  1. Ah I can see it now reading in retrospect… ”In 1988, Dallas was given a much needed shot in the arm when Gary, Val, and the twins moved into Southfork together following the reunion in Knots after Ben was officially declared dead. When an honored Bobby meets his nephew and thanks Gary, Gary tells Bobby he felt his son deserved to share the same name as a good man like Bobby and after Val having a terrible nightmare of Bobby dying…to which Val quickly shushes Gary up saying they’re never supposed to talk about the that dream AGAIN”. Problem solved 🤣
  2. @Taoboi is there a good place I can pick back up at? The SAW and the Restless story had me tap out for a good week and a half but after returning to the show today with the story behind us I feel a bit lost, and I thought I had read most of the recaps. Do spare me any of Quad From Hell scenes though 😅
  3. Thanks. I remember a few years back before Covid he was getting all the hype and did that lousy Ryan Murphy show The Politician. He seems extremely self involved and pretentious. He made a lot of self involved statements during the promotion of the Dear Evan Hansen film like “the only reason this film was made was because I was cast in it”. He just has a bad energy and his career reeks of nepotism.
  4. @DRW50 @j swift @Vee @Soapsuds @Maxim Between reading up on an old post and on how Marc Platt’s new Snow White movie had fell very short at the box office, i wondered, whatever had happened to Ben Platt? After the disastrous Dear Evan Hansen movie and the disastrous interview of him trying to claim he isn’t a nepotism baby I don’t remember seeing much about him. I found out I guess I missed his and Noah’s wedding at the end of last summer: https://people.com/ben-platt-marries-noah-galvin-in-brooklyn-wedding-7559058 Two verse bottoms in matrimony I suppose. Noah (who had his own trouble) hasn’t acted in a year and it seems that Platt is sticking with Broadway aside from doing a couple indie flicks. He also seems to be largely hated on the Broadway sub reddits.
  5. Thanks I will check it out! Ian Boyd as a geeky, closeted gay Casey set my gaydar alert on fire but unfortunately Boyd never worked again. Cross was already a well known child/teen actor when he joined ATWT which is why it always puzzled me that he was barely used during his time. I remember reading that about Seyfried and being not surprised at all. The Lochlear interview with Goutman at least revealed not all was well 🙈
  6. I knew Vack was doing indie stuff. I also remember seeing him on “I Just want my pants back” and personally wasn’t impressed by him (or the show) at all either. I didn’t know Vack was leftist as I might have a misread an interview he gave a while back about him playing Jesus in a Christian flick. My memory of Vack at ATWT was saying “Hey dad, Mom and Doc Reese were playing football and rolling in the grass!” or some dumb [!@#$%^&*] lol after what was an obvious make out session If there was something good Passanante did it was at least casting Zach Roering as Casey and finally have Casey act as realistic teenager. ATWT barely used Cross despite him doing a number of stuff. I don’t even remember Seyfried as Lucy despite my distinct memory of her scenes with Michael B Jordan on AMC.
  7. Lord I remember that and yes she was horrible… I just remember her screaming lol. 2004 was a such a bad for recasts in daytime all around. In addition to Paquin at GL and of course Rahmer at Days, we also suffered through Peter Vack as Casey and Christina Chambers as Molly on ATWT (Chambers was just as BAD) and Emily Harrison as Bridget on B&B.
  8. Lol I was trying to think of good/decent actresses still on a soap today. I do feel Matula has done better off daytime though. Keep in mind Matula spent her last year with Hope on drugs and sleeping with her husband’s brother in true trashy B&B fashion
  9. Was that all there was? I literally swear reading about 5-6 different actresses but of course that may have been exaggerated lol. Gina Marie May if I was recall was considered the worst daytime actress ever until Kit Paquin as month long Marina recast on GL and of course the notorious Charity Rahmer recast occurred on Days both in 2004. Deanna Wright I recall supposedly quit over religious indifferences but later did attempt to be Mac on Y&R but lost out to Rachel Kimsey.
  10. Camryn Grimes, Zulekya Silver, and Alison Lanier are the three ones I can name immediately off the top of my head. Meanwhile both Hope and Steffy on B&B are both in their 40’s 🤣
  11. LOL so true! The original Don Hughes was on ATWT quickly recast and Jim Matthews on AW was immediately recast within a week of the show’s premiere. I know it’s been 28 years but Sunset Beach did go through the same thing when the original Cole aka George Hamilton’s son and Shannen Doherty’s ex husband was replaced by Eddie Cibrian, fresh off Y&R and simultaneously starring in Baywatch Nights. I gave the AW and Sunset Beach examples above but wasn’t the first recasts on Passions really the multiple Kay actresses that occurred in summer 2000? LOL. That was bad.
  12. Honestly I was totally expecting this to be a recast of the actor playing Martin when I first clicked this. 😅 I like the actor playing Ted so far but every soap has had its first year growing pains and recasts. Hopefully Robinson, who I know is a much bigger name and I’ve seen give good performances before will be just as good and fit in well.
  13. If there has been one good thing about the past few years it is that the show finally got the character on the right track. It helped that AH had chemistry with Burgi, Newman, and Peck while also finally letting AH relish in iciness/bitchiness instead of romantic heroine. Imagine if the show had not wasted her for a whole decade drooling over Billy…
  14. You’re welcome! I also learned today Cole is married to Cynthia Daniel…Cynthia and her twin sister Brittany were on Sweet Valley High back in the 90’s and while Brittany has had a successful working career into adulthood, Cynthia hasn’t acted ever since minus a couple bits here and there. (I guess a modern equivalent of this would be the Sprouse twins?)
  15. Same, wow. I definitely feel bad for his son Cole and the rest of the family.
  16. LMAO! Obviously the final sabotage job comes into play when CBS announces “Don’t forget to a catch an all new B&B episode following @fter Midnight next on most of these CBS stations!” 🤣🤣🙈
  17. Really the show just needs a more consistent and stable HW at the moment. Obviously Josh Griffith isn’t it by far but surely there has to be at a more competent writer out there, or at lease someone to straighten up his worst demons & tendencies at best. I’m reminded of the horrible OCD story lol. JG explains how it’s personal and his in real life daughter has her good & bad days and how they worked it out…yet out of nowhere Connor ends up out of nowhere on the spectrum and institutionalized. WTF?
  18. I am currently watching BTG on the DVR every evening yet for Y&R I’m just blah about and currently behind a week although I do at least still read daily recaps…but what I’ve read isn’t exactly encouraging to catch up… ”Nick dashes Sharon’s hope for reconciliation while Adam & Chelsea have sex…” 🤢🤢😵‍💫 As for B&B’s current mess yikes…! I’m not touching that with a 10 foot pole 🤣 Needless to say if I was a CBS exec I would’ve given B&B a crappy Love of Life timeslot move to a 3:30 ET move behind Y&R, BTG, AND LMAD just to give a big red flag to Thudley. All in all the Bell soaps had their big chance to step up their A game with BTG’s premiere and both shows BLEW it. I remember back in 1997 when Days and AW having major cliffhangers leading into the Monday that Sunset Beach premiered, and other soaps also had big events too, for example Holden returning on ATWT the same day Sunset Beach aired. Likewise again in 1999 when Passions first aired we had the iconic John & Marlena wedding on Days the same day while Sunset Beach aired a special event episode meanwhile all four CBS smartly countered programmed, particularly ATWT by introducing the AW crossover characters it inherited in Oakdale 🙈
  19. LOL! 😂 I’m just curious as to how she feels now, especially with the advent of BTG and so many folks she worked with now working on that show. Meanwhile I still can’t get over things like her trash talk of Geary and Lucci, just casually calling Aiden Turner a “numnutz” or as I also noticed, listing of a full page of spicy blind items that could have been easily ghost written by either Daniel Coleridge or Nelson Branco 🤣
  20. I remember seeing Marshall on Passions and was always dismayed by what I saw at the time about her character becoming a caricature especially since I had adored her as Gilly but looking back I wonder she just took the role for the fun of it or was done a favor like Strasser and Noone. Lord Michael Logan could be an enigmatic for sure…example he trashed Tom Langan rightly so at Days but then turned around and sang Reilly’s praises in 2003. I guess going back to Mimi Torchin I do remember the “war” Corday and SPW had in 1999-00 simply because SPW named Days as the worst show of 1999 or something and Corday cut them off. I don’t think McTavish had that power though
  21. I meant to reply to this but now that I’ve read it I love how well you summarized it as it definitely is a bit haunting to read. Fans have been bitter about her work for years, now to read she was angry and bitter individual is fascinating. A distant scream into a windy night indeed. Love it! I really wonder how many of those she wrote about in this book have seen what she wrote . Yet some of it still connects to the present… So true. While GL reached its natural conclusion, AMC and OLTL were canceled very prematurely. Still I remember use to having small celebrations every year GL got renewed in the mid to late 00’s even as everything fell apart. Funny McTavish doesn’t insult Frons does she? Obviously this memoir I realize now was written some time in 2012, yet it has connections to the present. She praises Beall and Beldner, who still write on Y&R to this day. And of course most interesting is JHC and Cady are now on BTG together. The most pertinent question I have now is where is McTavish in 2025?
  22. McTavish did write again for Marshall on AMC as Belinda, but obviously nothing extreme as Belinda was token/window dressing for AMC by that point. Oh no doubt I can see Torchin definitely rubbing the wrong way by that point…but obviously McTavish makes it know she had a vengeful streak and the way she delights in the deaths of Nadine, Trevor, and Dixie is rather revealing and unnerving about her psyche. (I didn’t see her mention it but I don’t think she liked the soap press either. I remember Michael Logan always being particularly critical and harsh on her)
  23. Late to the party on this thread about McTavish as well it seems. I’m still screaming over how campy and arrogant that draft comes off. The constant snide sarcastic insults to actors, writers, and execs, deserved or not, she didn’t like is both hilarious and inappropriate at the same time. @DRW50 I did the read the blurb about Jean Carol. Yikes! Seems a bit overkill to do that to JC instead of just writing Nadine out with Carroll the trucker or something…but it’s a bit perverse McTavish took satisfaction out of killing off JC’s character (among others she mentioned). The comments about Garrett, Torchin, and Laibson seem over the top though. McTavish doesn’t mention any of her 1996 work at all, especially doing Amelia Marshall’s Gilly so wrong & dirty or mentioning writing for Zimmer. I had wondered about this in the AMC thread. Conforti had been with GL for years before she came and stayed in til what ‘98? Which is odd as she did praise Miller although they had worked on other soaps together. Conforti must have been a favorite of JFP as she later hired him at GH in 2001 probably to Megan’s chargin and then later hired him again at Y&R in 2012, at a time when McTavish seems to have be writing this book up.
  24. #Team Eva all the way!! 🙂 That said I like the set up the show has built up for a nice rivalry with Kat for sure. And Yeesh I’m all caught up and yet so far beyond on this thread lol. I love Nicole. I like Dani but she is definitely her own worst enemy and curious to see if she can find a turning point. Also I think it would be interesting to see Hayley slowly just slide into Fairmont society to the point where she becomes acceptable Dupreees be damned lol. Weakest part of the show for me continues to be the Martin/Smitty family drama. I like Mike Manning’s Smitty but the whole stuff is pretty awkward for me.
  25. LOL. Funny enough he jumped ship off AMC back in 2003 just as she came back. I vaguely recall there being a vicious soap article from June 2003 detailing the salacious details about JER’s return to Days and McTavish’s return to AMC. I may have to dig it up. Going back to Conforti I wonder if some of her anger was directed at him for being a Friend of Jill, except being a writer instead of actor lol? He had worked under her at GL obviously but then she hired him later on at GH and then again at Y&R.
