  1. And I think out of those 3, the show they should've most copied from was DAYS, their sister soap. Wasn't GH starting to lose its luster around the time SB came on? I mean Luke and Laura, the main draws, were gone. And correct me if I am wrong (anyone), but I don't see many people raving about GH from the mid 80s to early 90s with the exceptions of Duke, Anna, Robert, and Holly at times. But I don't remember anyone raving about a major defining story during that stint, and most GH fans I've come across have expressed that the show didn't find its footing again until Wendy Riche took over GH. With DAYS, they churned out supercouples and big stories like it was nothing throughout the 80s. Even though the show delved into grand dramas, it still appeared to be grounded. And the cast as a whole was developed enough where you had leads and supporting--A, B, C, and D stories. I never got why Eden/Cruz and the perils of Kelly literally dominated. I think if the show was going to focus solely on the Capwells then maybe they should've taken the approach of B&B and simply been a 30 minute show with a smaller, tighter cast.
  2. I've mentioned this before in here, but I think SB's main problem was that anyone outside of Eden, Kelly, CC, Sophia, Cruz, Mason, Julia, and Gina were not developed much. The remainder of the cast (in the history of the show) mostly served as plot points. And I don't get why the Lockridges weren't a mainstay at the height of the show, or why their rivalry with the Capwells further exploited. To this day, I just wanna trek 2 hours from here to Atlanta and go meet the Dobsons and pick their brains. I wonder if they even have a story bible for SB b/c if they do, I'd want to read it. I doubt half the stories in the story bible even popped up onscreen. And if they didn't I want to know why not? Was it network interference? I think the reason why they weren't so chaotic on the P&G shows b/c during those times, it was apparent that P&G didn't play that mess and were heavily involved in their shows. Also, I the genre pre-Ice Princess (on GH) was rooted deeply in reality. From what I've seen of SB, it was like the Dobson were trying to take elements of what made GH and DAYS pop culture darlings and place them into their shows (i.e., supercouples being thrown into these grand, over-the-top adventures).
  3. I NEVER understood how GL went from Hold on to Love opening or the Lifesavers opening to that cheap mess that was the Microsoft Movie Maker intro. That mess was abysmal. Whoever greenlit that should've been stoned. I wasn't too keen on Only Love Can Save the World intro either. But that has Ellen Wheeler's stench all over that heap. Speaking of Wheeler, I will NEVER understand how her or Goutman, who both got their starts as actors on soaps, go on to be some of the worst EPs and eagerly destroy institutions. Yes, I get that network interference played a heavy role but ugh! Sometimes, some actors need to simply stick to actor or directing roles at the most. Not everyone is meant to lead an entire production.
  4. I'm sorry but unless Julia is going to deliver on the second cast trip, Guerdy should've been 2nd chair.
  5. I just don't get why she can't admit that she was wrong about the guy. Buckling down after proven to be wrong just makes you unlikeable. But whatever. Alexia is going to burn out quicker than she expects (with the audience) if she keeps it up. I don't even pay mind to Marysol. She's a one trick pony and a drunk as Nicole pointed out. Sometimes, I feel like Marysol is doing more than drinking (allegedly). They just opened the floodgates for Adriana to extract her fangs and go to work. They better remind themselves quickly of how Adriana used to thrash Joanna.
  6. Was this done before Mishael left the show?
  7. @j swift, see I loved the 99-02 opening theme. I found the shots with the white background cheap looking. I don't mind the intro beauty shots on soaps when they make sense and look nice. I always felt they should've kept the theme for 99-02 but changed the toilet flushing sound (i.e., the world spinning) and combined it with beauty shots/background from 02-06 intro. Or at least have the background of the cast shots with them in front of the world or space. I loved the '06 opening and theme but hated that they never gave the other half of the cast intro shots. It was basically an intro centered around Goutman/Passanante's faves and sprinkling in Bob/Kim/Lucinda to shut up us long-term fans. At this stage though, the remaining soaps (well B&B, GH, and Y&R) simply need to drop the beauty shots in their openings as they constantly have to change them.
  8. RHOP: All the women (except Cha-Cha) look really nice. FINALLY, Gizelle looks decent for a reunion. Hopefully, this is the start of her dressing better. RHOM: 10/10 yet again. This episode was the perfect melange of hilarity and heartbreak. Adriana's date was an ass, but Alexia deserved his venom. And what makes it worse is that the website did show he was divorced. Had she simply scrolled down instead of foaming at the mouth to have a moment, she wouldn't be looking like an idiot now. I think it is appalling that she felt she did not need to give Adriana an apology. Now any venom Adriana aims at Alexia is earned. The lunch had to be one of the best ensemble scenes on reality TV. Nicole paper bagged Larsa and Alexia with ease. And Marysol is a clown for trying to show that single DM from some random. If I were Nicole today, I'd be bringing up Larsa now banging MJ, Jr. all reunion long and asking has she been sleeping with him since childhood. Yep, I'd go there. Lenny v. Lisa... First off, Elle slapping Lisa like it was an episode of The Bold of the Beautiful... Elle is lucky Lisa ain't old school but that bottom would still be red today. However, I do believe that Elle is picking up on the tension within the household and is acting out. That breaks my heart. And just when I think Lenny couldn't go any lower, he does. He is literally the WORST husband to ever be on one of these shows.
  9. Goody! It wasn't just me. Only thing I hated about the intro was how cheap the shots were behind the white background. But I actually liked the theme and felt they should've swapped the toilet sound for the 80s intro sound (the starry sound) instead.
  10. Are you referring to GL's Disco theme and ATWT's toilet flush theme? If so, I actually liked both of them...🤐😆
  11. Even though those CBS promos predate me awhile (born in '88), I find myself always watching them on Youtube and being glad that I did still get to enjoy an era of daytime (90s through early 00s) where the networks invested money in promoting the shows. Sadly, they don't even have the budget it seems to make an effective promo let alone get music rights to popular songs anymore.
  12. OK. Glad to know that I'm not the only one that goes and listen to soap themes occasionally. It just feels refreshing, yet reminds me of all the great institutes that networks have gotten rid of b/c they want to make a quick buck.
  13. Not surprised if they fell out again. Candiace is a moron. For one, she can't be pissed that Karen remained with Monique. We all saw that Karen scolded Monique, BUT she also told her that she'd hold her hand throughout the process in getting help for her anger. That's what real friends do. Candiace is a fickle brat. I bet money she crawled back to Robyn as she yearns for her friendship for some reason. Plus, Candiace is under the grip of Charrisse too. Wendy, beware. She'll flip on you next.
  14. That's because both shows are a mess now. I know Bill is rolling in his grave because one thing he made a constant was that B&B/Y&R would maintain continuity when it came to anything consisting of Sheila. However, that all went out the window when they did that crappy Pheila story and followed up with Ryder and Daisy. You'd think with Brad bringing her back on B&B that he'd do some cleaning up involving her story and recapture the magic his father created by doing a crossover story with Sheila on both shows. It makes no sense that Lauren would not know about Sheila walking free once again. Not surprised. I hate when soaps just make characters insta-queer for shock value or a throwaway line. It is inconsiderate to those of us fans who are LGBTQ.
  15. So is it established as to whether Fen is gay or bisexual? And I have watched the show really in eons, was Fen established as part of the community from his last stint? Or was he made insta-queer in an attempt to generate some buzz as Zach Tinker (who is in a popular pairing on DAYS) reprising the role?
  16. Happy anniversary, Guiding Light! I so miss Springfield (much like Oakdale).
  17. Boooo!!! All the friends this season on SLC were crap from what I've seen of the clips. Bravo really needs to either scrap this show, plead with Mary to return to save this drivel, or recast altogether. Honestly, just send Meredith (as she's the least annoying of the remaining four) to the NYC reboot as she lives in NYC most of the year anyway. Heather, Whitney, and Lisa can blow in the wind.
  18. I do agree that Karen should've left the part out that the woman looked like her. She was just being extra. However, bloggers have posted pics of Juan with other women out and about for years. This is the main reason why people want Robyn gone. She's a hypocrite. How can she EVER twist her mouth to tell someone else to live their truth when she has never lived her truth? Bravo needs to give Penniless an ultimatum after this year--either get married and produce another story for next year or get fired. I am over Robyn getting a free ride on this show. And I knew that Juan was the man that Karen was hinting to earlier this season. I believe it because Karen has been saying for YEARS that she has intel on Juan and has been holding back. She keeps trying to spare Robyn, but Robyn keeps begging for Karen to unveil it all. I hope Karen gave her a good a** lashing at the reunion. I am not shocked about Wendy/Mia. It has been apparent that Mia had the hots for Wendy, hence why they clash. I am just stunned that Wendy bumped boxes with her. These women bust it wide open for any and everyone.
  19. Thanks @Chris B for the cliffs on the interview! Overall, if CBS is not going to allow the show to join the rest of us in the twenty-first century then cancel it. It is painful seeing these shows drag on their pending demise when they could still be profitable if they simply reverted back to what soaps used to be--the innovators of the industry. It is sad that streaming platforms literally make millions on soaps. Meanwhile, soaps are bleeding out.
  20. Miami: How Nicole handled Larsa was excellent. She gagged Larsa with ease. While Larsa feigned glee to be disinvited, I know deep down that it killed her to not go to that party. Speaking of the party, that was a well put together party. It was aesthetic pleasing to my eye. If the Miami girls know how to do anything, it is put on a lush party production. Nicole's dad flirting with Kiki...🤣 No one can blame him as Kiki is GORGEOUS but that exchange was so freaking odd. Why did this man think that Kiki was trying to call him "daddy?!" I do get Nicole's frustration with him as I have drunks in my family too. They tend to cling to the past (whether it was a good or bad era for them), and it is infuriating to everyone else around them as they are stuck in these instances that we'd wish they'd seek healthy counsel to let go and move on. Alexia is a moron for not seeing Nicole's side of the story in the situation. I agree with Nicole that had someone attacked Alexia's businesses (the beauty bar or when she ran that magazine with Herman), she would've went berserk. Like cut the crap and stop moving the goalpost b/c Larsa is an OG. What she said about Nicole was foul, and she needs to be taken to task for it. Nicole pegged her right by calling her an "arsonist." I hope Nicole, Julia, and Adriana wear her out at the reunion about her bedding MJ, Jr., having known that boy since he was a damn child. She will have earned it. I can't wait for next week when Adriana arrives and dispels the rumors about her man being married. I feel like that is going to lead to the upcoming feud between Las Cubanas v. The Brazilian Spitfire.
  21. Oh you know Kyle is somewhere sobbing right now.
  22. The sole reason why these shows need reestablish having a continuity writer. Isn't that Elizabeth Korte's role? Or once was?
  23. Nina would've gained my upmost respect had she told Weeping Willow to simply drop dead after Willow told her that nothing changes between them. You expect me to donate to save your life and you still act like a twat in return? Chile, bye. To the afterlife you shall go. Yes, I'm that petty.
