  1. Caroline has a job but she's only a trainee who has been shown at her office less than a handful of times. Brooke keeps telling Dave that she wants to get her career started before marriage but so far, we have yet to see her at an actual job. Since it's already November 1987, maybe what you have described happens in '88?
  2. He raped four young women and the judge, who apparently prayed before handing down the sentence claimed that he felt that jail time would be "inappropriate".
  3. Sometimes, from the tone of these articles it seems as though Western media seems disappointed by this.
  4. Something that I just found out, at random. The reason why the actors who were on The Kids Of Degrassi Street who went on to Degrassi Junior High had different names was because...wait for it...they were asked whether they wanted to keep their character names or get new ones and all the kids said that they wanted new character names, (which, in effect, meant they'd be new characters). According to an interview with Neil Hope and Amanda Cook, Hope said he played a character called Griff on the previous series and when they decided to do Junior High, they asked him and he said he wanted a new character/name and so did all the kids! Such a monumental change to the show's history and subsequent legacy and such a simple reason behind it. I think this was possible because Hope and the other kids were part of a repertory, rather than an established cast/crew hierarchy like other shows which featured child actors. That was really progressive! Here is the clip. Those kids do not sound old enough to even be on the phone 🤣. I guess they must have had their parents' permission.
  5. The first 10-11 months and the only women we really see working consistently are Beth, Margo and Kristen, although we occasionally see Donna overworked and tired from her job as a waitress. So far, Caroline was seen at the office, two, maybe three times. It will be refreshing when the show actually remembers that Brooke has career ambitions, other than riding Ridge. And Thorne wants to buy Caroline a "wedding trousseau"? Oh how 19th century! They act like Caroline doesn't already come from wealth and can't already get these things from her Daddy. It's good that there is a disclaimer in the description under these videos that some of the content in these classic episodes might contain outdated cultural depictions. No kidding.
  6. Oh wow, how could I have forgotten about this telefilm?! So-called "Sorkinese" is a style unique to him (surprise, most talented writers can say the same) but it's hardly a technique, nor so I think that it should ever be emulated (because why?). From the movies of his that I have seen, I do think the Social Network is his best one, he understands the mentality of a Zuckerberg, and perhaps, on some level, may identify with him, based on some of his interviews. I'm not castigating him because of his privilege, but I do think he should own up to the fact that he has it. Throwing others who are lower on the hierarchy than he is just so disingenuous. I still maintain that the PBS Documentary is the best work out there about Ball and Arnaz. It also had the benefit of including interviews by the writers of I Love Lucy, while they were still alive. It was so well done.
  7. Years ago, when the WTA head honchos seemed determined to become tie the financial fortunes of the Tour to China, I found that super worrying, given their human rights history. One or two tournaments was one thing but tying nearly the entire Asian swing to one country was always going to be dicey at best.
  8. Call me skeptical but this statement doesn't quite do it for me.
  9. This is probably for the best. There is so much children's programming now, it could probably merit its own ceremony. Also, it was always a bit weird when they'd show a clip of Erica Kane slapping someone in the opening montage, then follow it up with Big Bird waving or something. 😂. Television is now so fragmented and specialized that it is now beginning to look like having a smorgasbord of programming in one show where every category can get equal attention no longer seems feasible.
  10. How convenient that the miscalculation occurred just in time for elections earlier this month.
  11. Although, those calling Badosa "Sharapova-lite" are likely using the term as a pejorative, unlike here, where Bouchard is most likely using the comparison in a complimentary way.
  12. I'm not sure about Berrettini's prospects for a career with few injuries, in any case, it seems like the ATP WTF are his personal bugaboo. Despite reaching the RG final, Stefanos has not had a very good year, if we were to compare it to previous years. I don't know if it's the result of this prolonged pandemic but the past two seasons have produced some indifferent results for me.
  13. Some people refer to Badosa as Sharapova-lite, lol.
  14. This is cool. McKenna Grace with most of the original cast members of Ghostbusters discussing the new movie.
  15. Despite the headline, the article states that consumers are spending more than they have in over a year (which, of course carries its own problems with supply not commensurate with demand causing inflation). Walmart, Home Depot and the rest of their ilk are certainly fairing well, certainly better than they were under the last guy in the White House and yet these companies' CEOs are the first ones running to open their checkbooks to the Republican party. Talk about cognitive dissonance. The strong hold of everlasting greed.
  16. Kristen, Daddy issues aside, is probably the one of the few, if the only major character from the show's first year, who holds up fairly well in the 21st century. The others...not so much, lol. But we are constantly told by other characters that Kristen is "a problem" because she is not hoe-ing it up all over town and actually wants to... surprise...nurture a career!😵
  17. This is what I mean. I actually like the look of the dress from this vantage point. Instagram is so annoying, lol. Here's the photo. I "get" the dress from this angle.
  18. Brooke needed a psychiatrist from the start. Whew, this is 80s, alright... desperately thirsty women, with the exception of Kristen, who they make look as if she is either non-binary or completely asexual. Also, there are dropped storylines right from the beginning. What happened to that grand plan that Bill and Alex were supposedly cooking up to make Ridge pay dearly?🤔
  19. She and Serena both have taken turns missing the fashion mark. Her EleVen line rarely fails though. It's the best tennis kit line for women nowadays.
  20. It's clear now that Days is using the streaming platform for entertainment in its own right and not just as a one-off to drive traffic to the "main" network. The brand benefits either way. Smart.
  21. A lot needs to change, tbh. I read an article an article that mentioned an interview with George Clooney where he lambasted the lack of proper protocol on the set of the Rust movie. He said he never even hear the phrase "cold gun" in all his years of movie making and when working with firearms, the armorer always hands the gun to the actor, who then always examines the chamber and does test runs to ensure there are no live rounds fired before going further and no pointing the gun at upright (down at the ground then?) He said after the deaths of actors on set (including Brandon Lee, who was a friend of his), it's absurd that there would be such a lack of regard for safety on a set with weapons.
  22. Regardless of the actual execution, this is a wonderful idea. I'm happy for the Days fans. Hopefully it will live up to the expectations of the fans. There's a big banner headline, so honestly, this was the first thing I saw when I logged in a few minutes ago. I don't know what it looked like before. I'm not even a Days viewer, and even I saw this! 😂
