ALL: Bad Moves by Well Regarded Soap Writers/EPs
It was a completely made up parody, the scene never happened, but the way he wrote it, and me being a teenager at the time, I believed it was the real thing until the article got rambunctious near its end. I've never forgotten it. I miss that column all the time and wonder where that guy is these days.

Can't say I haven't been pleased with all the whoring out of RSW lately, especially today. That shirt Brady has been wearing is very unflattering for Eric Martsolf, unfortunately. And I hate to be a bitch, but I really can't stand Linsey Godfrey as an actress. I don't know what the word is, but she just seems like the most obnoxious white woman ever. Plus, the horrible poodle hair and weird eyebrows. When it comes to Philip being written as joke, I do like him being a sarcastic ass, but JPL is definitely part of the problem. Those bizarre reactions are all him. Same with the amount of strange noises Jackée Harry makes with every line. Bring on next week! I pray it's going to be well done.

Ben was before my OLTL watching time, so whenever I read about him I instantly think of that comedic article from the SnarkWeighsIn column where he explained why Ben and Viki were chosen, out of all the couples on the show at that time, to have a scene where she orally pleases him. Makes me laugh every time.

ALL: GREAT Moves by Bad/Tragic Soap Writers/EPs
During Higley's first run, was it her tenure where Tony pushed Sami through the DiMera french doors losing her voice to the glee of millions?

Brash and Cwikly's only real stumble was how they introduced Rex and Cassie, but I loved both actors and though Eric Winter would have still left regardless, Alexis Thorpe could have been a great mainstay. It was absolutely Dena Higley that then ret-conned them as Roman and Kate's children. JER would have had a ball with Cassie, but felt she had to go because the retcon closed up any chance of any real future pairing.

Have Karl or Susan ever had a child pass away? I think Holly would be a great choice for that.

I hate it altogether and wish it never happened under any circumstance.

If I was RC and was deluded enough to think Leo and (anyone) Javi would be a good couple, why would you not take the actual steps to get there, to build up a yearning, a wanting, a need for the couple to unite on what is supposed to be a SOAP OPERA. The first mistake was trying to make us believe Javi would be attracted to Leo at first sight. A herculean task. If anything, Leo would only be a discreet hook-up Javi would have to meet his needs, then when Leo won't leave well enough alone, Javi tries to let him down gently, but Leo being Leo, he becomes pushy, forcing Javi to reject him harshly. From there you would find reasons for Javi to grow fond of him, form a friendship, and THEN Javi would learn all about Leo's horrible past and want nothing to do with him. Of course, if it were actually me, Leo's exit would happen on day dot, but you see what I'm getting at.

I don't know if she invented it, but Irna choosing to SORAS her characters, which gave the greenlight for others to do the same. Could you imagine a world where Bill never SORAS'ed Mike, and he learned about his true paternity in 1986? Plus, the practice was one of the first where soaps let go of their sense of realism, and its been an extremely slippery slope ever since.

I managed to finish off October and November 1. Madelyn Kientz is easily the best of the young lot. Leo Howard is beautiful, but I wonder if we could have another religious nut on our hands because of the scene where the morning after the night before with Sophia, the comforter was covering his body, then he got out of bed with sweatpants and couldn't put a shirt on fast enough. Brady and Ava reeks of, "Yeah, I guess that'll do." I finished the Hallowe'en episode in record time. Skipped right through all of Leo's cringe ass dream. JPL still has a great body. If they only had an Ed Scott on set to diminish his Stafford-isms, I'd love him, honestly. Loved those Chad and Julie scenes. And can't wait to watch Kate reunited with Vivian.

DAYS: November 2024 Discussion Thread
Sorry for upcoming October discussion, but that thread was archived and I just learned today my Roku has DAYS on it so a few thoughts; FF'ing through the rest, it felt apropos for me to start with JJ's return episodes and the Cat reveal. When it came to Billy confronting Cat in the scenes where they're alone, I thought Billy Flynn's performance was quite strong and felt emotionally connected to his heartbreak. My first time seeing Cat and Mark, and both actors seemed like pleasant enough presences that I wouldn't mind sticking around. I also watched the Joy and Nancy return scenes since that story just started. AlexAnn Hopkins seems like she could be a good casting, too, but the way she just randomly started to yap her problems to Johnny was obnoxious. As was the haphazard way they brought up her being a My Sister's Keeper reject. Having to endure Bonnie even through the little amount I did, was torture. Even ff'ing through the B&S crap seems like a chore. Then I watched Philip's return scenes as well. I liked Philip being a smart ass, but JPL took his schtick and dialed it up to 100. If he just chose to play things like a human being, Philip could be one of my favourites. Judging by people's views of his last stint, JKJ seems to have left acting behind, too, so a recast seems necessary if Philip is ever going to be a serious regular again, which I think could be quite successful if they just cast a proper actor in the role. Finally, I watched the complete Oct. 28 episode which had the exits of Eric, Stefan, and Fiona, the start of Vivian's return, and Javi's debut. Also, the first time seeing the new Gabi, who already seems a better actress than what I remember from Camila Banus, but maybe I was just in a good mooe. Always a pleasure to see (the real) Vivian. It'll be so hard liking Javi knowing he's being wasted on an albatross. Still, I can't wait to binge watch to catch up on the rest on Sunday. However, I wish the writing wasn't so damn generic and I wish the scenes weren't so short. And there's so much dialogue in every episode where a character just repeats what was just said as a question or just utters a simple 'what?' It's incredibly derivative. Let's hope the new writers will be stronger in the day to day.

Happy for NAC to get a non-Ryan Murphy project.
