  1. Knots should have ended in 1989. If you looked at ratings, they were still healthy up till then. Season 10 seemed like a wrap up...and I think season 11 was shaky because the writers had to figure out new obstacles, or start new stories. Dallas lost it's luster by 1987 and maybe had they opted to end the show in 1988..they could have convinced VP to stay on an extra season.
  2. Potomac: Ashley has 2 kids, probably has proof he's been a bad boy..so now she is set for life $$$
  3. Linda Evan's had a character she could sink her teeth into. A flawed character that had both positive and negative traits. The story I was most liking was the 2 designers finding their way back to one another. Mini series used to have fun b and c stories that interested me more than the A story.
  4. Except that wouldn't have fit KL...that would have fit on Dynasty or Falcon Crest. I actually think the Jill story in season 10 would have been stronger if we didn't know whether Jill tried to kill Val or not. Would have made the audience speculate because Val had issues with her mental health..and Jill didn't seem the type to want someone died because she felt threatened.
  5. I think the Waleska story would have worked if it had happened in season 9 right after Ben had 'disappeared' when she was at her most vulnerable since Gary was with Jill. And it would have spurred Gary to take action about having it documented he was the father of the twins because he didn't trust Danny nor did he trust Val's judgement. So once Danny is removed then the Jill story could have started. And I wouldn't have shown Jill trying to kill Val...I would have left it unclear for awhile...and then later shown in scenes that Jill did try to kill her.
  6. I actually liked Unhappily After...it made Married with Children seem conventional
  7. I actually thought the movie was better than people say. The relationship between Taryn and her mom was toxic...and showed some motivation for her mom's domineering ways. And the last scene was done well by Daryl Hannah. Acting ice cold, but when Lauri's back is turned...you see the sadness in her eyes. And I'm thinking Marc Singer's character had taken advantage of Taryn.
  8. The timing of the plot...it happened on the heels of the Jill Bennett story..and was viewed by most as a way to keep Gary and Val apart. Lastly it made Val look like an idiot.
  9. Punky Brewster had a good start at #40... considering it was in a tough timeslot.
  10. I did think the final season showcased Anne best with her being so insecure about being alone that she pretended to be pregnant and had the loveless marriage to Greg. And I recall a scene where she went to get plastic surgery and the dr stated she didn't need anything done..that she had low self esteem. I also liked Nick coming back..and he was with Claudia because Anne was with Greg.
  11. Paige as Mack's daughter was an interesting element for Dobson to play..and it was interesting seeing the subtle elements that went on between Paige and Karen. They weren't close, but Paige knew Karen made Mac happen while Karen knew Paige made Mac happy as well...plus both also tolerated Anne. The one thing I liked about Anne being on in the later seasons was that she had moved on from getting Mac back..but had developed a healthy co existing relationship with Mac and Karen. I often think had stronger writers been there in season 12 and 13..those elements would have been explored more.
  12. If they wanted to put someone famous on the announcement that came from AW...Anne Heche would have been the logical choice since she was doing fairly well in the mainstream at that point.
  13. I can see she was trying to mimic Brenda...but she lacked that delusional regal vibe that Brenda had as Jill.
  14. She was hardly in the tv movie.. more like a cameo.. so naturally it was Joan's twin sister
  15. Someone finally uploaded the Paper Dolls 1982 tv movie.
  16. I think Swajeski managed to make the Iris/Rachel duo more complex after Mac's death. Both were devastated by Mac's death and it bonded them in an odd way.
  17. I'd forgotten Dru and diane interacted. I think it was shortly after this that Diane was dropped.
  18. NJ: Tacky just like a Jersey girl. Margaret's is the best..imho BH: 8 is too many. Ericka and Dorit needed to be demoted to friend ofs. Neither bring anything interesting.
  19. Andy also thought Brandi was awesome so I side eye any glowing reviews he gives off
  20. I think Gary and Val took a long time to reunite because she and Ben were popular together. I remember my parents saying Val was too good for Gary..and that she had more in common with Ben. Both were writers, both jogged, both loved the ocean, and both had a quirky sense of whimsy. I actually liked him with Abby better.
  21. Nolaobics.. I'm sure was just a stop gap until Nola/Quint got another story...but Lisa Brown quit the show. I do think the scenes of Nola feeling wistful about leaving Springfield to go with Quint always interested me. On the one hand, she was leaving for a new adventure outside Springfield...but it was just as she was finally being happy in Springfield and trying a new venture. It was a sign that reality sometimes doesn't match the fantasy. From what I recall, Long said that she had to write off the Reardon's because the performers left the show when their contract ended. I think Kobe was the big issue at that point...imho
  22. She is in control most of the time. She did explain a bit the reasoning behind why the show made David have amnesia, plus said she was close to the actress who played Ariel (even mentioning where she was living now).
  23. Would the show have been better off doing what Paper Dolls did when that show went to series....which was retell the story from the start? That way, the new performers could make the characters their own. Jennifer O'Neil was an interesting choice for the Linda Evans character. Totally different vibes.
  24. Wow...lesson to quit while ahead in regards to surgery. I actually thought she was cute with her orginal nose..and her odd fashion choices. Money does sap you of your individuality
  25. I would have thought killing David off in 1991 would have opened the character of Ellen up to new story...but alas not to be. I do remember Ellen had an issue with the in vitro story...and she expressed it clearly to Emily, Susan, and Larry. Even Susan remarking how horrible she was as a mother in law and wasn't going to stand for her interfering. I think the last time she was on was Thanksgiving 1998...I'm not sure if that was when Lorraine Broderick was writing..or if Leah Laiman was writing by then.
