ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
The writing has been incredibly bad for years and years. There's no getting past that. Ms. Tunie is so booked and busy that I'm not even sure that I remember to list all these projects she's involved in.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Exactly! Daytime soaps, in particular, have been terrible at utilizing technology to leverage their brand and most fans make too many excuses for this. Even the shows that got cancelled 10-11 years ago were around long enough to have made use of YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. If Ashton Kutcher could think to get on Twitter in early 2009, what's the excuse of these sophisticated @ss corporations like Sony and Procter and Gamble taking so long to figure it out? I know P&G didn't give a sh*t about their soaps but still...have some pride and pretend you care, lol. And it's basically Eric Braden hopping on himself. These soaps are so haphazard about their engagement with viewers and potential viewers.

What a poignant and painful sentiment written so eloquently by her son.

Because no one truly makes it on their own, please remember the highly successful collaboration and partnership Sondheim had with Hal Prince who passed just a couple years ago. Here's an insightful article about their fruitful partnership. https://everythingsondheim.org/remembering-hal-prince/

RIP Lisa Brown
Thank you. This is what I wanted to know. Daytime Academy voting members don't seem to take to nuance and subtlety. It's why Kathryn Hays never got won or got a nomination. Soap voters favor the sturm und drang more than anything else. Beautifully stated. I am not sure many soap viewers appreciated this element. Like I stated before, often times about actors that employed a subtler style, which, dramatically, is more difficult to do. One of my acting instructors once said that anyone could get angry and explode on stage, anger was a far more accessible emotion and therefore easier to display than say, despair or indifference, anticipation, dread or ambivalence...those are very real emotions too. Of course, rarely did those snag Daytime Emmy awards. Just as you mentioned with certain scenes, I remember that break up scene because it had such dramatic range for both actors and Brown truly shined in all her nuanced skill-set. That full sequence probably hasn't been seen since it aired, I know I haven't seen that full sequence since it first aired in real-time but I remember it to this day.

The sad irony of Tick Tick Boom is that it was patterned after Jonathan Larson's one man show about his real life anxiety about not being able to make a career as a theater composer and running out of time (hence the title) It debuted on Broadway posthumously.

RIP Lisa Brown
It was Craig. It took place in the barn at the Snyder farm, the episode before she took the backbreaking fall. Craig was breaking up with her because he wanted to reunite with Sierra and Iva knows that this is what's happening and she knows he wants to let her down easy, so in the process although her heart is breaking, she tries to help smooth the way for him to end the relationship. No screaming and shouting, which is the usual Emmy bait but she did great work and it was memorable. I don't remember which scene she submitted for her Emmy reel for the '88 Daytime Emmy awards, do you remember? It was a shame that Ellie and Kirk ended it getting married because Iva and Kirk were a much more entertaining and dynamic fit. I thought each was the others' best pairing on the show but I don't know if one particular scene stood out for the Emmys, it was more about the banter they had and the obvious chemistry that Brown and Tom Wiggins had. It's just one of those quirks of the Daytime Emmys that Brown was never nominated for her work on Guiding Light despite how incredibly popular her character obviously was. My main point is that I don't think that her best work from ATWT is even on YouTube.

RIP Lisa Brown
Out of her three Daytime Emmy award nominations, Brown was nominated twice in the Best Supporting Actress category, both for As The World Turns and the episode that her '87 nomination reel came from is not even up on YouTube, which is a real shame. Most people continually mention the barn scene when citing her work (which was probably part of the reel for her '88 nomination) but there was more to the Iva Snyder character than just her relationship to Lily. The Tad Channing storyline (from 1986) as well as the realization that the man that she loves would always be in love with another woman (also in 1986-it was from one of these scenes that formed her Emmy reel for the '87 Emmy nomination) comprised some of her strongest performances on ATWT. It's tragic that those scenes are not out there to be viewed and enjoyed by the fans of the show and Brown. Some of us were fortunate to see these episodes in real time but if you haven't had the chance, sadly you have missed some if her best work on the series.

One of their Dutch ovens is on my wishlist. Honestly, I'd like to buy this for my mom when the price is right, but I am looking for a sizeable one which would be $300-400 and there are currently a few other things on the list that take priority right now. Someone made a joke that those in the right-wing always try to relegate women to only the kitchen but when a women actually expresses joy at doing something in an actual kitchen, it's still not right enough. Pfft.

RIP Lisa Brown
I'm actually really angry with P&G for not even bothering to put up even a measely ATWT official YouTube page where fans could have reached out to Brown and other actors, writers, etc. to give them the flowers they deserved while they are still around, instead of having to rely on mediocre livestream hosts who talk more about themselves than the talented cast and crew members.

Guaranteed, Le Creuset's sales are going to get a sizeable bump. My mom has some cookware from Le Creuset and it is an investment, yes, but one that, with proper care lasts generations. VP Harris, from all accounts, is a serious cook and many serious cooks own cookware from Le Creuset. Did these right-wing media outlets put the same energy into reporting on the dude who once occupied the WH that had gold toilets and and taxidermy on the walls of his homes? Same guy who went golfing damn near every weekend at tax payer expense?

Here I was, coming to ask about how many years Bob did his Thanksgiving toasts and this news hits. Shockingly sad news of Lisa Brown's passing. May she R.I.P. May her family and loved ones be comforted in their grief. We're losing these soap opera icons and it stings that P&G didn't even bother to set aside an official platform where fans could come together, look at high quality episodes and clips without worrying about them being taken down. How long would it take to put up an official PGP YouTube channel? We have unofficial social media for ATWT with less than 10K followers, a fraction of the actual fanbase. And what we're left with is mostly grainy clips, that, if we're fortunate, will include some of the actors' best work. We have to wait for next year's Daytime Emmy awards and hope that whomever produces the 'In Memoriam' segment will remember and use the proper photo. Our talented ATWT alums are not being celebrated as they should while they are here to receive their flowers and it just doesn't sit right with me.

OMG, this is so very sad and admittedly, a shock personally. Someone correctly made mention that we lost "Quint" and "Nola" in the same year.

Becker has 3 sons. Noah and Elias by his first wife Barbara Feltus and Amadeus (yup, that's his real name) by his second wife Lilly Sharlely Kerssenberg. And then there's the daughter Anna who people derisively refer to as the cupboard child.👀 Thanks for letting me know about Davis Cup, I can get on the app as well. From a few years ago but, 2nd wife is in the blue, first wife is in red and eldest son is next to her. Both are now exes, lol.

Ironically, given today's and recent news events in America, I am smack dab in the middle of reading the book Caste by Isabel Wilkerson which discusses such aspects as citizens' arrest and stand your ground as being outgrowth of slavery and Jim Crow laws, when slaveholders were allowed to apprehend, by force any Black man or women that they deemed runaways, even if the person they "caught" had free papers.

Oh no, Iva wasn't even on the canvas at that time. Russ was an antagonist to Steve and Betsy. I was only about eight or nine at that time but I was able to glean that from a piece of dialogue I heard during a re-watch of an episode from 1985. Russ was long gone by then.- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
This link is paywall-free. The former governor getting in the way of coordination between state and city health officials seems especially heinous, as well as slowing the accessibility of vital information that critically impacts people's health and lives. It's just worse than I even thought. - As The World Turns Discussion Thread
