ATWT: Dream Vets Storyline

Lately, with the passing of Ben H, there's been alot of talk about ATWT neglecting their veteran actors. What are some storylines YOU would pen if you were in charge of creating stories for ATWT's veterans?

Lisa

Pretty much the same thing that has happened in my ATWT fan fiction. Young girl/guy comes to town. Turns out to be Scott's son/daughter. Lisa's skeptical at first but eventually welcomes her grandchild with open arms.

Bob/Kim/Susan

I would definitely love to see this triangle re-emerge. Maybe this time witha twist. Kim is unfaithful, Susan gives Bob comfort, Kim truns to drinking because she thinks Susan/Bob are having another affair. Susan takes the bottle away from Kim. The two become friends.

Tom/Margo

I have a sotry idea planned for my fan ficiton so I can't really say anything. Just that maybe in the courtroom, they could butt heads...leading to marital problems.

Nancy

I can see some young person coming along, befriending her, then taking her for all she's worth. Little do they know that Nancy has the upper hand, knew all along, and has them tailed by the cops. Later, the oyung person finally (and truly) befriends Nancy and once they have their roots planted in Oakdale, they continuously turn to her for guidance.

At this point, I'd love any storyline they were in. 10 years ago I was complaining b/c the show put them in the most ridiculous storylines ever, but now I'd pay to see them in those same exact storylines just so I could watch them.

It's true that some of them might not want their own storyline (like, I doubt Helen Wagner is asking to be in 20 episodes a month), but I know for a fact that most of them do and that the show just doesn't care. :( I think, at this point, it's a lost cause. Aside from the Dr. Death storyline and a few minor involvements, they haven't had a big storyline in several years.

Do you guys really think that the powers that be at ATWT are thinking more about this now since Ben died? Or do you think it's even phased them?

Og boy, I must have a mild form of dyslexia because I thought the title of this thread was "Wet Dreams Storyline" and then I thought "Now that's a story I wanna watch!".

Carry on.

Have we ever seen Lisa in an extremely vulnerable situation? I'd like to do something similar to the "All in the Family" episode where Edith is raped. Have Lisa befriend a nice younger gentleman, in a nice platonic way. And one night, after they have painted the town red together (again, platonically), he would force himself on her and the storyline would come from the aftermath of it: Lisa dealing with it, Tom and Bob trying their damnedest to bring the guy to justice, etc.

Several years back there was a story with Nancy after Mac died. She befriended a woman whose husband had also died. I can't remember the woman's name but she started taking dance lessons at a dance studio. She talked Nancy in to taking them. Two much younger men ran the studio and they would take the woman and a hesitant Nancy out to eat. Clearly they were scam artists after two rich widows. A change of writers happened and that storyline was dropped and the men and the woman were never heard of again.

I would have liked to to have seen that continue. I think it might have been Stephen Black/Henry Stern or possibly Jessica Kln writing that one. Does anybody else remember that story?

LOL! What's on your mind?:blink::D

Anyway, since this is a dream and not reality, here's what I'd do:

Kim/Bob/Lucinda

--First off, I'd shake up the both of the Hughes marriages. With Kim and Bob, I'd break them up by having Bob fall for Lucinda during one of their hospital board meetings. Kim is so betrayed that she turns to her ex-husband/rapist John Dixon, who happens to return to Oakdale after a mysterious exit. Everyone in Oakdale is shocked that Kim and Bob have split up and Bob is now having a tawdry affair w/ Lucinda while Kim is back w/ John. So Nancy and the rest of the Hughes clan conspire to get Oakdale's beloved couple back together.

For several months they try to get the couple to reconcile but w/ no avail. However, Nancy soon comes up w/ a plan, and w/ the help of the Hughes children and grandchildren, they book Bob and Kim on the same cruise. After the ship capsizes on a desert island, Bob has to rescue Kim from a treacherous peril, and the two wind up back in love.

Once they're in Oakdale, they get remarried. Lucinda and John, both heartbroken over the dismises of their own relationships, decide to conspire together to wreak havoc in Oakdale.

Tom/Margo/Susan

--Meanwhile, the stress from his father and step-mother's split causes Tom Hughes to become very distant from his wife. Margo also has been spending a lot of time at the OPD trying to solve a case, which is not helping matters at all. There, she works w/ Jack, and the two start forming a passionate affair. It's really hot too...they do it everywhere. ;)

Tom is so upset over Margo's betrayal that he files for divorce and starts hitting the bottle. It gets so bad that he gets arrested for a DUI and loses his job as the DA. When another drunken binge winds up in Tom getting sent to the hospital, he finds solace in reformed alcoholic Dr. Susan Stewart. The two form a friendship as Susan encourages Tom to go to AA, and she becomes his sponser. Their friendship soon turns into a romance. Though they both do find it kind of disgusting that Susan once had an affair w/ Tom's dad, and that Tom has a baby w/ Susan's daughter, it doesn't seem to stop neither one of them.

Barbara

--After the death of her beloved daughter, Barbara decides to return to BRO. W/ the help of Paul, as her business partner, she designs a spring line that is absolutely amazing. People herald it the comeback story of the century, and she is a success once again, her clothes all on the pages of Vogue and Elle and the other high-end fashion magazines.

Still, after finding out that her beloved ex-husband, Hal, has passed away, Barbara feels extremely vunerable. And the timing couldn't be any worse b/c it happens that James Stenbeck has been released from prison. Despite her intitial protestations, the two soon find themselves in a relationship and re-marry for the third time. When Paul finds out about his parents' nuptuals, he goes crazy and is sent to a mental institution. Everyone in Oakdale soon starts to panic that the Stenbecks are going to start causing trouble again. However, when John and Lucinda find out about it, they figure that there can only be one bad couple in Oakdale, so they decide to break up the marriage the only way they know how: by having Lucinda seduce James and John seduce Barbara. During the whole process, though, John and Lucinda find out that they really do love one another and decide to take the plunge for the third time themselves.

Lisa

--Lisa hooks up w/ a new man in town who wines and dines her and makes her feel like a teenager again. He encourages her to break into a music career, and w/ his help, she becomes a cabaret star. However, it turns out that her beau is really a con artist, and once he marries her, he's going to take all of her money and flee the country. Lisa is totally oblivious to all of this b/c she is so happily in love until one night a bunch of gangsters kidnap her, in revenge for her boyfriend stiffing them out of money. After hearing that his mother has been kidnapped, Tom goes out to try to save her. He finds Lisa and saves her before the kidnappers could hurt her. Then, with the help of his estranged wife, Margo, Tom nails Lisa's ex and sends him to a life in prison. After working on the case together, Margo and Tom soon realize that they still love each other and reconcile. At this time, Jack has decided to return to a life w/ Carly. Soon after Bob and Kim re-marry, so do the younger Hughes. And everyone is happy, especially Nancy. :)

Emma

--Emma has always been the heart and soul of the Synder clan, but after losing the family farm, she becomes severely depressed. While living w/ Holden and Lily, she finds comfort when she begins writing romance novels again. One day Lily picks up one of her mother-in-law's manuscripts and realizes that Emma still has a lot of talent as a writer. Using her Walsh powers, she sends the manuscript out to publishers. One of them reads the manuscript and loves it, signing Emma on to do a 12-novel series. Emma becomes so popular among mature women who read her novels and love them. She has a tour all around the country meeting w/ her adorning fans. After a few months on the road, though, she realizes that she really misses her life on the farm. W/ the money she earned from the books, she buys back the farm and returns as the loving mom and grandmother that she always was.

----

I think I got all the vets. Sorry this crap is long...I got carried away. And if any of the writers on ATWT are reading this, feel free to use my ideas. We'll just say that you all came up w/ them. ;)

Anyway, I think the writers do need to wake up and realize that viewers do want to see the older characters in storylines. It's not that difficult to come up w/ ideas...that's what those losers get paid to do, right? And if I can come up w/ storylines in the matter of 15 minutes, they should be able to do the same.

Brilliant, James and BarBar back together:D

I'm sure that the minute I hand those proposals in, P&G would be like, "We'd like it if instead of using those characters that you'd use Carly, Jack, Paul, Emily, Meg, Katie, Simon, Mike, Jade, Will, Gwen, Casey, and Maddie. Thanks girl!"

I think the main problem w/ the writing is that none of them know the history of the show. I'm not saying that I could write The History of Oakdale myself, but I don't think that the writers even bother to watch the show.

Brilliant, James and BarBar back together:D

I'm glad you like it. I figure that if I could reunite Kim w/ her reformed rapist, James and Barbara could easily get together. Besides, it sucked that they scrapped a James/Barbara/John triangle back when Hogan was HW. I was dying to see that.

Plus, I thought that people would like that, as a result, Paul was off the show, since he's annoying now.

I vaguely remember this. I do remember Nancy taking dancing classes after her husband's death. Ugh, I'm really having a mind block...usually, I'm good at remembering stuff like this. If this took place during the B/S years, then I probably blocked it out from my mind, like I did w/ the rest of their tenure on the show.

Anyway, tomorrow I'm going to go to the experts: I'll call my aunt and uncle who have watched ATWT and GL for over 40 years. I'm sure they'll solve the problem; otherwise, I guess it's going to be a mystery.

I would love to see a storyline where Worldwide starts feeling the impact of globalization and loses bids to competitors who've taken advantage of outsourcing. THAT is the kind of social issue soaps should tackle. Lucinda would have to struggle with the option of outsourcing, or risk losing Worldwide.

I actually don't like any of the storylines you proposed Ms. Walsh :-\. No offense, but we've been there and done that with the vets. Bob and Kim don't need to break up again (and what's the point if they get back together in the end anyway?) They're the core of this show. Same with Babs/James. Why do they need to get married *again*? We've just had 5 years of EvilCrazyBabs, I like where the show is going with the Softer Side of Babs. And Lisa's storyline reminds me of Dr. Decker/Susan. I'd rather have Lisa marry a permanent new character and have it go awry some other way. ATWT has done "new character goes insane" to death in the past 5 years.
