ALL: Sexiest men on soaps
In the past for sexiest men on soaps, Y&R in the second half of the 1990s. Shemar Moore at his peak hotness. Eric Braeden glowed up. Christian LeBlanc grew into his looks. Currently it's all about BtG. Sean Freeman the hotness of BtG and he's gotten hotter. Jibre Hordges is about to have a glow up. Brandon Claybon hasn't glowed up yet but he could. Clifton Davis I wouldn't consider him cute/hot/sexy but he has aged well.

Of the original actors that were the Brooks/Foster children, did you think any of them had primetime potential? James Houghton was part of the original cast of Knots Landing and had a short arc on The Colbys. Brenda Dickson in between her two runs was a guest star on Falcon Crest. Jaime Lyn Bauer got a short-lived primetime soap Bare Essence and made the guest star rounds (Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Hotel, Knots Landing) before returning to daytime on Days. William Gray Epsy remained on daytime (Another World) with some guest starring roles in between his daytime stints. Janice Lynde also remained on daytime (Another World, One Life to Life) with some guest starring roles before and after her daytime stints. Trish Stewart and Pamela Peters had some guest starring roles and that was it.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
The Day After still remains the highest-rated movie made for broadcast network television. I loved those miniseries based on best-selling novels. Too bad they are all relegated to Lifetime now.

A little over a month after The Winds of War, ABC would broadcast The Thorn Birds and that scored even higher.

The P&G shows were not in a good place creatively in June 1994 (the start of OJ). As we saw in the 1990s ratings thread, the P&G shows were the bottom tier by the end of 1995. The P&G shows were effectively over in the aftermath of OJ. In that same era CBS was dealing with losing affiliates in major media markets and the sale to Westinghouse. I believe the cancel rumors first started in the early months of 1995 but really intensified in 1996. 1995 and 1996 B&B looked like it was preparing to expand to 1 hour (I'm guessing the expansion was to coincide with the 10th anniversary in March 1997) but as we all know that didn't happen.

ALL: Proposed Soaps Over The Years
Neither did I. I have vague memories of remakes of The Love Boat and Fantasy Island in the late 1990s.

Y&R: Old Articles
That's right, today marks 46 years in the game. Maybe someday EB first episode will surface. It was the combination of EB acting and Bill Bell writing that made Victor character arc a success. We saw Victor go from short-term villain to anti-hero/romantic leading man plus the backstory of his painful childhood (abandoned by both parents and growing up in an orphanage) and becoming a self-made man. Bill Bell saw what EB brought to Y&R, changed the initial storyline, and we know the rest. I quoted Bill Bell's own words on Victor Newman from the 1997 book Worlds Without End: The Art and History of the Soap Opera earlier in this thread. Link below to save digging in the thread. https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/38254-yr-old-articles/page/723/#findComment-1763810

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
1982/83 was CBS sitcom transition season. M*A*S*H ended, Newhart premiered, The Jeffersons and One Day at a Time fell out of the Top 10, Archie Bunker's Place ended, and Alice was moved around the schedule (from Sunday 9 pm to Wednesday 9 pm, Sunday 9:30 pm, Monday 9 pm, Sunday 9:30 pm) which lead to a Top 30 fallout.
