Y&R Discussion for the Week of 08/14-08/18

Hi, DruRocks and Welcome!

I was rolling my eyes in disbelief the other day after seeing Vicky with that thing on her head, while she was trying to replicate that reliquary they are looking for. This story involving Brad/George started out pretty good, but to me it's turned out to be a major let down. G.I. George is getting on my last nerves....

Are we sure that JER isn't Ghostwriting for Y&R?

It's hard to get invested in any of the storylines lately since they seem so rushed, at the rate Y&R is going one has to wonder how long John's death will effect the Abbott's and etc.......

This story having to do with John and the Abbotts isn't making me to happy either.......It would have been better if John had been able to get out of prison, gotten to enjoy being home for awhile, and then have the health crisis that is going on now occur.......

It makes me sick that John's last able bodied moments were in that nasty prison, it's a horrid way for a beloved character with such a rich history with the show to go.....

I want to put Gloria on a slow boat to china with nothing but the clothes on her back, she is an annoying money hungry Skin Cream Killer who needs to pay for what she has done. John's death doesn't make me feel even an ounce of sympathy towards Gloria.....

The people I do feel sympathy for are the REAL Abbotts, Jill, Katherine, and anyone else who isn't Gloria.....

I hated seeing Dru all mopey today over that pathetic loser Neil. And please give Devon a damn hobby that boy gets more annoying everyday. Ship him and his imaginary friends off to college already.

Welcome and AMEN. :D

I kinda understand where Neil is coming from. He was lied to for 18 years about something very serious. There is no reason he should believe Dru when she said she was drugged. Sure WE believe her because we saw it, but if that was the case why did it take her 18 years to tell the truth? Very difficult situation.

See I don't feel as if Dru lied for 18 years, more like the last one. She honestly hoped and needed to believe in her head that the baby was Neils. She didn't really find out until they had the paternity test done.

It is a difficult situation, but Neil isn't even stopping to consider how secretly bitter Malcolm was toward him, how he wanted Dru and everything else he had as the "perfect" brother. He just wants to push it all on Dru, not even bothering to find his brother, who also lied to him by omission. He never said anything either, it wasn't just her. I feel sorry for Dru. Yeah, Neil is a victim in this, but so was she. She was molested in her sleep. It gave her her only daughter and in the end cost her her husband. Its a shame.

It makes me sick that John's last able bodied moments were in that nasty prison, it's a horrid way for a beloved character with such a rich history with the show to go.....

I agree, this is pathetic. Lets just get rid of a beloved character for further Gloria propping and redemption. All the Baldwin/Fisher redemption on this show is begining to make me ill. They can do anything and its okay. And jeez, shame on the people that they hurt for not liking them.

I loved the scenes with Katherine and Jill in the room with John. Y&R writers, do you not see what fine actresses you have in Jeanne Cooper and Jess Walton? Give them a freakin' story. And don't you dare compare Jill and Gloria again. Jill was never a maniacal, over-the-top skin cream killer!

As usual, we couldn't agree more. :)

I'm still wayyyy behind (about 2 weeks LOL!) current episodes and was shocked to hear that the relic hunter plot is still going on. WTF!? They rushed over the REAL SECRETS of Brad's past in 5 seconds (HUH????) and now it's all about some hooky spooky Nazis who got JT (KEEP HIM!!!) and Sharon.

All this gets worse because I fear this whole plot will eventually turn into another round of this redundant Nick/Phyllis crap. Coming close to losing Sharon, Nick's dick eh feelings make a u turn and he suddenly returns to wife and child only to hit the sheets with Phyllis again some days later. Just speculation on my part but don't say in two weeks I didn't warn you.

I love Dru and the bottle of wine. I say let him go girl and find someone new who will appreciate you for you.

The Abbots well it is going to be very sad. I loved the interaction between Kevin and Ashley. I know Gloria has done some bad stuff but I do beleive she loves John.

I FF threw the Brad storyline cause there are too many dam holes in this storyline.

So, I just got to watch Monday's finally! Jill and Kay were awesome. They need to get Jill frontburner ASAP. Jess Walton rocks!

I'm just going to say this about Tuesday's episode:

Pay attention to the way Billy glares down the Fisher family....it's AWESOME!!!

If they keep Billy on, I do hope they have him beat the crap down out of Kevin...he needs to be knocked off that perch he's sitting on.

I have a question about Billy:

Wasn't Billy on the show during the time that Kevin started stalking and terroizing Lily and Colleen?

I could have sworn that he was.

^Nope Billy was already long gone around mid July in 2003 I believe.

Today's show, enjoyed any and everything Abbotts.

Happy the Brad storyline is over already!!!!!

I hope that we won't have to hear another word about that freakin' reliquary again. Sheesh! I guess we'll be going back to the sextet (is it still a sextet... let me see, there's Nick, Sharon, Phyllis, Brad, Victoria, maybe Jack...) from hell. So, does this bring Nick back with Sharon or not? The preview at the end of the show had Nick talking about taking Phyllis's clothes off. LOL!

The writing and the acting have been great with the scenes at John's bedside this week. Although, I wish they would have Jill, Kay, Jack, etc. talk about stuff that have happened on-screen instead of off-screen. Surely, with over twenty years on the show each, there's plenty of great moments to reminisce about, and it would be a great for long-time viewers to remember, too. I'm sure there will be flashbacks, though.

The Winters have become the poster family for family games. LOL!

Have you noticed how Gina always knows everything and assumes whoever she's talking to knows also, and just blabs it? You don't need the newspaper in Genoa City, just head down to the GCAC and dish with Gina Roma.

New Billy and Gloria should have a stare-down battle! LOL!

I was like WTH is Brad doing? Karate Kid he ain't, I'll tell you that.....Just glad that it's over....and in the previews, Brad still has the NERVE to try to boss folks around by keeping them from telling that his butt's name isn't Brad... At this point, who cares about BRAD, except Sharon and Victoria.

Dru sure was enjoying that wine..... At first I thought Devon was going to tell her to go easy...

Love me some Dru, though. I absolutely loved the flashback scene where she was dressed in her kimono and had her hair up; wish I had a picture of that because she was looking fierce.

I guess now that the danger of Sharon is over, Nick will once again run back to Phyllis as if nothing happened...

Loved the scenes of Nikki at the hospital chapel....I really do think that they should have kept Victor there. I wonder with all this happening to John, if Jack will realize that he should stop with trying to undermind Victor while he's in that fragile state....

I absolutely loved the look on Billy's face when he looked at Michael and Kevin.

Jack, unfortunately, is going to be a man possessed. He will go after Gloria first, because he will blame her for John's death. Then he will go after Victor. Only after that will it finally hit him, that his father is gone, and he will then blame himself for John;s death. He will probably heep so much guilt on himself, he will drive himself to the brink. Only the love of his sister and family will pull him back. Then hopefully, he will finally become the man of the family.

And, since when did Brad/George turn into Neo from The Matrix? Now he knows martial arts? I expected him to start saying "Wax on, Wax Off" while he was beating the bad guy's ass.

The Winters have become the poster family for family games. LOL!

LOL, first scrabble and then a game of cards... makes me wonder if LML thinks that all black folks do in between their problems is play games. I don't know about the Winters, but in my family if someone suggests a game of spades/uno or dominoes; then someone's prepared to get disowned because they cheated.

I can't wait to see more of this Billy, I don't have instant dislike for this recast which is unusual.

And what was the point of Nick being involved of this Brad drama? The same things could have happened without him, as far as I'm concerned he's involved with something that didn't really concern him considering that he has already replaced Sharon in his life.

I found Gloria, with all the destruction that she's caused lately to "her" family, a bit laughable at the chapel.

Gloria was a hoot "God, I know I'm the last person you'd expect to hear from"

A part of me does believe she loves John, but how soon will it be before she has dollar signs flashing back in her eyes? Will she be all that appreciative when she sees all John's family there.

I have to add that I think Peter Bergman may just be the best actor on daytime.

I really like this new Billy. Did Billy and Gloria have any scenes together? I can't wait to see if they like each other.

Thankfully the Brad/George storyline is all done. It had a chance to be good but I think something was lost along the way and it became very awkward and confusing. The "fight" between Brad and the kidnapper ,well some things are better left unsaid. It was kind of a lame way to end this storyline.

They can keep cute Carmen (Come on Y&R. Keep Marisa Ramirez. She is a keeper and I'm more than happy to have her around) and dump that lame tattletail Devon. The young fellow who got upset because the Winters forgot his birthday and broke into the city zoo and got trapped in the lion's den, is the person who Dru shares her innermost thoughts with concerning her collapsing marriage. Maybe JER IS ghostwriting for Y&R these days. Who knows?

New Billy looked a little stiff to me today. But hopefully he shall loosen up as he gets used to being on a daytime soap opera. Given everything they have thrown at him to do I am not surprised that Peter Bergman doesn't get nominated for another daytime Emmy early next year. He gave a great performance today at John's bedside.
