Yeah despite the messiness of that along with the stories ATWT for better or for wise definitely got a lot of attention during that time and had ratings gains at a time when other soaps really faltered. I recall it spent much of summer and fall of 2003 sometimes as high as #3 in the weekly ratings. I pretty much lost interest in Claudia after her role in her son’s death and that messiness. Personally my favorite Noone role will always be Bette on Sunset Beach. I actually secretly rooted for her to win the Emmy that year she was nominated. Bette was such a fun character compared to whatever she later played on Passions.

Only for the curious I’m not sure how Y&R survived that period either especially when Days completely revived (and looked sane) there 09-10 under Tomlin & Whitesell while amidst soap cancellations going amok. Probably the sole instance where JFP saved a soap from self destructing even further, at least for a couple months years when she sold her soul and career to Pratt lol. That said the ghost of Hogan still haunts Y&R to this day when it comes to Adam and the Abbotts, just as Hogan’s ghost still haunts Days and haunted ATWT. Excessive shock value doesn’t work for long time storylines even years afterwards.

Sorry but not sorry but the Ridge & Taylor, or Ridge 2.0 & Taylee or whatever scenes do not work for me at all, and I say this as someone who was a massive Ridge & Taylor stan back in the day 20-30 years ago. RB & TK have zero chemistry and feel like complete strangers to me. This might have been interesting if HT or KA were here, but nope RB does not work for me at all. Decent actress but is not Taylor. She could’ve easily been a new character or if we had to a recast of some previous lost love interest ie Alex Simpson, Heather, or hell Shauna lol but no no no. At least we finally have gotten Donna involved in this story, spying on Ridge & Taylor and providing intel. Much overdue. And did I see right:

That’s actually been one of my favorite things about this story is veteran actors leading it, even if it is messy. As for Ray Wise lol I remember him more from as a kid Swamp Thing (don’t ask questions!) and of course Twin Peaks and I’m glad you mentioned Savannah here too as I remember liking that show…after that the WB’s primary soaps became Dawson’s Creek & Charmed for myself while what happened to the rest is for another time and place lol. CZ is amazing as always but I still honestly would’ve bought her as Eve in the flesh lol as opposed to the Jordan character, which still does nothing new here. Honestly the real crime was never bringing back Peck after his AMC run ended while allowing AH to transcend into a bitchy icy Victoria that we all knew she could do but was denied to is irritating as all hell lo.

@Taoboi won’t spoil nothing for you but I can tell you this week has actually started off a decent note for the first Monday & Tuesday of 2025. 🙂 Highlights so far were the Cole & Victoria scenes on Monday, and then believe it or not Summer & Phyllis scenes for Tuesday. Other than the reckless total character destruction/regression JG forced upon us back in 2023, I must say I always I enjoy when AL Summer can easily dominate a over win over MS Phyllis just by her facial expressions lol. One rant I have to go one and maybe someone like @ranger1rg can dissect more but what is all this sudden talk about Christian lol? Christian staying at Sharon because he loves her, Christian might have a hard time blah blah blah. Has this show even Christian at all a child actor recently because I certainly don’t remember it. The backstory for Christian is sooo unnecessary I would’ve preferred Ava to live just to avoid this pointless “Billy & Sally go to Paris and it makes Phyllis jealous!”’ crap. (BTW as a sidebar and hate to say anything but JT isn’t looking too well… that could easily be blamed on the styling dept as well. It’s obvious he’s lost a lot of weight but the baggy sweaters make it look awkward).

One thing that always disappointed me was back in late 2019 when Steffy was living a nice post Liam & post baby swap life was she enjoyed the company of a couple different sexy European suitors of hers and seemed happy for a few months just doing that before the Covid halt. It was nice to see Steffy do something different and be a free spirit while we other quads and triangles from hell raged on at the time lol.

Julia Bart’s Brooke is a good choice for this. I would also have to go with ATWT’s Kathryn Hays as Kim as well as CZ as Barbara at least before 2000. Tricia Cast as Nina on Y&R is another “quiet one” yet always gives stellar performances even when she had been off the show for years.

Same. His perception of what he is writing does not match up with anything that we see on the screen. He brings up how proud he is of the OCD story…didn’t SOD just write that the worst story for Y&R of the year? I’m so over him keep trying to float the idea that Kyle and Claire are in this “great Romeo & Juliet” love story when that so far hasn’t been the case at all. We were warned already of a possible triangle, but Phyllis & Sally becoming Billy’s demon and angel on his shoulders…? Sounds like FF time on the DVR. In fact other than the potential of Nate, Audra, and Damien the rest sounds like garbage. Does anyone actually care about Adam & Chelsea? Same. I feel like it’s too late for Summer to make this kind of play that JG denied her back in 2023.

Which is why Lilimae epically bitch slapping Cathy a couple times in their confrontation felt so right and why Cathy understood she was in the wrong from there. Was it planned for Cathy to appear again at least in early Season 8? The scenes of Val trashing Cathy’s house are so weird and never followed up on, especially given Cathy had already left town? Ben’s more bizarre storyline came in Season 8 which for me was a story more suited for Richard Channing over on FC.

With Luna moving into the Spencer mansion, I’m quite sure we’ll at least get a quickie episode of Liam learning about Luna’s living arrangement, tell Bill he is done with living with him and has a brief farewell scene with Steffy telling her that he’s taken a job at Spencer Publications bureau in Cairo or something lol. My favorite line is this…. 'We are excited," Bell enthuses. "This many years into it, we are as pumped up as we've ever been. It's just a wonderful team here and I see us as a little half-hour engine that could. I actually just noticed they one appeared one more time in the 12/28/2023 episode where Michael & Lauren renewed their vows, which I had totally forgotten about that as well except for Lauren mentioning that Fen was spending close time with Trey AND his sponsor for Christmas in a cabin. 🤣
