  1. Yasmine Bleeth was a hot commodity on two soaps and later on Baywatch. It doesn't surprise me they held onto her, even if Lee Ann had a rocky start under Rauch. The thing with Nicholas Walker's Max is so gross. I'm not sure if they just waited out Bleeth's contract to play teen drama (the pregnancy and marriage to Kevin) or if they'd wanted her to stay longer, but she clearly wasn't going to. Stephanie doesn't seem to have ever worked - I think they recast a month in, and the character had only been on a little over two months before this nonsense with Kevin and his siblings trying to rescue her from Carlo. The whole thing with her singing Miami Sound Machine over and over is unbearable and I hope it wasn't Gottlieb's idea but given her focus on bringing in more contemporary music I wouldn't be shocked. There were a lot of stories about Griggs being a problem BTS. I'm not sure if she even lasted six months on contract, as I think they brought her back in '92 for the Carlo murder mystery. I didn't know until recently there was any potential interruption in her run on the show. I may be wrong on that. This random hiatuses happened with a few people in both Malone runs, including Grace Phillips in 1992 who allegedly had a bad relationship with Gottlieb and bolted or was fired fast. From what I've seen she was very good. I know she was off for months and months after being played very heavy in early '92, then when she returned for maybe one or two days in November engaged to Bo she died in the car crash immediately.
  2. Summer 1991: Viki just rolls with family acquaintance Alex taking her two younger children to Loon Lake out of nowhere. Times were different for us all.
  3. If it's DC some of us will know it. There better be go-go music somewhere!
  4. Nicholas Walker undoubtedly had serious chemistry with Fiona Hutchison and was clearly very committed to the work, but his Max often comes off OTT and effete too much moving into the realm of camp. I'm curious how he was received (and how long it took Matt Kingston to be unmasked as Max in '90).
  5. I remember that Pleshette interview, lol. The wonderful advantage of sites like that one and Tommy Krasker's blog is both got extensive interviews with staff and cast while they were still here, including Krasker talking to Richard Gollance. You do get the sense depending on who you ask that Filerman might have his own POV and version of events, but I guess everyone does. I guess Marcus either came up with the Ciji pitch before leaving or lingered into Season 4 longer than we knew.
  6. Pine Valley's own Michael B. Jordan plays a dual role in Ryan Coogler's much-hyped horror film, Sinners.
  7. Again, I'd agree with more of that if polling hadn't shown that Harris' personal, individual stats went way up after the debate in terms of knowing and trusting her. But I guess we'll see.
  8. Her personal favorables and know/trust numbers skyrocketed after the debate, so I don't think this is an issue anymore.
  9. Yep. For many years, but it also goes back to Ron's time who worked closely with him at both shows. They would regularly drop key plots or subplots for weeks at a time and expect everyone to hop back onboard later, sometimes with things having happened entirely offscreen.
  10. So are many of the others recently cited. I'm calling it an outlier because every reputable pollster and credible poll analyst (including people like Jain and Nate Cohn, and Times analysts themselves) are calling it an outlier. That doesn't mean it's a crank poll, but it is outside the norm of most other state polling out there and most reputable folks are baffled by those results. So as it is, it's not worth me dooming about. Meanwhile:
  11. Semafor in rare form:
  12. A tale of two cities: Virtually ever pollster and pundit is regarding the NYT numbers for AZ/GA/NC as a strange outlier vs. all other recent polling, so I am not particularly pressed about it at present. Just means everyone needs to stay vigilant.
  13. Mostly to him these days.
  14. Janet Jackson's widely mocked stupid opinions are not going to open up a major new vulnerability for Kamala Harris. I love Janet's music but online she is getting universally dragged outside the right wing for this and new polling has shown Trump has not been able to substantially capture the Black vote (as white pundits kept mythologizing), let's keep things in perspective.
  15. I always blamed FV's seeming disinterest in Lucky, Brenda, etc. in wanting to keep control of a show where popular longtime stars that pre-dated him would upset his balance of personal favorites and mediocre longtimers. (I still think that's a factor, and I def think it's personal with VM.) But the story that's circulated recently alleges that FV supposedly held out for both Jonathan and JMB for Lucky and Lulu for a very long time instead of recasting, and I've heard it enough now that I tend to believe it's true. That being said I wouldn't be shocked if he turned out to be the dog that caught the car with JJ - as in, waiting for Jonathan was a convenient excuse for years until the ratings plummeted and someone had to take pushing for it seriously.
  16. She's awful. Not that Jordan has ever had a purpose on the show. The character is like so many others: Long since expired but kept running as part of a zombie ensemble.
