  1. LOL!! I’m catching and saw Tuesday’s episode and was like WTF as well! A whole hour devoted to those two again sniping at each other locked should’ve happened last month with the previous story. Ugh! Yeah Tuesday’s episode really jacked up the flow of the Damian story as well, especially since it’s been a fresh, grounded and interesting. We talked about how nice warm the Nate, Audra, and Amy scenes have been in contrast to the dark dreariness of Ian & Jordan the month before. The idea that the Valentine’s Day dreams occurred because they were drugged is unsettling. Now if JG over does it and gets the boot, hey no complaints from me! THANKFULLY Wednesday (today) episode is back to normal and gave us the highlight of Damian and Lily having dinner. Sadly it was still better than the [!@#$%^&*] that airs after Y&R and before BTG.🤣 I refuse to watch that garbage until the current grossness subsides. And finally….NO ONE CARES about Adam & Chelsea!!!!!
  2. Just finally caught up on yesterday’s and today’s episodes and all I can is wow! Where to start? I love the old soapy touches…Vernon giving me Papa Bauer vibes, Mona eavesdropping at the door trying to listen in on Nicole & Hayley, Leslie, Jan, and Mona gossiping etc. Favorite things in these 2 episodes? I really continue to enjoy the chemistry between all the Dupree’s I like the warm vibes after years of watching cold Newmans and lukewarm Forresters. I really liked the relationship between Chelsea and Naomi. The scenes giving us background on Ted, Nicole, Kat, and Andre were good. And Ashley’s preceptor knowing about her boyfriend Derek from social media reminds me of some co-workers at work spying on new hires LOL. In a way I do wonder what Hayley’s backstory is but I also hope she doesn’t fall victim to our resident villain Bill. I also like the secondary characters so far too. I’m wondering what the history is behind Leslie as well and why she ran poor Laura off the road. Interesting cliffhanger indeed. Yeah I agree I’m not yet feeling Martin and Smitty yet either. I like Mike Manning too but it feels a bit awkward so far as I think the Martin actor is a bit green. He’s likable though so I’m hoping we start to see more as the show continues into the next few weeks. And as for Dani….well I’m enjoying this hell on wheels introduction we’ve been watching. I’m interested in seeing her calm down the line but for know I’m enjoying the scorned and spicy diva that she is!
  3. I was a bit surprised by this too, but then I was a bit shocked to realize KM is actually old enough in real life to have kids in her early-mid 20’s as well. Then felt a bit surreal to realize that 2002 was 23 years ago when I’m still so use to thinking of the 70s/80s being “20 years ago” 🙈
  4. Thanks and likewise! When I saw this thread had blown up in the I was just like “yeah I’m not reading everything” (for now anyways 😉) . It’s surreal and refreshing having a new fun soap to watch on the lineup. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the week holds.
  5. Finally just finished watching it, and now I want to rewatch it all over again on my DVR! I like the show despite being a pilot also starts in mid story with Bill and Dani’s divorce as well as his impending vows to Hayley. To me it gave a nice old soapy feel like I’ve been invited into the Dupree’s home and catching up the latest gossip , something I haven’t felt from a soap in forever. But I also liked how new beginnings were woven in be it Jacob’s and Ashley’s first day of their new jobs or Hayley moving into Fairmont Crest. I really enjoyed the diner scene with Vernon and Bessie…that was a nice, sweet, and unexpected touch. I really like the chemistry between the Dupree’s as real, they feel like a real family and I could feel the loyalty and good vibes between despite whatever personal differences they may have. Favorite characters for me are definitely Anita, Nicole, Vernon, Jacob, Naomi, and Vanessa. You all weren’t kidding, Jacob is 🥵 Dani and Chelsea were both fun but I’m interested in where they’re headed first. Wasn’t quite sure what to make of Martin. Derek and Ashley are okay, Derek was nice candy, they just seemed filler time as the token whites? Andre was nice eye candy too. Obviously Bill gave off red flags and seedinesses. I didn’t mind the dialogue and setting up some of the backstories…there was enough action that made the episode interesting. I know excessive expository dialogue was a a major pitfall for Harding Lemay’s Lovers & Friends back in 1977 but I think once the show gets its groove going it shouldn’t be an issue. That last scene with the slap and the family one by one giving Hayley dirty judgmental looks was hilarious. Welcome to Fairmont Crest indeed lol! Finally, I too liked old soapy touches like “Beyond the Gates will continue” as well as seeing the new P&G Studios logo, something I never would have imagined in a million years ever getting to see again.
  6. There’s been widespread criticism of the WB Discovery CEO David Zaslav running the company into the ground every move he makes. I wouldn’t be surprised if Zaslav takes Max down with him.
  7. While I liked Ana-Alicia no she wasn’t good at playing any time Melissa got angry or crazy, it was always over the top hysterics and screaming, making it hard to take the character seriously.
  8. For now the show is still free on Plex, if you don’t mind excessive ads. I recall Melissa becomes unstable between her own one night stand with Eric, and realizing her whole marriage has been a deception between learning that Lance had indeed sabotaged her winery at the end of Season 5 and of course realizing Lance had an ongoing affair with Dina by catching them in bed. I guess all the lies caused her to crack, which is fine but her going batsh!t crazy is over the top. She stabilizes in Season 7 but is still her own worst enemy. Unfortunately the new TPTB on Season 8 sent her right back to crazy town again.
  9. Back to Plex then! Looks like Knots, FC, and Sisters are still there, with Sisters running on the Primetime soaps channel right now, and they just reran all of FC twice in the last 2 weeks. As I mentioned with @Liberty City in the main thread like Dynasty having a permanent free home on PlutoTV and once in a while popping up on Prime, I could see the same for the these shows as well on Plex (for better or worse)
  10. I think it was mentioned in the 90’s ratings thread, but ABC was trying to replicate TGIF on Saturday nights in the fall of 1991 and give NBC a a run for its money. It backfired in spectacular fashion. Thank god that show ended when it did. The world didn’t need to see Alex P. Keaton turn into a rabid Rush Limbaugh listener in the 90’s.
  11. And I don’t even know why Victor wants to take down Jack this time. I’m guessing that’s all JG knows to write for the character besides meddling into either Adam or Victoria’s lives.
  12. Late to the party on BTG’s opening but I did like it, the opening theme for the first 10-15 seconds definitely reminded me a lot of the Dynasty 2.0 opening. As for the later ATWT and GL themes as fun as it was looking back they weren’t worth it. While I liked the 2002-07 theme ATWT should have just modernized either the 81-93 or 93-99 themes for the 00’s. Meanwhile GL should have just kept Hold On To Love to the very end.
  13. LOL @ Finder of Lost Loves. I remember someone posted a very scathing review of the show from The NY Times a while back lol. For some reason I remember this show in particular at my young age mainly because it so happened my grandparents were watching the show and my grandma, referring to Tony Franciosa, said “ I hope that creep never finds me!!” Agree on WTB? as well. Helmond was always the best part. WTB? (and Growing Pains) was a show I watched with the family but became very repulsed by once the clock hit 1990. I too watched all of Paper Dolls on SoapNet as that was the first time I saw it. I think what I enjoyed the most was just seeing the amount of talent (Rambo, Beymer Farrell, Sheridan, Hutton and Fairchild) and I felt the show did get better as it progressed towards. However the writing could be sophomoric (hello Stern & Black!) but just seemed to be a fun little show that probably deserved better writing and a better time slot. As for Mimi Rogers I know what you’re referring too but I’ve never been much a fan. Her recurring role on The X-Files was one of the most atrocious things both acting (and writing) wise I’ve ever seen and I was unimpressed with some of her other work. You’re probably right which didn’t help. I also years back watched a bootleg copy of the original movie with Joan Collins as Racine, which obviously was the best part and Fairchild didn’t quite live up to the TV show. Still beats Glitter though LOL. Has there ever been other examples of when a last place network had a #1 show? @Paul Raven Thanks again I remember you explaining the birth of 80’s primetime soaps of how they lived or failed earlier in this thread. I’d say Paper Dolls should’ve aired after Dynasty while Hotel get paired with The Love Boat (or Hotel should have just become a flat out soap like it was called!!)
  14. The best part of this past whole week has been the Damian storyline without a doubt and to me it’s the only story that’s been worth watching. Everything involving Nate, Audra, Amy, Holden, and Damian has been on point and I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen so far this week. Damian’s Thursday scenes with Lily and Friday’s scenes with Amy were the high points. Also same with Holden & Audra. NOW, as for the rest of the show, yeah there’s nothing new here. Now Victor being unsettled by Damian’s presence in GC is interesting. However, Victor huffing and puffing his 12,867th (or is it 12,868th?) declaration that he wants to destroy Jack for good isn’t interesting at all. Nobody asked for Josh Griffith to give us a Romeo & Juliet story and I don’t think anyone but he cares. Meanwhile 5…4…3…2…1… to the the show’s current quad from hell swapping each other again. 😴💤😴 Granted, I personally find Y&R more watchable than the Leo Hour or the disgusting mess that airs after Y&R that I’ve quit watching again. But just keeping its head barely above water isn’t good either. I’m personally hoping BTG actually blows Y&R out that forces the hand to get rid of JG and of course our “beloved” executive in charge (of nothing) Steve Kent with more compatible replacements and maybe Sony just sells the show to CBS/Paramount?
  15. Same thing with Falcon Crest…I wonder if they will still be on Plex though? Like how Dynasty is purchase only on Prime yet Pluto has all the eps for free.
  16. Schmidt’s first run was actually decent and I liked him back then. His second run was an unmitigated disaster. Thus when rank the Noah’s… 1. Adamason 2. Schmidt 3. Gibson 4. Kleintank How many many female characters were created just for Noah and flopped. We had Eden, Hunter, Zoe (not to be confused with Reed’s Zoey) Adrianna, Courtney, Marisa, and unfortunately Allie….the only ones to do okay afterwards was I guess Tessa and well @Taoboi I still can’t believe Noah and Audra were ever involved LOL unless Noah was just Audra’s errand boy for the month.
  17. Those episodes should have been burned and buried 🤢
  18. Without a doubt this week’s highlights was everything surrounding the Damian storyline. Le sign I kind of hoped Holden and Damian were possibly secretly lovers lol. That said the twist that Holden & Audra know each other from the past is interesting. We already know Audra did a lot very unscrupulous and very unethical things in the past while working for Tucker so anything with Holden will be a rehash of that but is a good twist regardless. Damian and Lily will sure to be interesting. I too have been enjoying VP as Amy and actually hope she sticks around for the long run like going into remission or something. I also enjoyed Devon and Lily giving Nate their support and being a sounding board. What really should happen: Billy returns to Jabot with Sally at hand and they relaunch both the men’s line as well as a new line of cosmetics aimed at both younger men & women to help boost Jabot’s aging demographics. Initially Jack & Diane are super happy about this although Kyle is annoyed. Diane’s opinion turns sour though after Phyllis comes aboard with Daniel running Jabot’s new fancy website, app, IT etc. but nonetheless the begrudgingly agrees to make it work. Kyle is still peeved and while venting to Claire while buzzed he accidentally shares some inside info about the newest project from Jabot Claire who then Innocently blabs about to Victoria with Victor gleefully eavesdropping in.
  19. OMG that sounds HORRIBLE. Thank you though. I suppose Leo being fired is suppose to reflect RC in his feelings over being fired? LOL.
  20. How did the Body & Soul crap finally come to its merciful end? I kind of want to watch it LOL but I’m also waiting for April before I do anymore Days watching.
  21. Both Glitter and Finders of Lost Love have got to be the worst…did anyone ask for them??? Some earlier Fantasy Island episodes I’ve watched years later in reruns held my interest but The Love Boat was basically a “Battle of the Network Stars” on a weekly basis. Thanks! Without a doubt as you’ve mentioned before I see why 89-90 was the nadir of this particular CBS mess era…I forgot the Brady’s aired on CBS and that was pretty awkward I.e. Bobby Brady being paralyzed following a race car crash in the initial “Brady 500” movie or whatever it was called.
  22. I’d say the Fri 8PM slot had became a dead zone for CBS a few years earlier when Bo & Luke left 🤣 Even when they returned the show didn’t gain anything back. And then became a dead zone a lot longer than just 1990. Seems to me CBS tried throwing everything into that hour and nothing stuck until the era of Kids Say the Darndest Things and Candid Camera in the late ‘90’s. I do think recall watching Scarecrow & Mrs King on Friday nights before Dallas. It ranked #41 that season but I do think it may have lasted another season in that slot had Kate Jackson’s health and absence took a toll. Friday night at 8ET/7CT seems like a notorious bad spot for dramas. Obviously ABC had more or less success from the mid-80s to early ‘00’s with sitcoms. But NBC had trouble as well with Knight Rider dying a miserable death in the slot despite Miami Vice being on fire…they wouldn’t have something stable until Unsolved Mysteries and later Providence were in the spot. Fox finally gave up at some point.
  23. I haven’t watched this week at all yet because I’m repulsed by it at the moment again LOL, but I’m also just tempted to see what a train wreck the show is at the moment too. The best acting he’s ever done…maybe we need an “Bibu” cast..? 🤣
  24. **Holden? We have Damian and of course Lily, but now we have a Holden? Obviously JG has been watching mid-90’s episodes of ATWT on YouTube @Paul Raven @kalbir😂 The twist ending of Holden & Damian has me definitely intrigued now, and I liked the mystery and dynamic between the two as they stayed one step ahead of Nate while Nate was also correctly guessing their next move. Agree with all of this. I really enjoyed Monday & Tuesday’s episodes and the sort of surrogate family dynamic that is developing between Nate, Audra, and Amy, especially between Amy and Audra. Tuesday’s ep has Amy tell a nice heart warming and touching story about Damian’s first cat which gives the story a nice human touch in the aftermath of two psychotics run amok last month. Hahaha it’s classic Victor for sure, but as for JG’s new “Romeo & Juliet” it seems to me that nobody cares Kyle & Claire dating other than Victor. I think Summer only barely cares because she doesn’t want to lose her precedence and status as Harrison’s adopted mother to Claire. Graz was fantastic in Monday’s scenes. Actually Tuesday’s scenes between MS and SC actually worked as well. Hahahaha well we had Victor *pretend* to call Abby last week but Victor didn’t do it and gave Ian a flimsy excuse that he would never put Abby in danger (yet had no qualms about beckoning Adam lol). But yes Abby wasn’t even dragged in again. Remember the first time Jordan held them hostage and Abby was all like “Oh I like to stay out of the loop with the Newmans!” It has become a running gag other than the Ranch reveal and 13000th episode week. And with MO on recurring it will stay that way.
