Stability was the word during the week of May 13-17, 2024 as each daytime broadcast series was mostly on par with their week ago performance in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating.

As for Total Viewers, the first half-hour of “The Price is Right” (3.716 million) saw the biggest week-to-week increase, adding +78,000 viewers. Conversely, “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.530 million) saw the biggest week-to-week decrease, losing -103,000 viewers, which also marked the show’s third smallest audience of the season.

“General Hospital” (1.902 million) saw its first week-to-week uptick in six weeks among Total Viewers, marking its best performance since the week of April 22-26, 2024. That said, the show remained below two million viewers for the fifth consecutive week and the 11th time overall this season. The show was flat with its week ago performance in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, remaining ABC’s top daytime show in both categories.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of May 13-17, 2024 in Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their performance during the comparable week last year. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly.

The numbers above are calculated using Live+Same Day viewing and DVR playback, defined as 3:00 a.m.-3:00 a.m., and are courtesy of Nielsen. Household ratings are the percentage of TV homes in the U.S. tuned into television, each representing 1,250,000 homes as of the 2023-2024 television season.

Beginning August 31, 2020, national ratings include Out of Home (OOH) viewing. Previously, ratings did not include OOH viewing. Averages are based on regular telecasts.

Summary (Preemptions/Schedule Changes)*

  • Nielsen did not report any preemptions or schedule changes for the week of May 13-17, 2024.
  • Due to last year’s WGA strike, “The Talk” aired repeats from May 12, 2023, through October 6, 2023. Year-over-year comparisons are based on repeat airings which do not factor into the show’s season average.

The increase should have been MUCH bigger than that, which should tell everyone at GH something about the appeal (or lack thereof) of Chase and BLQ.

I'm not so sure about that, lol.

But the wedding would have been a perfect occasion for a literal bloodbath, courtesy of our friends at the Pikeman Group.  Instead, the only death we got was Gonzo's, and even that turned out to be underwhelming.

    • I should say a number of people do enjoy the season 9 and 13 finales. I get the appeal of the 9 finale. I just do not like the storyline.
    • Neil Wade was Doug's son and ran the Wade bookstore, which lived on until 1980 when the Dobsons had it destroyed in a fire. Irna was still headwriter. She stayed until early 1970. He had been losing his eyesight for months in the story. He was killed off in mid 67. That lead to Penny quickly marrying Roy McGuire to gain custody of Jimmy, Roy and Sandy's son. That caused conflict in the Hughes family as Sandy was married to Bob. Doug was also killed off in 67. Irna loved to pile on the tragedies. Penny left in 68.

I really should because that would be fun, I just need to figure out how to do that on here haha. I see people doing it in the BtG threads all the time and always wondered how they do that without saving photos to their computer and then uploading them - that just seems like it would take a lot of time.
    • Most definitely; twenty-two, to me, is the perfect number. Oh God.

Shanice is a physical therapist? YES! This gets her more involved with other characters and since Bill will be her patient, she'll be down to Fairmont at his house and in the middle of the mess!   @Antoyne We'll be seeing more of her!
    • AGREE.  IzzyB stupid? Any examples spring to mind? It's been many long years back but I recall her being pretty astute about the men in her life, for example. She didn't take a lot of crap off of powerful men. Also it seemed to me she didn't suffer fools, at all. Now, Brady, sometimes he seems to be like the Scarecrow, no brain installed, other times he possesses smarts. But, honestly, he doesn't resemble anyone he's related to, IMO.
    • IMBD claims Nina Kramer and Rory Kramer are the same person - they/them identify as non-binary.
    • People often underestimate how popular and commercially successful MSW continues to be - even to this day. The initial DVD release sold well, and it would never have gotten the blue ray box set treatment if it wasn’t in demand. Many shows that people swear are popular never get that treatment (because they don’t sell well).
    • GH:  - Rory Kramer first listed as Director on June 10   It looks like he's a music video director, though he hasn't directed a video since 2020.
