  1. @Contessa Donatella Sorry to hear about your channel. Youtube seems to use these methods to junk what doesn't make them enough profit, while 5000000000 "Disney went woke and got broke" videos remain. I think someone (maybe it was you, I don't know) said the show later fixed this mistake and established that the Frames did not grow up on that farm.
  2. Thanks. I'm glad Danny is still doing OK.
  3. I think when Fletcher returned at the end of the show they mentioned Meg being in a school, but I'm not sure.
  4. I suppose it worked briefly in the ratings with Kate Oates, but it did real damage to Corrie (already damaged enough as it was).
  5. Thanks. Never seen that. I think CBS used to have those (maybe the last network who did). Danny Thomas back in the '60s had a number of burnoff pilots. One used to be on Youtube, uploaded by the actress who was in the title role (her brothers are obsessed with marrying her off - you think it's going to end with her actually falling for the guy they want her to marry but then they decide they hate him because he's not from their village and they kick him out - very sour ending for a comedy).
  6. I think Rick dated her. And did Frank date Dana - I don't know, I have not watched a lot of that story. You have great ideas about what they should have done with Nola. I wonder how much was hurt by how depressed Lisa seemed as Nola the second time around - she was much closer to Iva. At least in her final brief return she had a little more of the old spirit.
  7. My main memory of Eastwick is one of the women (maybe Price) using her powers to get a gay man to want her. Rather than trying to make it something wicked or hot, the show was more honest about it in that his boyfriend found them and was disgusted, and then the gay guy, with the spell now worn off, was confused and horrified. (if this had been done on daytime I imagine certain soap columnists would have called it hilarious and brave)
  8. Maybe she was a big fan of Mad Max.
  9. It took a while for Sherry to settle into the role, so I could see Elizabeth clicking if she had had the chance. I think one of the issues might be the romantic choices for the character (Grant Aleksander was such a severe presence, and I can't even imagine her with Carl Tye Evans...). I've always liked Alexandra Neill (due to her work on ATWT), but Rose just seems like a bit of a nothing character just there to give Rusty a story and be abused and die. Nicolette Goulet was stuck with such a poor part - the "strong female doctor" cliche soon reduced to the worst role you can give a female character (being passed between two men). The mid/late '80s feel so scattershot, especially with new characters, which just makes the show pulling itself together again for a few years all the more remarkable.
  10. I liked his relationship with Harley, which worked much better than it should have, but I didn't miss him either. I wouldn't have brought him back, although Robert Newman had his moments, especially in later years.
  11. Brophy's last decade had an interesting tale, which also features a soap alum (Peter Barton). A man they never met left them about 500K each. https://www.sj-r.com/story/entertainment/local/2013/02/13/actor-hopes-logan-county-man/41734321007/
  12. There's an SOD article about headwriters' strike frustrations and IIRC Pam Long has things to say about how unhappy she was with how the Blake storyline was handled in her absence.
  13. I think they needed what Alex should have been, but sadly even with the divine Beverlee there I don't think the Alex of the end of her run was needed, let alone how she was written under Marj. I did enjoy McTavish's Alex and her banter with Hawk, mostly because I thought that material suited Marj. I liked Fletcher more than most here, but that was down to just finding him a likeable support character and everyday figure. Other than Alex I was never invested in his pairings. I don't think Fletcher/Holly was a terrible idea, especially with their media jobs, but giving them a child was a very bad idea and just an example of trying to fit an issue story onto characters. If they were going to tell that story then it might have made more sense to me with Nadine (Jean Carol would have stayed if she had been given story, IIRC), or even Nola. Nola would have loved that child, but I could see Quint struggling, possibly wanting her to have an abortion (especially after learning the baby would have Down's) and that being a more believable cause for their split than an affair.
  14. Even now the media is trying to hype him as an example of why Virginia may go for Trump this year. They will never let him go.
  15. That's one of the reasons why that hatemonger Charlie Kirk is pushing so hard for the cultists to get low-information voters/people who rarely vote to go for Trump - to offset the loyal voters who are sickened by him. And of course the media is full speed ahead, including his cynical attempts at getting black voters (mainly through finding criminals who say he is just like them, so vote for him). Or doing "fun" videos with repulsive Logan Paul that are pushed in the same breath as badly doctored Biden videos so the media can tell us Trump is the life of the party and Biden is decrepit.
  16. I was trying to remember if Guza was headwriter then - if it was 2010 then I guess he must have been. Talking about those years is much easier than trying to watch them was...
  17. She's also one of those R&B artists who for a while was very popular in the Philippines. When she passed yesterday a beautiful duet she had in a film was put on Twitter. I had no idea he was Chita's ex-husband.
  18. Thanks. I forgot about the attempt to get rid of her a decade ago. No wonder some worry she's in that place again (at least she had some strong scenes this past week). Hot tub fun time Sam was probably the peak of her character. I had forgotten Wolf did the rape or not rape story (did Guza have Michael raped or was that not him either?).
  19. I don't know if it was Frons or Guza who tried to railroad Becky Herbst off the show at that time (until fan backlash got in the way). Looking back it's hard to even remember the show investing that much in Sam and Jason to the point of killing Jake because I never felt like they had a great deal of interest in Sam herself. This was when they had her honeymoon involve being raped. I guess it was all about which slampiece Guza wanted for his avatar Jason, not about Sam herself.
  20. If it is a stunt, it makes Bravo and the producers look desperate and terrible, given some of the lawsuits against them.
  21. To me Greg was the only good Lucky since JJ's first run, and I don't think JJ's first run was all that fantastic anyway. He brought a lot of heart to a degrading role. I doubt they will ever bring him back though. Must be nice for Eva to just be cast with no muss or fuss. Not that this trash part would work even if a better actor was in the part. Beyond miscarriages and stillbirths, was Jake the only child character Guza killed off? I always took that as being about Guza wanting to give Jason angst and give Geary and JJ a chance to mug, rather than just wanting to kill off a kid.
  22. That's an interesting concept. The writing for women often seems so black and white for me in what I've seen of Marland's run, with a few exceptions.
  23. If that version of Vanessa had stayed, I think she probably wouldn't have lasted very long - I could see her being killed off similar to Diane.
