And no, I don't mean totally from scratch. But take this idea that popped into my head... a soap does a week of mysterious/explosive things starting on a Monday, leaving huge cliffhangers for everone in the cast. On Friday, all hell breaks loose. The following Monday, a year has passed and the viewers will slowly discover what's ensued in the past "year." There could also be a big mystery tying things together. I think it'd be interesting.

I've thought about this many times. In fact, during Melaswen I thought it would've been neat if everythin since Kristen Blake left the show had been a dream that Kristen was having.

I thought of this kinda thing for AMC. Say, Bianca returns to town. She meets a mysterious woman who has amnesia and sets out to find her identity. Throughout the week cryptic phone calls are made to Erica. As this is going on, Opal and Palmer get word that their son Petey is very ill. It is revealed that Julia, Jamie and JR killed Greg. Dixie and Tad reconcile. Babe takes off to look for JR, who's run off. Bianca and the mystery woman get an ominous phone call and take off as well. Their car crashes with Babe's as Erica Kane realizes who's on the other line...

And Monday, a year has passed.

Well, it's not starting over but has any soap ever done an April Fool's episode? You know, an episode where everything you've been waiting to happen happens: all the misunderstandings suddenly get explained, all the bad guys get caught, all the people who are with the wrong person suddenly see the light and get together with the person they're supposed to be with, mixed up doctor's results get found out, etc.

Episode ends with "April Fool" and the next day picks up from the day before as if none of it ever happened.

GH? I remember there was a stink one year about the April Fools Show never airing. I think that was when Sarah Joy still played Carly.

I'm not sure I could watch if soaps started over like that.

I would hang up a sign that says "The Following writers not allowed: Megan McTavish, Robert Guza Jr, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley"

I definitely wouldn't watch soaps then. There would never be any solid storyline.
