Y&R: November 2024 Discussion Board
I also think it's the Director of the episode. Owen Renfroe directed today's US episode and he's known for incorporating a lot of cinematic shots and angles. You'll always notice the directing with him, and with Sally McDonald (the last Bell-era remaining member on staff). I do think Ed Scott has been very hands with the directing though as some angles for sets like the Abbot mansion, and GCAC changed starting with his first episode back.

Very much so - the only thing I can glean is that racism and sexism run deep, despite of political party affiliation. Many Democrats would rather see Trump elected than support a Black woman running for presidency.

It’s super annoying having Phyllis run around town like the avenging angel as if she hasn’t done sh!t that’s just as bad. I don’t think Sharon actually killed Heather (but she is guilty of moving and disposing the body, I suppose), but they do actually need to stop treading water and move this “story” to the next level already.

We lost, but it's time to look forward to the next midterms and how we can mitigate some of this sh!t, and empower better voter participation from the party so we don't find ourselves always losing ground. This needs to inspire some serious reckoning within the Democratic party and what the plan is to counter this MAGA domination and lay the groundwork for 2028.

Trump aside, this was a damning condemnation for the Democratic party by not just the MAGA contingent, but also within its own party, and casuals who have no strong political affiliation at all. Now Trump has: A Senate majority A House majority A Supreme Court made in his vision This is a disaster and it will have detrimental ramifications for generations to come. The biggest question for me is where does the Democratic party go from here? Who is the future of the Democratic party that has a legitimate chance in 4 years? How can they successfully reinvent their image and galvanize voters to come out in both the next mid-terms and the next presidential election? Democrats only seem to come out in waves to make a difference for their party's candidate when it's a massive rebuttal to something (Bush-era politics, Trump's first term, etc.). I guess they have the next Trump term to galvanize and empower their base to come out and make a difference. But make no mistake, tonight was a crushing defeat for that party from all sides.

Democrats needed to come out in droves to mitigate this, but they didn’t. Even in Democrat strongholds, Trump often outperformed his standings from 2016 and 2020, while margins for Democrat were down. Not only has he won the electoral college, this is the first time he’s actually won the popular vote too. Infuriating.

It’s revolting that Trump will also have a GOP controlled House and Senate once again in his hands. This election was a travesty, and history is repeating itself in the absolute worst way possible.

It was also the unpredictable Hispanic vote - the Democrats lost traction with Hispanic males in this election, they need to do a postmortem on why that happened and why Trump resonated so strongly with that group this time around.

White women and working class Hispanics came out for Trump it seems. Again, very sad and disheartening.- The Politics Thread
Racism and misogyny run deep in this country that so many people would rather vote for a convicted criminal who had a disastrous previous term as president.- The Politics Thread

Working class Hispanic voters came out for Trump across the board this time it seems. That’s …. really unfortunate- The Politics Thread
Oh boy, hearing Trump has picked up steam with Hispanic voters in Pennsylvania this time around. That’s not good. 🤬- The Politics Thread
Not necessarily, the heavy Democrat-leaning counties in those states aren’t close to finished with counting votes yet.- The Politics Thread
Again, we need to hope Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania all stay blue. If just one slips, it’s over for the Harris campaign.- The Politics Thread
Basically, we better hope like hell none of them flip to that [!@#$%^&*].- The Politics Thread

Ohio is a good consolation if she can't win GA.- The Politics Thread
It all comes down to Pennsylvania, if she loses that, it's all over for her. I hope she can prevail there the most. - The Politics Thread
