Bright Eyes

I saw on Ben Barrington's instagram that he has left the show and it made me feel nostalgic. Other than Chris and a recently returned Rachel, there's almost no one left from when I enjoyed watching the show for a few years starting in 2012. There is Esther, but I was never a huge fan, and I have to imagine with the way long-timers have been written out pretty consistently year after year, that her time is coming sooner than later. It's sad to think my era is truly over, but I'll always cherish that little chunk of time I had with the show that feels so special to me. Here's a toast to all my favourites: Chris, Rachel, Beth!, TK, Nicole, Vinnie, Daniel, Kylie, the triplets!, Drew, Harper, Garett, Curtis, Ali, Lucy, Cam, Vasa, Ula, and Dallas. I always had a soft spot for Phoenix too and was disheartened to learn they had killed him off. I struggled immensely with Sarah as she felt like the biggest Mary Sue, but my jaw was on the floor with her death. I have never been so shocked in my entire soap watching life, and it shocked me even more by how devastating her death was. That whole virus storyline was fantastic. Pixie's death was heartbreaking as well. Josh Gallagher's hero syndrome is one of my all time favourite soap opera storylines that I was lucky enough to watch in real time. And hey, whether you're a fan or not, I'll always think it's pretty cool that this show introduced me and the world to KJ Apa. Everytime I see him I have to smile because it's an instant little reminder of the great memories I have watching this show. Shout out to the scene where Kylie took Nicole with her to see her doctor when she feared she was sick, but it turned out she had chlamydia. The look on Nicole's face was hysterical and priceless. I've never forgotten it. Sally Martin was always outstanding at a reaction shot. And another honourable mention to when Rachel told Sarah she couldn't run a corner shop let alone a hospital. Rachel was in distress at the time, but I was cheering her on with every word.

She's the right age for a Theresa recast, but with Tate leaving I don't think that's plausible. For some reason, I'm thinking brand new character. Maybe connected to Liam if he's still around then?

DAYS already has the blandest, most generic actress in Abigail Klein, and now her runner-up in being a complete bore with no charisma whatsoever is joining alongside her. But good news, if you're struggling to purchase your valium dosage, you can now feel safe in throwing those pills away and just watch DAYS in 2027!

There was that brief period that Gering was taken off contract for about three months in 2020. Rafe has basically been supporting since the latest Arnold Feniger debacle anyway, so I don't think too much will change regarding his use. DAYS has got to lock down these people! Marissa Reyes, Madelyn Kientz, Jamie Martin Mann (am I forgetting anyone?) all leaving within six months is ridiculous. There was also the OG Chanel, but I think Raven Bowens is much stronger in the role.

Matt Ashford and Deb Adair were on the show together for about 8 months, and had story together pretty quickly after her debut because he had found her manuscript. Her attraction to him is canon! The manuscript history was mentioned a couple times in recent years. One of the few things I'll give RC's DAYS kudos for is finally making Jack a real character again.

I've had a long simmering thought that Sandy Horton left town pregnant with Tony child. I always fancast Jason Tam in the role.

It would be greatly poetic if this continuation could at some point rectify Lisa Bonet/Denise's place in the history of the show.

DAYS: Bill Bell was going to have Bill Horton raped in prison. What the hell was the original plan for Jordan Ridgeway? I'm actually surprised Chrishelle Stause hasn't yet to spill the beans on that one. Also, during Cwikly's first tenure, they alluded to there being some connection between Celeste and Caprice the nanny. And originally, Austin was brought on for Jennifer, and Kate was attracted to Jack.

I have to assume that Sophia's exit is imminent based on the two couples' exits coming up and it just hasn't been announced yet for some reason. Her staying on would make absolutely no sense from a storyline perspective, but also because Rachel Boyd is the worst actor on the show.

This is a really random question, but un-SORAS'ed, who is the youngest character from the show? On OLTL it would be Matthew and Destiny's son Drew, who Destiny gave birth to in the ABC finale, so I've been curious how old would the youngest AMC character technically be.

I think he lost whatever talent he had long ago, but ripping off film plots is definitely not a bad thing. All the great soap writers did it all the time. Of course, when they did it, the result was usually more palatable. However, those first couple OLTL years were a breath of fresh air for the most part. The rest of his work, I plead the fifth.

Forgive me if this was posted closer to when the article originally came out, but I randomly found an update about Matthew Twining (River Carpenter, OLTL). From late 2024, basically he owns a bar now, but still does local theatre and says he's still friends with Melissa Fumero. Matthew Twining Update

I was never able to forgive Xander for the way he treated my favourite character, Anya, but losing a part of the scooby gang hurts regardless. It's a shame he had the issues he did, especially because it seemed like his career was going well initially after Buffy ended. He was a gorgeous man in the earlier years. For some reason, I had it in my mind that Joss basically ordered him to stop working out in the later seasons. Seeing the contrast from early to late Xander is striking. It is a small comfort that he passed peacefully in his sleep and still had a creative output in his last years. Rest in Peace, Nicholas Brendon, you'll always be a part of my happy adolescent memories.

Other than Leo crap, this sounds like a pretty good week.

It's a shame that this build-up of Arianna and Liam is all for nought since we know the recast is coming and they'll immediately be at square one again.
