  1. Interesting.
  2. Not surprised really. Kiki is hungry since she hasn't had a good win in over a year and, as for Osaka it seems to have become the norm for many WTA to have a dip after such a winnings high. In winning back to back GS titles, Osaka surprised even me that expected her to win a major title in her career. I knew a dip was coming but didn't really know when.
  3. While Tsitsipas claims that he was hacked.
  4. Here here, 🍷 Cheers @DRW50!
  5. When is he going to jail? I'm tired of hearing about this fool.
  6. Most of us already knew that this happened in NC but it's that "substantially resourced" part that grabbed my attention. Also wondering when agribusiness and vulture capitalists will swoop in for land grabs.
  7. I had wondered when this was coming.
  8. The irony is that just last year, The New York Times began a section in the Obituary column that highlights what they refer to as obituaries of "overlooked" figures, mainly women and minorities who, for whatever reason (usually racism and misogyny) have never appeared in major publications (like The Times) despite how accomplished, esteemed or notable these figures were. And then they publish this. SMH. @Cat Just over the weekend, in the Canceled Soaps section, I posted that The New York Times is one of the places that does pre-obituary videos where they interview notable and famous people and ask them about their life and legacy. The video obituary allows the subject to talk in his/her own words. They did this with former NYC mayor Edward I. Koch. They've been known to do this over the past decade. A few years ago, NYT did an obit for a wealthy socialite whose family was mired in scandal upon her death and they did a much better job on her obituary. I barely know who Radziwill was but I can see that her obit seems deliberately cutting.
  9. More on the MPs exodus from Labour.
  10. @DaysFanatic777 It's nice to make your acquaintance. Thank you for the very kind words. I'm surprised at the amount and pace that I post here but the discussions with other posters are so engaging that I find myself posting, a LOT (lol). Other than the occasional troll, I really enjoy the level of discussion on so many topics on this board. @Khan Man, you are dealing with a lot. Your mom is your mom so, it's not like dealing with a distant relative, so it must be a challenge. I guess in that situation you've got to love your mom "through it" and hope that maybe some day there'll be an awakening in her political consciousness, and your brother's as well. My mom is pretty religious but she often prays for Donald Trump...to go away (lol)! She absolutely cannot stand the man! For me, I try not to talk to her about him too much for fear that he'll raise her blood pressure. The headlines have become so outrageous that it sometimes feels like it's becoming hard to discern what news stories are genuine and which are satire! Some of those articles I don't bother to post, like one today that was supposedly tweeted by the Southern Poverty Law Center. I swear that must've been a spoofed twitter page because I couldn't believe what I saw.
  11. Yeah, I can't muster any sympathy either. The one thought that I keep having is that agribusiness is likely to snap up those plots of land like customers at a fire sale so that they can have even more crops to spray with toxic pesticides before they send them the produce to market. Also, I find it very interesting that Russia's agricultural industry is benefiting at the exact same time that the U.S. is in trouble. The causation factor is definitely a part of this. The emphasis has been on the mining industry and the agricultural sector with nary a thought about how retail is bleeding out, along with the hundreds of thousands of jobs with it.
  12. That NYTimes obit seemed to put Lee Radziwill in her sister's shadow...again. She outlived Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis by over 20 years and The New York Times couldn't find anything that belonged to Lee alone that they could expand upon? These was not a very good, nor respectful obituary, imo. The one thing that interested me was that picture of her and Farley Granger that was in the article.
  13. #MarALardass is trending on Twitter!
  14. I'm so happy for Monfils. Good match, great play and the speeches, which I usually ignore seemed genuine. Stan had a pretty good week too.
  15. I had no idea that Jo has sickle cell anemia.
  16. No city or town should be allowed to keep the terms undisclosed when it comes to the people's business. Too many people think that desperation is a justified reason to let Amazon have its own way. Chicago is a major city, it's not Detroit (which Amazon had no intention of even considering on a serious level), why should they bend over backwards to be spanked by Amazon? Amazon's claim to want to "invest" in these communities is highly suspect. And corporate incentives rarely yield the benefits that they promise to the cities and town. Cities and towns are already starved for tax revenue and the GOP tax "reform" has exacerbated the situation. Whatever "loss" NYC is suffering is political clout.
  17. Yeah, I try not to directly respond to anything that particular poster puts on the boards but I guess it can be regarded as an indirect response. Sometimes the temptation is a lot but I'll have to keep in mind what you said.
  18. Every city should start saying no to these demands for these outrageous incentives. Amazon paid no federal taxes for the last two years and yet they feel entitled to $3BN worth of incentives, while they'd do nothing to alleviate the huge affordable housing crisis that NYC already has. Just say no. Even Mike Bloomberg thought it wasn't right for NYC and few politicians love catering to the wealthy as much as he does! Someone subtweeted that Trump's hair must have also taken the day off.
  19. I agree and have always wondered why there hadn't been more of an acknowledgement, at the very least by P&G and CBS about this. Having said that, I don't even understand why people are comparing three wholly unique characters who were each portrayed by gifted actresses (all in their own right). They all needed better recognition, in a way each one was undervalued but yes, I agree that Lisa the original daytime vixen and should've been better acknowledged as such. Perhaps if P&G had done a better job of promoting their talent, the way that other soaps had done (Susan Lucci, Deidre Hall, Erika Slezak, etc.) there might have been greater recognition. Kim Zimmer had some recognition, especially after she won the Emmy but it feels as if she is more of an exception to the P&G rule.
  20. So The New York Times has to admit that Trump's national emergency declaration is unlike any of his predecessors, no matter what he claims. For one, none of the other presidents used a national emergency declaration to thwart Congress on something Congress already rejected. Trump did. That is a fundamental difference. Presidents Have Declared Dozens of Emergencies, but None Like Trump’s
