Expect all soaps except OLTL to drop this week just b/c of the very high week all the soaps had. Some of the soaps are capable of stabilizing the same numbers from last week.

AMC is getting some buzz from Bianca's lesbian relationship with Reese so in the long run its going to help build their numbers a little bit, but the show needs a new camera big time. Please put this [!@#$%^&*] in HD!

GH has been red hot, but not sure how long the stunt will work. Should be interesting to see if it can stay around that 2.2 and 2.3 mark.

GL's rating will be very hard to predict and the show is getting red hot too with popular characters coming back. A 1.8 is near!

Y&R and DAYS had superb weeks and they could manage around their high ratings still.

Should be interesting this week!

I find GH's current storyline insufferable.

I figure Y&R will have a slight decline to 3.9.

I think OLTL will drop .1

Days and AMC are the only middle rated soaps that are showing any signs of "anything's possible" growth. I think ATWT's huge jump was a fluke.

I don't watch AMC but everyone I know who DVR's soaps is DVR ing AMC and AMC only.

I think Pratt is going to write a soap that alot of people want to watch.

AMC is getting press for their "groundbreaking" lesbian wedding, so that may bring an increase.

I don't know what to predict. I know someone who has decided to start watching GL again for the first time in about 20 years, but that may not translate to more than one person.

I would guess a drop for everything but DAYS and maybe OLTL and AMC. I just hope GL can stay the same or have a slight increase.

I wonder if GL could even get up to a 1.7 and maintain it, if the show would be given a 1 year extension or something...

I know the number is supposedly 1.8, but in today's climate, even a 1.7 would be OK, I would hope, since GL's production model makes money.

I don't even know if they'll get 1.6 this week so I guess it's moot.

Due to the heavy winds, thousands of people do not have electricity here on the east coast. I'm pretty sure it will be like this for them tomorrow too. Soaps will take a huge hit when ratings come out next week.

From TV by the Numbers website, here's what I gathered for information for the week of Feb. 2-6, 2009 until the official report rolls out:

Daytime Rank: Total Viewers Women 18-49 (Rtg/000s)
No. 1 CBS 3.76 million (-220,000) No. 1 NBC 1.4/927,000 (unchanged/-16,000)
No. 2 ABC 3.08 million (-170,000) No. 1 ABC 1.4/918,000 (unchanged/-20,000)
No. 3 NBC 2.98 million (-70,000) No. 3 CBS 1.2/820,000 (-.1/-20,000)

Top 6 Daytime Soaps in Women 18-49 (rank based on rating)

Program Net Rtg/000s
The Young & the Restless CBS 1.8/1.20 million (-.1/-30,000)
General Hospital ABC 1.6/1.03 million (unchanged/+30,000)
Days of Our Lives NBC 1.4/927,000 (unchanged/-16,000)
The Bold and the Beautiful CBS 1.2/827,000 (-.1/-28,000)
All My Children ABC 1.2/788,000 (-.1/-67,000)
One Life to Live ABC 1.2/779,000 (-.1/-32,000)

Source: NTI, Live + Same Day: Week of 2/2/09. All ranks based on rating unless otherwise noted All percent changes based on 000s).

No figures for CBS's ATWT or GL. My estimation at this point for both P&G soaps that viewers and 18-49 must've remained flat or posted a small increase.

You must mean that GH is red hot as in on fire from the dumbest stunt since the beginning of time. This stunt doesn't work, it is crap.

I find GH's current storyline insufferable.
I don't want to be negative because I decided that I want soaps to live so its of no consequence
if they are good or bad. But the newborn baby in the tree in the snow was not necessary for me to see
that was a slam dunk; I had to turn it off..its something very disturbing about that....it had to
be another way to get that point across... its pretty much leaving me speechless
I haven't seen today' eppy yet its a lot of stuff going on though biotoxin, fire, PPD,
...

I think GH will drop not sure how much But willl make their coveted "demo groups"
that's all they really seem to care about imo telling a good story is secondary. (for the "most" part)

I figure Y&R will have a slight decline to 3.9. ITA
I think OLTL will drop .1

I think Pratt is going to write a soap that alot of people want to watch.
I like so many characters of AMC esp the historic friendships
of Tad/Ange/Jesse/ (Crystal) and I respect any writer / show /producer whomever
those responsible who brings some semblance of diversity to daytime and not just having African Americans in step n' fetch it storylines but
top tier characters (leads) in A storylines under the sweeps umbrella. As an African American who grew up watching soaps
this is important to me. So I'll watch it just for that looking at a whole family ...at least they are trying, putting forth
an effort (re: ABC soaps).

You have more faith in Pratt than just about anyone I'd say. So far he's writing a soap that most people DON'T want to watch

I don't think the show will get much of a bump for the Reeks wedding either

Hi Zendall-

I don't even watch AMC- I can't take the "look" of it. Its never been my show. I watched in 1991 or 92 during Janet in the well.

Based on the people that I know who still watch soaps, they are all females DVR'ing AMC.

I figure that Pratt (What is he from Melrose Place?) knows how to write a soap that the masses may like. And AMC's slight but so far sustained resurgence in the ratings appears to show that)

Who knows.

I hate my shows right now. I am almost tempted to try out GL just to see what it is all about.

I may. It is on at 10:00 am here in Boston.

I generally can't deal with crapy camerawork and bad production values though. lollll

But the commercials didn't look that bad.

And I AM A Nielsen household after all.

Just kidding.

I don't think the show will get much of a bump for the Reeks wedding either
With all the press Reeks is getting from GLAAD the ratings might get a big bump.

All the stories on AMC sucks right now. I keep trying to FF when I'm watching live. My co-worker switched the channel to B&B today. Someone usually say turn it back to AMC, but no one said a word today. I just didn't care.

After the large increase because of the storm previously I expect most shows to fall. Not because of story content but because people had to go back to work. LOL
