Ron Carlivati is what Kathy Griffin would call a "bad gay."

Josh Griffith interview from SOD: a whole new YR
That would make more sense. Nate leaves practicing medicine to work for a medical conglomerate or some such, and then feels conflicted that he isn't doing the kind of work he was trained to do, even though he's still working in the medical field. Sigh. Could we just agree that WE, the posters of SON, know and could write this show better than the people who are being paid to?

Josh Griffith interview from SOD: a whole new YR
Josh is so talking out of his ass there. Neil would have wanted Nate to honor his mother's legacy and stay in medicine. In fact, if Neil (and Drucilla) were alive and still on the canvas, and if Olivia were still on the canvas as well, all three would rage at him for turning his back on his true calling. Heck, I wouldn't have been surprised if KSJ had ad-libbed a line about the medical profession (and Genoa City Memorial) needing more "bruthas" like Nate to ensure that POC receive the adequate medical care that they deserve! This was (and is) really the time for Y&R to introduce a Mark Zuckerberg- or Jack Dorsey-type, who blazes into GC with his apps and such and gives Victor, who'd represent the out-of-touch establishment or "old guard," a run for his proverbial money in the tech markets. GC might have started out small or medium-sized, but I think decades of development and expansion have likely turned it into a metropolis. At least, that's how I view it.

Here's how I would handle that situation: You have Allie, the budding chemical engineer, who follows in her family's footsteps, working at Jabot Labs, until she develops a concept that becomes a cosmetics line for AAPI women; who becomes CONSUMED with guilt when, after spending her entire life never giving a thought to anything but proving herself worthy of her demanding father's love, she falls in love for the first time with her new business partner, the very married Chance... ...and you have Allie's younger, decidedly less serious-minded sister, who has always DREAMED of living in splendor; who sees finally becoming part of the very white, very rich Abbott family as a chance at legitimacy after years of being the target of racism and bigotry, but who also thinks nothing of using her "exotic-ness" as an Asian female to get what she wants, especially from men; and who proves just how big of a schemer she truly is when she lures Ashland, newly estranged from Victoria, into a tryst, fakes a pregnancy to get him to marry her, then conveniently "miscarries" the child while Ashland is away on business. And no, I would not have Keemo dead either.

I definitely agree. That's why I pitched in another thread the idea of Allie going to work at Jabot and eventually creating a new cosmetics line that is targeted toward the AAPI community. The cosmetics industry is changing, as consumers are demanding more and better diversity/representation. Y&R should definitely reflect those changes.

YR actor out.
Yeah, I'm glad we're done (at least for the time being) with "stories" about Sharon either screwing random guys or turning up at funerals in wedding dresses.

Show me a TV series or movie that doesn't have at least a little BTS drama, and I'll show you a TV series or movie that never progressed beyond the page.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Once again, I have to hand it to Doug Marland (and to Laurie Caso): when David Stewart died, in 1991, they brought back Annie, Betsy and Dee for his funeral (even if Betsy was played by someone who hadn't played the role before). I doubt Chris Goutman would have cared enough had he been EP.

Agree. With all of it. Good point! The only other time I can recall someone getting slapped at the Oscars was in "A Star Is Born" - and that was just a movie! When someone shows you who they are the first time....

Y&R April 2022 Discussion Thread
Jack: "But, Diane, you're supposed to be dead!" Diane: "Dead? I'm not dead!" Jack: "But you are! Nikki killed you, remember?" Diane: "Killed me? Nikki? Wait, are you talking about my twin sister, Debbie! So THAT's what happened to her! Gosh, I hadn't seen or heard from Deb in years! Anyways. What's good?"

Hey, anything to make this show interesting again!

"Nikki Kills People" is like the streaming series you're glad to see being revived, lol.

Josh Griffith interview from SOD: a whole new YR
Agree. There were definitely ways to bring back Keemo, reunite him with the rest of Abbotts AND still keep spinning suspenseful story from that. And will somebody please tell those idiots that Kay was not a businesswoman? Now, Jill living alone at the Chancellor Mansion, drunk off her ass 24/7 and screwing every stable boy in sight - THAT would be the legacy that Miss Chancellor would want to leave behind, lol.

Film Awards Thread
I think what pisses me off is that Will was (reportedly) ASKED to leave the ceremonies. Like, that right there displays the kind of privilege that gets afforded to celebrities (even AA celebrities) over non-celebrities. Because, if he'd been just plain, ordinary Will Smith from West Philadelphia, PA, he wouldn't have been ASKED to leave. He wouldn't have even been TOLD to leave. Security would have just escorted his ass off the stage, out of the building and into the back of a waiting police car.

GH: Classic Thread
OMG, was it really over Kung Fu Barbie? Of all the shitty things to break up a partnership over, lol! IA about Sonny/Carly. They've been going in circles for the longest time. As a matter of fact, given everything the two (and viewers) have been through over the years, I think Carly has overreacted to Sonny hooking up with Nina. She's acting as if her entire world has been destroyed when she should be like, "Is it Tuesday again already?".

Film Awards Thread
I guess it doesn't surprise me (much) that Will took a night that was supposed to be about honoring the film industry and made it all about himself because, well, he always came across to me as that kind of jerk. I mean, I loved watching "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" when I was younger, but that had more to do with the talent surrounding Will than with Will himself. Also: maybe I'm wrong - I hope I'm wrong - but I feel like it'll be a long, long time before ABC allows another African-American to produce the Academy Awards. Of course, Will Packer had no way of knowing what was going to happen, but I worry that he'll receive some of the heat from the network or the Academy nevertheless.

Ratings from the 1990s
I don't know about MNF or "Home Improvement," but I know there was a time when "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" was practically the only thing ABC had going for it.

GH: Classic Thread
I do, too. Even if it's just for one scene - Sonny gets into a car, and guess who's in the seat next to his? - I don't see Sonny leaving PC, or GH leaving the airwaves, without that final button on the Sonny/Brenda saga. IIRC, didn't Guza and Pratt have a major falling-out that led directly to the latter leaving GH?
