Awww that's cool. Then again they could do a skype and air it if that was the only way and I would be fine with that.

I pretty much can't stand Nola now. Her behavior to get money was not justified, so if that was Kathleen Turner's goal to hate Nola than great job.

The Preemption/Out of Pattern Thread
Guiding Light was moved to the mornings on the owned and operated CBS stations in the mid-90s for a short-lived show called Day and Date. This happened after certain areas started moving Guiding Light on their own to the morning due to OJ related programming in the afternoon.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
jam shared this link elsewhere. It mentions The Doctors being streamed in a new subscription service starting in January 2020. https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/business/aroundregion/story/2019/dec/12/tv-hub-programming-streaming-access/510459/

Vetsoapfan's Treasure Trove: Vintage Soap Material
I wish this episode existed. I would absolutely enjoy it, though I wonder what sort of parody of soaps would be made in that era (non-Carol Burnett style). Thank you for finding the article, which gives us a bit of an idea of what happened.

Generations Discussion Thread
On WNBC-4 in NYC, Generations was moved from 12:30 pm to 11:30 am, as Santa Barbara was switched from 3 pm to noon. I doubt that helped Generations keep viewership, as the last 30 minutes of The Price is Right was already a huge ratings winner. (Faith Daniels had at least one episode with soap people, which I appreciated...)

Ratings from the 80's
I wonder how much flow changed on television in the 80s from previous years, due to more people having VHS in their homes, cable tv, and better remote controls. The whole you watch a certain channel all day became less of a thing when one had more options for programming. With the ABC shows, I wish I knew how many areas didn't air RH or LOV, due to time slot, opting for local news. Or if they showed either overnight, I do recall that Philadelphia (not sure when this started) aired Santa Barbara in the mornings, and they were behind the rest of the country, so Days being successful probably wouldn't have helped SB in that viewing area.

Monika this is great, congrats on the response. Good job on the screen grabs.

Soap Hoppers: The Soap Actors And Roles Thread
Including radio roles and people who were on two soaps only made the list even longer. A lot of actors have appeared on more than one show, but in a lot of cases, I just see it as a career, and not a big deal, for me the hoppiest of hoppers are the people who go from show to show (stay a year, go to another, etc. and hit three or four within a short amount of time.) ETA totally appreciate all of SlickJones hard work.

I'm guessing that is part of Debbi Morgan's memoir.

Star Trek: Picard
Star Trek Discovery is available on disc so if someone /anyone doesn't want to use CBS All Access there is the option to legally buy at a later date.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
Thanks goes to BetterForgotten on the Y&R October thread, but Alec Baldwin (Billy) did a podcast episode with Peter Bergman (Jack on Y&R). The audio is about an hour. https://www.wnycstudios.org/podcasts/heresthething/episodes/peter-bergman-king-soaps Alec couldn't help himself and spoke a bit about The Doctors with some spoilerish material. One non-spoiler related item was how he referenced Jim Pritchett (Matt) he said he looked like Burt Reynolds' Dad with the mustache.

That was insane, who/what was that. I wonder what the old ladies watching thought of that.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
The main issue I have with The Doctors is the constant focus on Sara Dancy. She is in every story, and not very interesting, to be the core person. Doug Marland basically made all the mistakes on TD that he would share years later as things not to do.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I couldn't take McT and after she was out at GL, I was glad, though when she ended up back at ABCD, I ended up changing the channel on whatever soap she ended up in the headwriting position. There are very few people in that role that ever made me glad when characters I liked to watch weren't on screen. The Brent/Marion thing disgusted me as in those days the long term drug regimes weren't known to be long term yet (they were just starting to come about), and they had Lucy who wasn't HIV positive start a drug protocol or something of that nature. GL became about shock/awe which the show wasn't about.

Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin indicted in bribery case
Thanks for posting all of this information. I'm surprised, but this has been going on for years, though it was things like "we'll buy a building" or something.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Blake wasn't supposed to be Christina, and had another back story, which never happened (no idea who she actually was supposed to be though it could have been a new character not tied to the canvas directly.) The whole Christina thing happened due to Chris Bernau's illness, a phone call to Zas asking if he would play Alan as Chris would not be able to act anymore. Zas saying that it wouldn't make sense for him to play Alan Spaulding, but perhaps Roger could come back to town.

Seriously that's why the character is being written off, was it due to her longevity or are no reasons given beyond money?

The preferential ballot changes things so much, as if your top three favorite movies are out, your vote goes to your fourth favorite for example.

Best/Worst Network Promo Campaigns
That promo, was so upsetting - it was beginning of the nightmare of being a day-behind, and things like spoilers didn't match anymore. (Only good part was if there was a national partial country preemption, there was a chance for others to get a morning tape from the next day.) I can watch something and think oh that story wasn't good, but I enjoyed the performances. The problem is if it is a movie a few hours of not-so-good story while annoying is only a short amount of time, the clone was months, and did a number on Josh Lewis.

The Doctors Discussion Thread
The sad thing about this situation is I'm more annoyed with RTV than the person who posted the link. RTV is not available in so many parts of the country, and they haven't done anything to fix that issue. And SFM who is owns the shows hasn't done anything to help and has actually hurt the audience. (Ironically the guy who did it is in charge of the DVD division, but they haven't had any official releases.) The person who posted these three episodes is not going to be regularly posting. I'm extremely worried that this person's channel is going to disappear...before everyone can see it if the wrong person sees it. The last time TD was pulled was due to a fight on a Facebook group for TD. Things got nasty and someone tattled to RTV and everything was lost at that point. I'd be good with someone livestreaming from their system to whatever and then it being up for a day or two, and everyone has to join to watch (not on YouTube).

Best/Worst Network Promo Campaigns
The scene from The Doctors in that 1974 clip was romantic, the problem was without dialogue it made no sense. So unless you saw that day, you would be very confused. I didn't mind the airhorn on the TGL ad. I think it was supposed to make people look away from what they were doing (they thought everyone was ironing I guess...) and look at the television, as since you couldn't hear any dialogue the only way you knew what was going on was watching the screen. (I'm only partly joking.)
