  1. Oh no doubt about it. I don’t want to beat a dead horse from my earlier posts in the thread regarding Season 6 I.e, Sheila Kelley (who I always will still adore from LA Law) as Charley 2.0 or the preposterous Reed recast with a preposterous story to boot but everything you said is so true. I’d say the saving grace was the series finale at least which was satisfying especially with the Georgie & John reconciliation scene with the sons watching happily. Just 1-2 seasons too late. Not surprisingly after reaching stable ratings highs just barely outside the Top 50 for Seasons 3 & 4, the show fell to #75 for Season 4 and saw triple digits for Season 6.
  2. How late did P&G’s wiping process run for? It seems tragic to me that Lovers & Friends/FRFP is essentially lost even though it aired in the late ‘70’s.
  3. Catching up thanks @DRW50 for sharing all of those promos. And thanks @Khan for dissecting the gross and nasty Dr. Caspian story, the show’s nadir. I agree the Trevor promo was odd, it feels more like an ad for some wacky plot twist on Picket Fences than it does for the actual story that occurred on Sisters. I don’t know what happened; the first four season provided some pretty solid drama and good heart, barring occasional clunkers. Definitely losing both Ed Marinaro and Ashley Judd didn’t help at all. Season 5 just goes full off the rails between the Caspian nonsense, Alex’s mercy killing of Truman, Teddy’s downward spiral followed seeking revenge for Falconer’s murder by shacking up with his killer. Maybe they were aiming for a full on a Melrose Place style show and missed the mark BIG time? I feel like Season 6 initially attempted to ground the show again but was executed very terribly.
  4. LOL. I remember around 2001 or so Spirtas gave SOD an interview full of shade and a little sheepishness talking about the role as a part of SOD spotlighting actors first big gigs
  5. @Vee You got that right! I actually learned of her death via a good friend of mine who is a huge horror movie fanatic on his Facebook with pictures he had taken with her at a couple different conventions over the years. Linda was one of my favorite characters of the show for its later years and it was her brutal murder that had me stop watching the show. i definitely do remember Lincoln as Tina in Friday the 13th along with a young Kevin Spirtas, it’s been ages since I watched any of those movies though. I was surprised she didn’t get more work in the 90’s although I don’t know why or if there was a backstory. I remember she popped up on 90210 for a brief role. May she RIP.
  6. LOL I was thinking that day that Liam is going to die, we think Liam is dead for a few weeks, and then we get a “shocking” twist that Finn is keeping Liam alive comatose in his basement doing some “experimental” medicine or something.
  7. The death of Liam would actually make me start watching again lol but only if if I knew Liam’s was permanent and going to take.
  8. In hindsight since the Richard character was in the pilot just already have Richard be a character on the show as Angela’s son…working at his father’s newspaper and at Angela’s beck and call but annoyed and never being close…until the revelation in Season 2 that Richard wasn’t Angela’s bio son at all but Jacquline’s. Angela bought him from Jacqueline and went to so far to forge a pregnancy to cover up Douglas & Jacquline’s illicit affair. This way I could see Chase trying to be in unison with Angela but willing to share with Richard much to Angela’s dismay…or Richard going all out war on Angela with Chase having to play gatekeeper or something. Re Carlo’s murder Out of all the suspects I can see the show taking the easy route and blaming Carlo’s murder on someone like Ericson or the Diana Hunter character. Julia makes too much sense lol, and no way could Emma do that to Carlo.
  9. I personally like Season 6, it’s probably my favorite season outside of Seasons 1-first half of 4. I really appreciate Mark Snow’s score of the show making it feel more updated for the late 80’s and having an engaging umbrella storyline makes it work. I do have my issues with the season, like maybe Chase should have just died at the end of Season 5 lol. (They did convince Foxworth to return one more season with Foxworth proposing for Chase to become a villain—he apparently had the idea of Chase attending anger mgmt classes and failing but it never occurred on screen lol) But you’re right about Melissa, her whole storyline is messy. She just never recovered from the mess that her helping frame Lance in Season 4 and the whole incredulous & obnoxious Cole/Melissa/Chris/Robin quad in Season 5. Her going off the rails crazy in Season 6 was just a cumulation of all the times she went crazy the past 2 season beforehand. I remember us talking about this LOL. I don’t know what was funnier, Terry getting the ultimate comeuppance or Emma’s “WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIIIIIEEEEE!” scream lol. I pinpoint at a few episodes in once Leslie Caron’s arc ends so abruptly and we’re onto the next. Not to Dina’s story is basically rehash of what happened to Lorraine except the murder part. Cole returns for a few eps and then is gone again when really I would have convinced Moses to return again full time. By the time Lauren Hutton as a ninja occurs it had indeed goes off the rails until the Key to Angela story begins along with Frank’s arrival. I do wonder what would have happened if Freilich had stayed another season and had succeeded in his plans to coax Foxworth and Dalton back. Killing off Melissa right after such a major game changing twist was such a boneheaded egregious mistake. I know Filerman apologized years later after the fact but how he fumbled this is a mystery. Even Stern & Black should have said something as they had written for Melissa back in S2 & S3. He didn’t learn from his mistakes as his hands on involvement in Knots’ Season 13 a couple years later was just as bad. Agree to all of this, well said. Yes LOL! Funny enough Cesar Romero also appeared as a love interest for Sophia as well.
  10. All we need is for a classic Newman vs. Jabot battle of a product. Ashley returns and proposes a new product for Jabot. Jill talks Jack into relaunching the men’s line and putting Billy in charge of it. This causes some conflict with Kyle as he doesn’t want to work with Billy again. On the flip side Claire innocently blabs about the new product coming out from Jabot as well as the men’s line relaunch. Victoria is inspired by this to relaunch Brassy & Sassy with Claire by her side, but also recruits Nick back along with Phyllis, Lily, and Mariah to make this happen. Victor also lures Adam into the fold and vows to crush Jabot’s hopes. Victor orders a reluctant Adam to do some underhanded tactics to sabotage the new product rollout and men’s line relaunch to benefit the launch of Brash & Sassy 2.0 Chance & Daniel start a new IT security firm and offer their services to both Newman & Jabot. Meanwhile Fenmore’s has had 2 straight disastrous quarters and it’s all hands on deck for Lauren. She quickly creates a crisis management team of Summer, Sally, Chelsea and Chloe. The ladies are uneasy about working with each other but are flooded when Lauren reveals Audra will be the one managing the team. Traci writes a new best selling novel about her experience with Alan & Martin. She receives a mysterious fan letter that signed with the initials of “B.C & C.C.” and is absolutely puzzled. She enlists Chance & Daniel’s help. Audra helps Nate score a top job using his medical background as the head of the pharmaceutical division of Prentiss Industries. Nate is familiar with the company name but not sure where. Audra introduces Nate to her old friend and of course one time lover LJ Prentiss, who is the head of the company. Privately elsewhere Damien tells Holden he thinks LJ is the real Dumas figure. Nate observes a spooky portrait of a woman wearing a veil in LJ’s office as LJ mentions that it’s good to have his family’s company back in Genoa City again. Nate decides to ask Amy about the Prentiss family history.
  11. Yeah I can see that. I know Cannell gave us 80’s lore like the A-Team, Hunter, and 21 Jump Street. Entertaining but mindless popcorn flick style fare lol. Interestingly around the same period I enjoyed Cannell’s Silk Stalkings in its early seasons a lot on that CBS Crimetime after Primetime block. Like a sexed up tawdrier version of Moonlighting. Now that show Cannell created for Lorenzo Lamas however was downright embarrassing lol. Looking it over the 1991-92 schedule for CBS Friday nights was in absolute shambles, but I’ll save further dissection in the 90’s ratings thread.
  12. I didn’t know the show had even existed until some years ago lol. Between this and Martinez’s thankless role on L.A. Law where he was even let go mid-season of the final season in a last minute ditch of desperation, I am going to to surmise Walker & Martinez would have been better off just staying on SB til the end lol
  13. Same here. They always seem to crawl out of a rock every few years year lol. I’m actually more surprised that they are still married after all these years. Spencer is such a colossal jerk in my memory. I guess they crave what attention and publicity they can get lol.
  14. Agreed. The Rossini revenge story had some intrigue but ended up being fumbled. Lorraine’s death was unnecessary and cruel. The whole frame up of Lance was also extreme. Writing off Pamela wasn’t a great move. The Chase/Maggie/Richard/Connie quad was bit rushed at the end. The explosion at Richard’s was probably the least dramatic season ending cliffhanger the show did lol.
  15. Thanks @kalbir I knew you recently hinted on this announcement 🙂 Yeah you can see this a bit with Falcon Crest, who of course had their whole Season 4 story plans for better or worse get derailed; to go from a James Bond/Indiana Jones style storyline to excessive melodrama overkill: here they rank at #17. But you’re right and I know we’ve said before but MSW was the perfect show for a Sunday evening with all its charm, wit, and intrigue. As the 80’s economy improved viewer habits changed—-that’s when MSW and all the 80’s family sitcoms took off (whether one liked it or not lol). And by 1987 Friday night became a night to go out for a change after the dreary early 80’s.
  16. The ratings collapses for The Wonder Years and Doogie Howser are pretty startling during the 91-92 and 92-93 seasons. ABC Wednesdays for the 1992-93 season are a bit peculiar—-While Home Improvement ranked at #3 in the 9/8 time slot, both Wonder Years and Howser died a miserable death in the 8/7 hour with very low ratings, scheduled against 90210 and Unsolved Mysteries. Both shows fell out the Top 50. Doogie ended up being yanked abruptly mid season and immediately cancelled, much to the producers shock that they weren’t able to finish out their original ending and had already planned a 5th season story arc.
  17. Thanks @DRW50…what an odd concept show to pair with an aging Dynasty while Hotel was just flailing in the wind. Overall another messy season for ABC for the 86-87 season. Outside of the Tuesday night combo of WTB?, Growing Pains, Moonlighting, and Monday Night Football there wasn’t much going on. Dynasty was sinking to the bottom of the Top 30 and Head of the Class just barely broke into the Top 30. As Bridger Cunningham summed it up: “ABC again dropped below the chill factor as its suds sank and most of its sitcom helpings landed in the bottom of the barrel. Freshman news outlets tanked and were dispensed like an outlandish soap twist. Revamping and moving struggling shows failed to ignite interests, as well as Friday viewers becoming obsolete.”
  18. Sorry I missed your response but everything you mentioned pretty much echoes my sentiments exactly. Audra and Summer definitely need to detach themselves from manchild/errand boy lol. Imagine Summer having the hots for Holden much to Audra’s dismay lol. And 4/7 through 4/10 were actually decent and engaging overall.
  19. 💯!!!!! Sigh I still don’t know why Traci was never at least given additional children with Steve. I feel like she should have at least had a son and possibly an additional daughter. Heck Colleen should still be alive with at least 2 kids with JT by now!
  20. Yes he did lol, by February he made the big announcement it was back around the same time Lily returned for good. 🤣
  21. The hilarious thing I remember the most was the way Cane was also written out too. Not to mention I think they let Goddard film his final scenes without telling. All of the sudden Cane became the prime suspect stealing Devon’s money and I recall Jill & Devon had found out everything about him was a con and he left with his tail between his legs lol. I think? I think they mentioned it was Colin after all, but they barely mention Cane ever lol.
  22. Lord don’t remind me of LSV’s “prestigious acting school graduate” days when he was on GL as aren’t 😂🤣
  23. Somehow we forced to accept this drivel because for whatever reason Griffith didn’t want Audra and Summer on a collision course. Pretty much…not to mention unlike ZS or AL who at least have passion, HE has the chemistry of a cold wet sock the way Claire is written too.
  24. Double amen here…they were amazing this week and definitely the highlight Josh Griffith’s way of telling a G-rated (or TVY7?) “love” on a show that was once historically sexy.
