  1. The cliche grieving mother writing for Alexis is so surface-level. These writes can’t write anything with depth, nor can Frank produce anything with real depth or emotion. NLG is doing all the heavy lifting here.
  2. Mamie tested very highly with black women in the South as an fyi. A lot of black women wrote into the show about the character. However, a lot of them felt she wasn’t entirely reflective of who they were, so Bell created Drucilla and Olivia as a response.
  3. Oh god, not Van Hansis doing that awful fish mouth acting again in emotional scenes. As green as he is, I am sure Asher Antonyzyn (Danny) will be the better actor in those scenes…
  4. The better lighting has done wonders for these actors as they don’t look washed out like they used to.
  5. I think the Bell example is because he was also a credited EP/producer on Y&R remotely, like MVJ will be for BTG. This stemmed from a Twitter post about MVJ going back to LA and how she was going to produce a show remotely, I believe. Did Irna have a producer credit in addition to creator and HW credits? She, of course, did micromanage every aspect of her shows remotely regardless as well.
  6. MVJ is ultimately the creator, HW, and main creative EP - it’s her reputation on the line if the storytelling sucks or is offensive to the audience. I chose to believe she won’t tolerate any nonsense since this is her creative legacy on the line here.
  7. Frank never had much of a vision on his own to begin with at either OLTL or GH. He keeps things moving, but “visionary” is never going to be a word associated with him.
  8. Stafford posted a few bts videos of the car crash scenes on her IG and you tell they put a lot of effort into it. You can also see Ed Scott in the background supervising sh!t in one video. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCXDsBlS7rB/?igsh=MWNkdnc5Mmh6cjg4ag== https://www.instagram.com/reel/DCUyQhLSxbP/?igsh=M3NjOXY3c2Fxemdm
  9. I forgot to mention that I liked that sequence in Thursday’s episode of Nikki announcing Devon and Abby as husband and wife with the happy wedding music in the background, and then Victor waking to the door with the music shifting to something more intense. Griffith’s stories are still mundane and illogical, but at least the show is more aesthetically pleasing than it’s been in a long time. It definitely helps elevate the questionable material.
  10. Faith also wasn’t at the wedding - Abby’s her aunt, Victor and Nikki are her grandparents, but she went out with friends instead (all while Sharon is mentally unhinged mind you).
  11. Regardless of material, Hansis was always a pretty sh!t actor that overplayed everything at all times to me.
  12. Saw this and only wished it actually happened... https://twitter.com/thecoltonnewman/status/1857505595722707006
  13. Yes, no different than when say Bill Bell worked and lived in Chicago for years, but was still the Senior Executive Producer of Y&R.
  14. MVJ is not a technical producer, she doesn't need to be on-set supervising production or dealing with the actors. I assume that's what Julie Hanan Carruthers will be primarily responsible for. It makes sense MVJ was there for the first 3 week since she created the show and they likely needed her to advise as the show got off the ground.
  15. This was directed by Owen Renfroe - when you see his name in the credits, or Sally McDonald's, you know the episodes will be interesting and visually appealing from a directing standpoint. Shots like this were also a hallmark of classic Y&R, so likely some input from Ed Scott (who is in the booth with the directors a lot) as well
  16. Yep, and actually, P&G does that for a lot of their employees and associates in general.
  17. Sally McDonald and Owen Renfroe both directed 2 episodes each this week - they’re the best directors on the show and it shows in the finished products.
  18. Yeah, the car crash was well staged. Great directing by Owen Renfroe and Ed Scott for production. Had this been produced before Scott rejoined, we would have probably seen a quick flash of Phyllis going off the road and then cut to the next scene of her in a hospital bed.
