  1. I definitely think soaps need to stay away or minimally use CGI - they don’t have Marvel or Star Wars budgets, stop trying to overreach.
  2. Probably Ed and Melody, lol. The whole episode definitely had Ed’s production touch.
  3. Yes, though Hoffman said the idea has been toyed around for years and they finally did it. Makes me wonder if this would have happed earlier if not for the pandemic and various union strikes (less applicable to soaps but still applicable). That said, Scott’s return to managing production coincided with the introduction of the new set even though he didn’t order it or was involved with the planning. Hoffman has been the production designer for decades as well (hired by Scott originally actually). I shutter to wonder what the unveiling of this set would have looked like under the lighting and production design the show had earlier this year - probably as garish as everything else looked.
  4. How many has Victor had on Y&R again?
  5. Strangely, no writing/producing/directing credits were posted on today’s US episode. I’ll just credit Ed Scott for everything good, lol, since it was a standalone focused on one set and set of characters. I also noticed that the lighting has been adjusted and gotten a bit darker/richer again. That makes the show look so much better. Again, kudos to Ed Scott for that.
  6. Unless I’m blind, I didn’t see any writing/directing/producing credits listed on today’s Y&R episode. I’ll check the CBS site later when the episode is uploaded, but neither the CBS nor the Global linear airings had any of these credits.
  7. @Faulkner - I’d check out today’s US episode just because it’s a bit of a standalone and not focused on moving any of Griffth’s boring stories along. That, and the flashbacks, classic music cues, new Newman Ranch set reveal, etc. You can definitely see why they needed Ed Scott back to help lead production.
  8. Also, I want to revisit what the hell is really going on with this show's classic library of music. Friday's US episode is basically all classic cues, and there's instances where they'll dig some of classic stuff up from time to time. We've heard all that stuff about Sony selling off the show's original music, but it doesn't look like that's the full story or a 100% true thing. I also seriously doubt they have the budget to keep paying for music they used to own but have since sold away.
  9. Her name is Mandy Line, but she's not made it into the credits yet. Outgoing Costume Designer, David Zyla, is still credited. Perhaps Mandy shows up in the credits next week in time for the 13K episode? Yes, Renfroe is a FOJ that stuck around Y&R and has proven himself with both the cast and crew there (I've heard he's very beloved). His work is very artistic/cinematic, and like I said, you can always tell when either he or Sally McDonald are directing. His work on GH was also quite stellar as he did a lot of key episodes during Guza's various sweeps stunts storylines.
  10. That’s strange, it was posted only today too. They basically went into an ethnically-diverse and lower-income community in the Bronx (a historically Democratic stronghold). Trump apparently did a lot of outreach there and had significant voting gains there vs. the previous elections. Anyway, most people said Trump spoke about the issues they cared about (economy, inflation, illegal migration). That, and coupled with him visiting the area/doing outreach there was enough for them to switch and vote for him. It’s fascinating how these people that Trump likely has no regard for in reality were so willing to switch party lines and vote for him in this election.
  11. Interesting local NY News reporting:
  12. Tomorrow’s US episode is must watch, not just for the reveal of the new Newman Ranch set, but because of all the classic Nikki/Victor flashbacks, classic music cues that are used, and the opulent production and directing. You can clearly see the difference and why they needed Ed Scott back to handle production.
  13. I think some of the recent music selection (well from this week) has been in the style of the old music in some scenes, but not quite it. Tomorrow’s US episode actually uses a lot of the classic cues, and not just for flashbacks.
  14. Tomorrow’s US episode is filled with old Nikki/Victor flashbacks and classic music cues for those of you interested.
  15. No spoilers, but tomorrow’s US episode is a treat for the production values, directing, music, and flashbacks used. You can see why they needed Ed Scott back to handle production…
  16. I hate the way Van Hansis cries - that annoying mouth scrunch as if the playground bully stole his favourite toy. 😬 He apparently teaches acting, and I really feel for those students and their investment…
  17. Democrats should be starting now on what the strategy is for laying the groundwork for the 2026 midterms. They have to start with figuring out what went wrong with Gen Z, and working class Hispanic and African American males voters. In fact, the working class in general. Can they win them back or will their margins continue to recede?
  18. I also think it's the Director of the episode. Owen Renfroe directed today's US episode and he's known for incorporating a lot of cinematic shots and angles. You'll always notice the directing with him, and with Sally McDonald (the last Bell-era remaining member on staff). I do think Ed Scott has been very hands with the directing though as some angles for sets like the Abbot mansion, and GCAC changed starting with his first episode back.
  19. Consistency is key!
  20. Very much so - the only thing I can glean is that racism and sexism run deep, despite of political party affiliation. Many Democrats would rather see Trump elected than support a Black woman running for presidency.
