Wow at Ridge calling Hope “a nasty bitch”. That’s a bit too much. I’m sure that this will break up Bridge and send Ridge to Tayler. Problem of it is, do TK and RB have any chemistry? RB has done some okay scenes, nothing memorable and still doesn’t feel like Taylor to me at all. Still a cold fish to me really. The Lunacy scenes are just what they are, pure lunacy. Maybe Dollar Bill can come up with advertising a Free Luna t-shirt campaign?

Indeed. The most unnecessary and pointless scenes of the week without a doubt. ‘Twas a quiet week, back to the old drabness of JG as usual. High points? Definitely agree on Lucy’s speech being one of them. The actress really hit it out of the park especially in her scenes with Faith as well. Also Friday’s episode in Jack & Diane actually revealed they had quietly outmaneuvered Victor in a small but rare victory. Victor’s face was priceless. Glad the Abbott family drama did come with a resolution though. Mixed points? Kyle/Claire. Okay, but some sweeping Romeo & Juliet plot that JG envisions they are not lol. For this story to have worked Claire needed to be at least left some edge and spitefulness, maybe even have her be jealous of Summer. Otherwise it doesn’t work. Claire is lucky to have Newman ties because otherwise she’d be about to go the way of Lola lol. Low points? As mentioned already Phyllis at Crimson Lights lol but also overall the Sharon story is sputtering out. Phyllis/Christine clash scenes didn’t work either. Neither did Billy/Sally. Can we please go like a month without seeing Billy?? And while I’m still intrigued by Ian and Jordan, the newest disguise for Jordan did not set a red flag off for Claire…?- B&B: December 2024 Discussion Thread
Did I hear Eric correctly when he called Ridge “Tridge”? I also howled at Eric telling Carter he’s fired even though Carter is in charge 🤣 Another Lunatic Friday letter and visit I see. Only thing of interest I saw this week was of Sheila and Remy bonding…you’d think Sheila would recognize the characteristics fast? But alas, this show is as a [!@#$%^&*] dumb as a box of rocks, with apologies to insulting rocks.- DAYS: December 2024 Discussion Thread

At least for this year. Last year we had that Christmas present where he disappeared in mid November after Steffy came back for like 6-7 weeks, missing all of December until showing up again with Xander in early January. We were supposed to have Luna Fridays yet they only appeared for 2 of the 3 Fridays 🤣 RJ will probably not be seen again now that he’s been replaced by Nick Newman Jr. Right? This Electra/Remy stuff feels so rushed and forced already I’m actually surprised Thudley went there so fast to shove a psycho. It also doesn’t help that the players involved can’t act either.- DAYS: RIP Wayne Northrop
OMG!!! Not another Days icon after Drake just passed away 😭😭😭😭 My heart definitely goes out to Lynn and Deidre. Although the 91-94 return run was rocky I still enjoyed his time on Days and also liked him as Culhane on Dynasty. Once I saw his 80’s work I absolutely enjoyed his first run as well. May he rest in peace. 🙁- Knots Landing
I believe this is it here: Knots Landing the Better Soap My friend Donna, the hair stylist, has watched more hours of prime-time television soap opera than any other human being. While this fact has not yet made its way into the Guinnes Book Of World Records, it’s true, and her three favorite shows are CBS’s Dallas, ABC’s Dynasty and CBS’s Knots Landing, all of which she has watched, without missing a single episode, since they first went on the air, which was more years ago than either of us care to think. Early this season, over a cup of soup and a chicken salad between customers, Donna delivered the following breathless report: “If you ask me, Knots Landing is going to be number one. I predict it. Knots Landing is more down-to-earth. Dallas has gotten boring. Dynasty has gotten too phony. The clothes are too phony. I mean, who wears evening gowns for breakfast? Dynasty is suddenly all about palace revolutions in some phony country. Even the makeup looks phony. Did you see Krystle after the palace revolution? All she got when they shot everybody down was one itty-bitty little blood spot on her cheek! It didn’t even mess up her hair! “Dallas started to get boring after Jock died. On Knots Landing, Gary is JR’s brother–he’s the middle brother, between JR and Bobby, and Gary came back to Dallas for Bobby’s funeral. JR hates Gary. Bobby was always Jock’s favorite. But Miss Ellie has always had a soft spot in her heart for Gary, even though she usually sticks up for JR. If you ask me, Donna Reed was never Miss Ellie. I’m glad they brought back the real Miss Ellie (Barbara Bel Geddes) after her quadruple bypass. Anyway, Dallas started going even further downhill when they killed Bobby because he was bored with the show. I read that. What’s Bobby going to do, though, now that he’s dead? What do you think? “Anyway, to start Knots Landing, Gary left Southfork and moved to California. Gary is a nice guy, but he has problems. He used to be an alcoholic. he was really knocking back the booze, but then he dried out. He used to be married to Val, but now he’s married to Abby. But if you ask me, Val was Gary’s true love, and Gary was Val’s. Gary has always felt rejected. Now Gary doesn’t know about it, but Abby, his wife is a real devil. She’ll kill to keep that Ewing name and that Ewing money, and she’s fooled Gary from the beginning. She’s a compulsive liar. Gary thinks he loves her, but he’ll see through her sooner or later. When that happens–watch out! But if you ask me, Abby is more real than Alexis on Dynasty. Alexis plots like a man. When she wants something done, she picls up the phone and calls the President of the United States and has him do it. But Abby plots the way a woman would. She schemes and schemes. Abby’s double-crossing and triple-crossing everybody, and getting away with it. I love that! Abby is behind all of Val and Gary’s troubles, but they don’t know it. “You see, the big thing right now is trying to get Val’s twin babies (stolen at birth, and illegally adopted by another couple) back to her. (They were returned in this season’s second episode). Gary is the babies’ father, but he doesn’t know it. Val has let on that the father is her new fiance (now husband), Ben, but it’s Gary. How did Gary get to be the father? After he divorced Val, and the night before he married Abby, he snuck back to Val for a one-night stand. Abby knows that Gary is the father, and so does what’s-his-name, the (former) senator, Greg Sumner. Greg Sumner and Abby are plotting together, and Abby has gotten Gary to put a lot of money into some secret, illegal project (Empire Valley). That senator is a crook. naturally, Abby doesn’t want Gary to find out he’s the babies’ father. Why not? Because then he might go back to Val, of course! Or he could change his will and leave all his money to the babies, and Abby wouldn’t get any! “Val’s going to have a rough time. Val’s a little flaky, but she’s really a nice girl. She’s really sweet. She’s never done anything bad. her only problem is that she’s always going into a state of shock. So people use her. She’s to honest. She won’t lie. She and Sue Ellen on Dallas have a lot in common. If anybody can save Dallas, it’s Sue Ellen, if you ask me. She’s drying out again after being back on the bottle. But I predict: JR will take Sue Ellen back. He always takes Sue Ellen back. “But that Abby is so smart! And pretty, too. I read where she’s going to have her own cosmetics line. That’s another thing I like about Knots Landing–their hair styles keep changing. i notice that, because I’m into hair. Everybody should his hair style now and then– that’s natural. And on Knots Landing they dress more like real people do– more natural. Val loves jeans. their houses are more like real people’s houses. On Dynasty, they’re like movie sets, and the clothes are like a fashion show. i wouldn’t be caught dead in one of Alexis’ dresses. I’m actually thinking of giving up watching Dynasty altogether. It’s just more of the same. I watch the daytime reruns of Dallas and Dynasty, too– there’s a TV in my shop– and all I see is those same people getting older. Do you see what I mean about Knots Landing being more down-to-earth?” In Donna’s opinion, Dynasty is losing ground because it’s trying to copy Dallas. “Dynasty’s been getting ready for a spinoff (Dynasty 2: The Colbys), like Knots Landing was a spinoff of Dallas,” she said between mouthfuls. “That’s what Charlton Heston and Barbara Stanwyck are doing, getting ready to spinoff with Jeff to California–the way Gary did on Dallas. That’s copying, if you ask me. “But, if you ask me, the main thing that makes Knots Landing better than either of the other two is that the relationships between the people are more, like, real. I mean the relationships between the cvouples, between Gary and Val, between Gary and Abby and between Mack and Karen. They’re more human. mack really cared when Karen was in the hospital (for a drug problem)–you could tell. You can tell how much Val loves Gary. Does what’s-her-name (Amanda) on Dynasty really love that prince? I think she just wanted to be queen. And when they fight on Dallas and Dynasty, it’s like the way they fight in Bugs Bunny cartoons–insulting each other, and cracknig wise, and setting littel traps for each other. In real life, couples don’t fight that way. The relationships on Knots Landing are more, like, subtle. On Knots Landing, when couples fight, they really suffer. I mean, when I fight with a man, I suffer. i don’t make wise-crack. I can never think of a good wisecrack until later. On Dallas and Dynasty, it’s like the writers are writing the story for the characters. On Knots Landing, the writers re letting the characters write their own story, if you know what I mean.” Donna paused, and pondered her salad, as though impressed, and a bit surprised, with her own insight. “OK, so if you ask me, here’s what I predict: On Knots Landing, Gary’s going to have to find out he’s the father of Val’s babies. but rather than let him do that, Abby could have him killed. That might happen. Or that senator, what’s-his-name, Greg Sumner, could get killed, particularly when they get to the bottom of all this illegal business. And Abby will be behind it all, of course. And watch out for Lilimae! She’s been pretty quiet lately, and she could be up to something. Anyway, that’s what I think. What do you think?”- Knots Landing
That’s a good question. I see Falcon Crest is coming back too, which means Prime now will have all four of the big 80s primetime soaps on it. i would definitely shell out some $$ for sure especially if remastered versions came out.- ALL Soaps: Grade November Sweeps 2024
Hmmm…. Y&R: For once it wasn’t a sleeps month at all lol. I’ll give it a B-, getting the minus because of going there with Billy and Sally 😤 Days: C- Only watch sparingly depending on what’s going with each episode lol. Interested in seeing how Doug’s funeral turns out. B&B: Z- What else is new lol?- Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board
Poor wittle Billy didn’t even attend his family Thanksgiving dinner, probably because he’s too busy throwing tantrums about getting revenge to anyone willing to listen. In other words…- Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board
To clarify I don’t think it was a look of jealousy, it was more of a repulsive look like “Eww why is she kissing Kyle that’s gross” look. LOL if that makes sense. I will say except for Billy (isn’t that always the case lol) it’s been a decent short week.- Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board

After the past few years of lackluster Thanksgivings (that repugnant fantasy episode involving Phyllis and Gloria on Thanksgiving back in 2021 still haunts me!) it’s actually nice we got an actual family and character driven Thanksgiving episode this year. Highlights for were the Nate, Amy, and Audra scenes as I found their scenes very poignant and sweet. Abbott family thanksgiving was a hoot with Ashley and Traci tearing into Jack and Diane, the underlying tension, and heck Summer giving Kyle & Claire the look. Enjoyed the Newmans too. @Liberty City @Taoboi You both aren’t kidding, Peck is looking like a hot daddy 🥰 Also agree with the sentiments that MTS is looking regal again, her current hairstyle is also a nice throwback back to her 1998-2001 Alden era hair that I loved so much.- Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
LOL I wasn’t going to mention my school age self may or may not have watched Mr Belvedere… 🤫🤭 But seriously if I had been an adult in the late 70’s and early 80’s I would have laughed out loud and sneered at both The Love Boat and Fantasy Island, and maybe Webster too.- Complete Original 20 seasons of Law & Order set to stream on Hulu...
In other words “Remember when Ben Stone and Jack McCoy use to lose?” I really enjoyed Law & Order until Carey Lowell exited after Season 8, after that the show became a mess IMO and became so perfunctory. I think S18-20 tried to get back to what those first 8 seasons had but it just didn’t work. Ironically L&O’s lack of serialization ended up working against it badly in the streaming era.- Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
One thing these 80’s ratings always remind me was there was once an audience for Friday and Saturday nights amongst the networks but it’s been lost over the years. Heck I like to imagine myself cozying up on the couch on a Friday evening with some Chardonnay making appointment time with Dallas and Falcon Crest after a long week at work, barring the fact I did the same the night before for Knots Landing 😁 Then stay in for Golden Girls on Saturday nights just long enough before going out lol to Oliver Cheatham’s “Get Down Saturday Night” By the 90s for me Friday & Saturday nights were for The X-Files and Sisters but of course I still underage lol. I didn’t realize this pure absence until later on in the mid-00’s when I realized often my Saturday nights I didn’t go out often revolved watching Knots & Y&R reruns on SoapNet or Doctor Who revival on SciFi. Not going to lie but the last soapy Friday night fare i actually watched live was Dynasty 2.0, which provided a campy soapy comfort on Friday nights I was missing. 😅- Y&R: November 2024 Spoilers
Let me do some analysis of this interview shall we… “Let’s not count Jack out.” Well Victor always wins so let’s count him out. This feud is ancient news anyways. “We looked into [the history] and in our research, we remembered Amy,” Of course this was the same research that JG did when he found Victoria once had a dead daughter. “I think that’s a Romeo and Juliet story just waiting to happen because we’ve got two warring families [in their background].” 🙄Lord. We’ve already seen/heard this before with Billy/Victoria, Kyle/Summer, and pretty sure JG said something like this about the ill-fated Noah and Allie. Rinse, wash, and repeat. “And I think the audience is going to be intrigued by a Billy/Sally/Phyllis triangle.” No we are not, not at all really. This sounds like an early lump of coal from JG for Christmas. At least CH can out act Stafford on any given day. “And I think that Lily is going to find true love.” Has potential but there’s not much here to go on. Our Daniel/Lily reunion got the shaft, and I don’t want to see Lily be stuck mothering Billy again. Perhaps our incoming Damien will indeed be the new love interest? Don’t tell me the show is going to tease Lily and Nick again either. “It’s going to be an exciting winter. I think that from now until the end of 2024, fans can look forward to a roller coaster of suspense, romance, family, explosions and twists and turns like they haven’t seen.” What JG meant to actually say was this: “Fans shall be prepared for a very mundane and monotonous winter, wondering if the show will ever exciting again, as they grumble over the latest odious twists, disappointing couples, and see boredom and misery like they haven’t seen before!”- Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board
Nope! This is the end result of that [!@#$%^&*] ridiculous OCD quadrangle that no one asked for from this past summer. MCE and Grossman have zero chemistry. It’s why all their 2019-21 stuff just didn’t work. CH’s Sally doesn’t deserve this.- Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board
I was wondering about that too. Too bad. Maybe we’ll get something for Christmas and maybe around New Year’s too? Last year it was a 1993 episode and a pair of 2003 episodes if I recall right. Thanksgiving can be hit or miss on CBS over the years. We’ve had years like the early 00’s, 2012 & 2013 and last year were something at least 10+years old aired, while other years a lot more recent episodes aired, and then some years all of the lineup was pre-empted entirely depending on what football rights CBS or in the case of one year, to show the Rugrats movies instead lol.- Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board
🤣🤣🤣 This is one of those times where if Gina was still in the role these scenes would’ve been more moving and root able. Only thing I gave the Staff is at least she didn’t descend into giggles during her usual over the top hysterics.- Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board
I’ll share my thoughts later this week once we ge through tomorrow (and I skipped through a lot of Wednesday’s episode between local station here in South Carolina forminterruptions for Susan Smith parole hearing but also due to too much Billy lol so I may have to go back!) That said while the high from last week has lessened, I like this week so far a lot. Probably the first time in a long time we have actually gotten 2-3 weeks of worthy sweeps material and not sleeps material in sweeps month as we like to say. Highlights for the week for me so far include Jack/Diane/Kyle, Victor vs Diane, Sharon’s confession, Daniel’s rage and surprisingly Ian and Jordan Elena back with zero fanfare. We need to see her reaction to Nate and Audra 🤣 Also Sally telling Chelsea off, made better with Connor telling Sally he wished she was still around when Chelsea randomly appeared to remind us that she still exists. LOL. Hopefully Adam and Sally will reconcile by Christmas/New Year’s and leave both Billy and Chelsea in the cold 🤣 Meanwhile if our manchilds Billy and Kyle do end up back at Jabot having to face off with each other I’m here for it lol.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
