I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but I find the Emerging Talent category a bit peculiar. Since past nominees and winners are ineligible for future consideration, doesn't that mean the category will have an entirely new slate of nominees every year? The Academy must be awfully optimistic about the pipeline of emerging talent to sustain a category like this year after year.

What's also strange is that there's no age limit. The only requirement is that performers must be in their first contract role in daytime. So technically Meryl Streep could decide to join a soap opera tomorrow and qualify for Emerging Talent. Yes, I realize that's an extreme example, but she'd meet the criteria.

I understand the intention behind the category, but the eligibility rules seem oddly restrictive in some ways and remarkably broad in others. Just seems like a strange way to define emerging talent.

It's funny because the "guest actor" award lets prior winners keep nominating themselves for roles they've played for years! It's such a joke.

I'm not quite sure why they didn't just keep this as a mixed gender younger actor award. The nominations still skewed that way anyway which was fine, because technically I guess someone like Clifton Davis could have been nominated as Emerging Talent.

Honorees CAN be inducted at a separate ceremony. It will eventually be on the NATAS website.

Per my communication with NATAS/Smitthouse Strategy, any person nominated for Gold/Silver Circle can opt not to be recognized during the year in which they are nominated. They can divert the recognition to the following year. All honorees for the 2026 cycle were recognized on stage at last week's ceremony.
