I wish their replacements the best. I hope one of the first things they do is get rid of Ron's pet Leo and to try to bring back at least 1 or 2 of Sonny, Will, Paul or Andrew full time.

THIS.

I would love to see a proper Will/Sonny/Paul triangle.

What was it again with NLG? The Julian story?

Who knows? It could've been any number of things. The Julian story, while I didn't love it, had not gone off the rails by then. The dagger/murder attempt thing (designed to write him out) didn't happen til 2016 IIRC after Ron was gone.

Thanks. I guess NLG has never talked about it.

@Errol or @janea4old Does this mean that DAYS is going to employ non-WGA headwriters?

So, now Y&R, B&B, and DAYS are all written by non-union scribes?  That's pretty wild a year after the strike.  It seems like a step backward for collective bargaining.  Personally, I'm more offended by that, than whatever RonC has done for the past few years.

MEET THE NEW HEAD WRITING DUO OF "DAYS OF OUR LIVES"...PAULA CWIKLY & JEANNE MARIE FORD...

a867ca621065f580372f7179552ff6585088b2c5

Paula Cwikly was a production coordinator at NBC in the late 1980's, and later was a writer/producer at CBS from 1989-1991, responsible for on-air promotions of "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful". By 1998, she was NBC's director of daytime programming. Her first writing stint was at "Sunset Beach" in 1999. She started her "Days" career as a breakdown writer from January 2000-March 2002, when she was named head writer of "Days" on March 29, 2002, She spent a year as head writer, with her last episode airing March 6, 2003. Cwikly then returned to her role as breakdown writer from March 2003-September 2003. She wrote for "As the World Turns" from 2004-2005 and "The Young and the Restless" from 2006-2013. Cwikly has been nominated for 7 Daytime Emmy Awards, winning twice (2005, 2011), Paula Frances Cwikly was born on April 29, 1961 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

Jeanne Marie Ford credits her love of daytime dramas to her grandmother. "My grandmother lived with me growing up and she was a big fan of 'General Hospital' and all the ABC shows...She kind of got me hooked on soaps. Then when I was in high school, my best friend got me hooked on 'Days.' (via https://www.heraldmailmedia.com/.../so-are-the.../117186840/) She first worked on the "Days" staff in 1992 as an unpaid intern and soon after became the show's writer's assistant from 1992-1996. She moved back to Marlyand from 1996-1999, and then re-joined "Days" as its continuity coordinator in March 1999 and became a full time staff writer (switching between breakdown writer, script editor and script writer) beginning in 2000, leaving in May 2007. While away from "Days", Ford wrote for "As the World Turns" and "One Life to Live." She returned to the show as a breakdown writer in October 2008, and, since then, has worked as both that and a dialogue writer. She has been nominated 11 times for Daytime Emmy Awards, winning 3 times (2012, 2018, 2022). Jeanne Marie Grunwell was born on April 26, 1971 in California. She is married to James Ford and now uses her married name professionally. Ford, who is based in Maryland, also works as a college English professor there.

Thanks for some of the background info, Jason!

Wow! This is pretty shocking......not that Carlivati was fired (which is to be expected whenever there's a new EP), but that his replacements are Cwikly and Ford.  I enjoyed most of Cwikly's (and Brash's) tenure was HW and thought they got the shaft when Higley replaced them.  Glad to see Paula get another chance.  Ford has been with DAYS for so long, approximately 29 (non consecutive) years in total, working at basically every writing position except for HW, until now.  I hope Janet, Paula and Jeanne will be able to work together to create a great show.  They've all known each other for decades, so hopefully that's a good sign that they have a great working relationship.

I could see Carlivati joining Y&R, or even going back to GH, as a breakdown writer.  I honestly would prefer him as HW over Griffith.

Ron isn't going to GH. They have a different plan in place.

Thank you for that tea. :)

Maybe I don’t have a dynamic enough imagination anymore, but I just can’t see Carlivati’s style and sensibilities being a fit for Y&R. Less so than the other soaps.

He's not a friend of Steve Kent's, so I can't quite see him there tbh.

Fi-Core or "scab" does not mean they aren't part of the union. They are still paying members and receive representation. However, they've lost the right to vote in the union elections and are not eligible for awards contention. That doesn't mean the shows themselves can't be nominated for WGA awards, but their HWs can't be part of the nominating/winning team.

So we won't even get to see their work until 2025?

You know what.. I say dump the last few months of episodes and start over again.   The money that has been wasted keeping that talentless hack on the soap for 7 years would be way more then just dumping some of the episodes that were filmed.

CWIKLY/FORD JUST THE SECOND FEMALE DUO TO BE HEAD WRITERS OF "DAYS"...

New head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford are just the second female duo to be head writers of "Days" in its 59-year history, joining the duo of Margaret DePriest and Sheri Anderson, who were the head writers for 632 episodes from April 19, 1982-September 21, 1984.

IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!!!!!

This has to be the best news coming out of Days of Our Lives since it was announced A.A. was OUT as co-executive producer. The exit of the "writer" was long overdue. Several years, in fact. April 2025 is when I'll likely come back to viewing this soap, because it's been unwatchable since February 2019, when Sheri Anderson's material was last factored in. Being nine months tape-to-stream is ridiculous and needs to stop.

Last of names I suspect to be dropped in the coming weeks/months: Blake Berris, Jackée Harry, Emily O'Brien, Greg Rikaart & Robert Scott Wilson, and I suspect the Last Blast crew will be returning by the year's end.

He's never going to The Young and the Restless. Just know that. It's not happening.

Ron has issued a statement.  If leaving was his choice I think he would have come right out and said it.

I still contend he's going to Y&R.  Someone above said Ron isn't "friends" with Steve Kent, but Steve ran both Y&R and Days for Sony for many years and clearly had a say in Ron's tenure on the show. Steve just joined YR as "executive in charge" and already one days writer was hired (Dave Ryan) and Marla Kanelos returned after 12 years.  We know Y&R must improve if they want The Gates to succeed. It's hard to believe they won't oust Griffith.  Execs love Ron because he can write a compelling bible; it's just that his book only has about four chapters that he rotates.  Back from the dead. Wigs, drag, doppelgängers, baby switches.

Given the Days new HW stories start airing in April, when does Days current Peacock contract expire because it's possible Ford and Paula are there to write the end of the show. They have to be cheaper (pay scale) than Ron.  Ford lives in Maryland and has children and as far as I know teaches. She's never been a HW before.
