  1. I didn't even remember a temp Vanessa recast. Probably for the best as I was still sour over the Billy recast... This story and Julie plotting to steal Frank had me hooked around this point - once they ended I began drifting again which is why I only just have half-memories of what happens through late '94 up to summer '95. Everything about the custody battle was riveting and involved such rich character dynamics. Probably the only custody battle I felt invested in on a soap. If you get to the episodes where Vanessa has flashbacks of herself when she was pregnant with Dinah, I'd be interested to see that again, as I'm not entirely sure how much was real and how much I've made up in my head.
  2. Or Women of the House when Valerie Mahaffey and Julie Hagerty switched in and out. Maybe they can take over as Jennifer.
  3. Soaps and reality TV are both places where you find many more Republicans than you ever want to hear from, but I notice the more out of work former soap actors get the more extreme they become. I suppose they have nothing to lose. Me too. It serves any number of purposes for Trump. - gets any positive Harris news out of the headlines - makes him look like a victim - stirs up more talking points about how other countries are terrified of him and want Democrats to win (and this has long been a talking point with Trump about Iran) - the media will take his word as gospel, all while not even printing any of the details To be honest, I also have my doubts about the "bitch" story. Not that he says it - he has likely said much worse - but because the framing also benefits Trump. The people who are disgusted are already not voting for him. It riles up the supporters who crave the red meat, it riles up the people who claim to dislike him but praise him as a martyr and chide the media for spreading gossip (even as they spread any lies and gossip about Harris or Walz with glee), and it allows the media to run the type of pieces they love to run about female Democrats - finding anybody off the record to talk about how she threw a shoe at them. And if Kamala Harris does speak up about the story, or if any Democrat does, they will be jumped all over as too soft and all the rest.
  4. I've been a fan of any number of actors who turned out to be terrible people, and - not to be hyperbolic - sometimes it really hurts. I am so relieved I never cared for Martha Byrne. "The GOP saved my family." As a whole? As a collective? If I said last night a DJ saved my life, will I be able to get hundreds of likes on Twitter too?
  5. I wonder if they tried to contact Suzanne Davidson. The Betsy they cast was perfectly fine but really was just there - extremely generic. They may have been better off not having her return. I wonder why they did not try Sallows again when Betsy briefly returned in 1994. I can't even remember that Betsy - I don't think I have ever watched most of that material. Another character who was painted as a deadbeat/bad mother by ATWT in later years due to lazy writing.
  6. That's probably a small part so I could see her coming back someday, but not for Lulu.
  7. From one of the commenters that date may be wrong - might be the 23rd. A shorter version is available on Youtube but this one has the commercials.
  8. Thanks @SoapDope. Nice to see how they did flashbacks at the time, and the bittersweet moment with Miranda and Carol. As is often the case with Carol material I feel like there's more of a sincerity and depth and less of the malaise of many other parts of the canvas.
  9. Thanks. That helps explain why the NYT has been trying to find new attack lines.
  10. Parker is one of those bitter has beens we are meant to support just because she still works at a dying paper. NYT pushing propaganda and doing cleanup work for yet another day.
  11. Thanks. The story about the actress on CPW who wouldn't die is amusing. Not sure if Relativity counts as a primtime soap but it doesn't seem to get a lot of attention and the pilot, possibly more, is being put on Youtube.
  12. You're right. You can see how nothing she would have said mattered based on the interview with the two hecklers: https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/08/kamala-harris-hecklers-protest-detroit-rally-interview-gaza-michigan/ I do appreciate her trying to say something beyond "do you want Trump to win," because even though that's the truth, it plays right into the hands of these narcissists. But ultimately they are impossible to reach, so the best to hope for is winning without them.
  13. Thanks. I'll let them know.
  14. The other has a lot of Sierra/Craig and Montega material too, although I know that had also been up. It would be nice if all of 1985 is available eventually.
  15. Thanks. The same episode is up elsewhere with a different date (December 29th). I'm not sure which date is accurate.
  16. Thanks as always for your hard work @slick jones
  17. She does, yes. I remember a 1986 or 1987 episode with an amusing moment where they cut to her standing on the stage at the Mona Lisa in full evening wear immediately after she has finished singing offcamera. I imagine the fans who were tired of hearing Lyla warbling were pleased for the break. I'd forgotten until looking on IMDB that she also played the very tiresome Hannah Lafferty. I wonder what they would have done if Lyla had needed a temp recast around then.
  18. To me Philip often had much more of an edge than Rick. I do think Rick suffered from being in Philip's shadow, and it seemed like they had no real idea what to do with the character for most of MOL's first run after they split him from Mindy (which seemed to be a popular pairing - I'm not sure why they went with Kurt instead, unless it was down to Kurt being hunkier). I can definitely see where a viewer of the period would have found the material disgusting. I think ATWT even had Dani calling Craig "Daddy," which means they weren't unaware (as GL may have been, just as I doubt OLTL's '96 writers knew Cassie used to babysit for Kevin), they just wanted people to get off on the perversion.
  19. The quality isn't the best, but I couldn't find another version of this (may have missed it, sorry if so).
  20. I stumbled on this interview from 2009 where a John Maczko says he appeared on ATWT (his character "kidnapped a kid"). His CV has him as "Masons man." Not sure if that means Derek or Niles Mason. MACZKO.com - John Maczko - Resumé A photo of how he looked around those days, presumably.
  21. Another PSA that was new to me or I had forgotten.
