - not these outrageous evil twin/back from the dead/baby snatching stories that no one can relate to.

Y&R aims for the head, the heart, and the gut. Who has not lost someone they loved? Or felt or seen firsthand the effects of losing a loved one can have? Sure, John is a historical character on Y&R, and Douglas is a great actor, but it's stories like this that make soaps soaps because we can actually watch and say "God, I lived through this! and now, my favorite characters are too!"

I just love Y&R. Getting into this show was the best soap move I've made in YEARS.

I guess I'm the only one who is really enjoying the Brad/George storyline. I hate the way the characters are ALWAYS at work/in the board room. It's nice to see them get out.

As for the Jill/John and Katherine/John scenes, they were great. I'm glad the writers let them both have a final goodbye, sharing memories. I liked it.

I just couldn't help myself: One of the first times I've ever fast forwarded through scenes on Y&R. They were the scenes with Dru and Devon. I believe that was completely filler. I couldn't care less about the Dru/Neil storyline.. if you can even call it a storyline.

All in all, a great show today.

KR, I can relate to you. After watching Days of Our Lives for 3 straight years (even though I still love it), I felt it was time to watch another soap. So, I picked Y&R. And, you wonder why they have the highest ratings out of all of daytime. I've only begun watching it about 2 months ago, and I am so glad I did! I love this show!

In some ways, I have to disagree with Jill saying that Gloria reminds her of how she used to be...Yeah, maybe if Joan Van Ark was still in the role; but not Judith Chapman's Gloria....

I'm very disappointed that they are killing John off and doing it in such a rush too; especially when they have so many people out....Victor of all people should be front and center, along with Colleen, Neil, Dru, and a few other people.

Once this whole Brad crap is over with, it's going to be boring all over again; Nick will be trying his hardest to get in the good graces of Sharon; Phyllis will be competing to get Nick to focus on their love child; Sharon will continue to eyeball Brad; and Victoria will still remain clueless about it all.

I actually liked the Ashley/Kevin moment.

I also really enjoyed the Kevin/Ashley scenes.

I know this is off-topic, but nice banner, SweetNYGal!

LOL! Yeah, that banner is funny. At first, I was like, I know she didn't put Gloria in her signature...

I loved the scenes with Katherine and Jill in the room with John. Y&R writers, do you not see what fine actresses you have in Jeanne Cooper and Jess Walton? Give them a freakin' story. And don't you dare compare Jill and Gloria again. Jill was never a maniacal, over-the-top skin cream killer!

I hate that they're rushing through killing John off, too. You have Brad, Colleen off chasing or running away from Nazis, Victor down on the farm, Nikki staying with her sister. There's too many people not around.

This reliquary crap is going on forever. Please. Put me out of my misery.

I loved Victoria Rowell in her nice, quiet, subdued scenes. It was kinda different.

I wouldn't mind John dying so much if it didn't come out of left field. A couple of months ago, he started having memory loss. Then, it clered up. He has been seen sparingly since, and now in the last week he has a mini stroke, a massive stroke, and will pass away. I still love this show, but it just needs to slow down and catch its breath.

And, the second John dies, I hope Jack picks Gloria up and throws her right out the damn window, along with that little knat-ass son of hers. Damn, I can't stand those two!

When I found the picture, I HAD to make a banner making fun of her....That's why I made sure to put the note underneath.....

I think this is going to bring Gloria even closer to the kids. It is John's dying wish, it seems?

But see, KR, th reason why alot of us are pissed is because she is the reason a woman dies earlier this year, and she did it behind the kids' backs. When that comes out, I wonder how close they will be. The big thing is we don't know if they are going to sweep that under the rug.
