I liked Eric and Brady’s conversation today. It’s always good to see Brady confiding in someone about how he feels he failing as a parent. It could be used to play into future story and I like that. I also like how the conversation turned to Holly and how they both feel that she’s lying about something. Eric being weaved into that could lead to conflicts between him and Sloan and that would be great to see.

I also love that Brady stepped up and agreed to be Jude’s godfather… and saved him from Leo

Mixed feelings about EJ/Stefan though. I don’t mind EJ being a villain, but the problem is he was written as so petty and bitchy today. A villain should never be petty and bitchy because it never works. Just ask Clyde and Konstantin

As for Ava/Harris, I see Steve is still shy about showing off that body during love scenes lol which begs me to ask, why put so much work into it if you’re so shy about showing it off?

Drake/John's tears today were a um...choice?  He spent half the episode with 2 tear tracks down his face lol.

I know Sloane is awful, but, again, she is not wrong for being upset Nicole is hosting their baby's christening.  It is weird and inappropriate.  If Eric wanted Holly to be a part of it so much just have her help with the planning instead lol.

Ej/Stefan are boring.

So I know Brady/Eric consider themselves brothers, but does Brady consider Carrie his sister?  I know Belle does, but I can't for the life of me recall a Carrie/Brady scene since he was a child.  That has nothing to do with today's show, but I was just curious.

I thought it actually did have something to do with religion..or Kelly Monaco lol.  I swear I remember hearing Steve was a born again Christian and didn't like love scenes anymore.

I recall an interview with Steve where he talked about going on morning television after his Playgirl pictorial in a vest with no shirt.  Maurice Bernard made fun of him, and told him that nobody would take him seriously as an actor if he dressed like that (because the 'craft' of acting is so important to MB, give me a break).  So, he eschewed shirtless scenes in order to gain more respect.

Also, the makeup department would've needed overtime pay to cover those awful tattoos.

Agreed 100%

It's okay to look older at this point in the game. She's fended off Father Time for decades. So much so I could almost believe Marlena's 2005 pregnancy LOL. Almost.

But seriously, when I started watching in 1995, with Deidre at 47, I thought she was mid-30's and I was trying to calculate how she was the "mother" of Carrie Brady, who seemed to be early/mid-20's.

2.3/10

North Korea?  I was amusingly stunned when EJ mentioned Stefan going past the DMZ. It's quite a marvel how the Salem airport seems to offer direct flights to Italy for coma patients and even to North Korea! Perhaps the DiMeras have their own private jet, but it still leaves me wondering how EJ managed to arrange for Stefan to travel to a country that doesn't accept US passports.

Despite that, I must admit, the dynamics between the DiMera brothers never fail to intrigue. Watching their bickering alongside the camaraderie between Brady and Eric was both fun and clever. Their weekly debates on what might upset Stefano in his grave are particularly rich, considering their own resurrection experiences. And as much as Brady and Eric may lack finesse in romance or business, their unwavering support for each other is heartwarming.

On the flip side, I can't stand how Eric treats Sloan. His audacity in questioning her reluctance to have Nicole host the christening is baffling. Could it be because Nicole's past actions, like kidnapping baby Jude not too long ago, have left Sloan understandably wary? It's hardly surprising that she'd prefer a bar with bad chowder over husband's former lover and her legal foe as hosts for her son's party.

Yeah, who knows?  I know he said on GH had gained some weight and that's why he didn't do love scenes.  I swear I remember hearing he became a born again Christian when he got married maybe?  I don't know if that applies now since they are divorced though.

I honestly feel like Deidre looked younger in the 90's than she did in the 80's and looked the same until age until about 2013 and I am not even exaggerating.

I recall the same thing, but that was later than the Playgirl issue.

Fun fact, his ex sister-in-law (whatever you call the wife of your brother-in-law) is Melissa Ordway (Abby Y&R), because his wayward ex-wife is Justin Gaston's sister.

Which is stupid, because even Jesus knows when you're just playing a role on television.  (I try not to judge entertainers who profess to be Christians, because I, too, am a Christian, and there are lines that I will not cross, but they really try my patience sometimes, lol.)

Like I think I said in another post, if taking off his shirt and performing non-pornographic love scenes on a daytime soap opera is a problem for Steve Burton, then why the hell does he keep working in this genre?  Just go do faith-based movies for GAC/PureFlix!

It's easy for Maurice Benard to say that.  Last time I checked, no one was clamoring for him to take HIS shirt off.

Look, I could understand needing to be taken seriously as a performer.  That's why you (or your reps) set limits: "yes, I will take off my shirt for love scenes on my show - but no, I will not, under any circumstances, show up for a personal appearance wearing nothing but a thong!"

Oh yeah.  I mean, the man dated pre-fame Tara Reid for two years, I doubt he always had such pious views lol.

Agreed.  I know I had this conversation about AS on GH and the fact she doesn't like love scenes out of respect for her husband.  Even though the reasons are different it just makes me think this is the wrong genre for you.

Steve Burton had way too much power on GH and got way more say than he should. To be fair though, I could totally see Days hard passing trying to film and choreograph a love scene with a man with a serious gunshot wound.

Exactly.  And if I've said it once lately, I've said it a hundred times: Steve Burton can miss me with his "I won't take off my shirt or do love scenes because Jesus!" b.s., when the Bible clearly states that a person is NOT supposed to tattoo any part of their body.  You don't get to pick and choose which parts of the Scriptures you live by; either you live by them all, or you're a hypocrite; and God, according to the tenets of the Christian faith, does not like a hypocrite.

Maybe I’m being shallow but I’m a firm believer in, “When you got it, flaunt it”

Somebody really should’ve told Mo that no one would take him seriously as an actor if he mumbled

It’ll probably be back in the top 10 tomorrow

    • I have to be honest I’m really struggling with this show. I love everything with Eva/Leslie/Ted/Nicole/Kat and enjoy Dani and Bill’s shenanigans (I’m on the Hayley needs to be recast train now tho), Chelsea is second to Kat as my favorite Dupree grandkid and I loved her coming out to her mom. The show was on a truly great run with the big Leslie and Eva reveal at Nicole and Ted’s anniversary party and the fall out has still been good even with the unnecessary Ted recast and them making Leslie kind of dumb by exposing herself too much unnecessarily. The real problem for me started when they rotated back to way too damn much screen time for Derek/Ashley/Andre (if anyone should have been up first for a recast it was these three IMO). They tried way too hard to drum up drama between Ashley and Derek and the actors were clearly fighting for their mediocre charisma less acting lives to make it work but none of it landed, just horrible. Naomi and Jacob and this weird homeless woman story are also BORING. I can see where its potentially going but IDGAF at all, my only hope for them is that they’re building a triangle with Naomi/Jacob/Kat because Jacob and Kat have stronger chemistry together than their current love interests (Eva is the only one who can make the awful Tomas work). Martin, his secret and still cringe worthy acting got kind of interesting with Bill dropping hints to Smitty but they completely lost me with that lil fakeout scene at the country club. The lame “teenagers” (air quotes because Samantha is no Bianca Lawson and never beating the black Andrea Zuckerman allegations) can get off my screen as well. Joey creeping on Vanessa is grossing me out at this point, I actually quite like Vanessa and Doug now but Joey falls totally flat as a villain and someone we’re supposed to buy Vanessa being enamored with. I’m glad they’ve finally set up something interesting for Vernon and Anita to do with this girl band reunion instead of Anita wringing her hands and telling us she feels darkness coming and Vernon giving a civil rights speech every episode but yeah… People who’ve posted with me for other shows know I’m not one for fast forwarding or hate watching either, if I find a majority of a show is not working I usually just quit but because of what this show represents for me as a Black male soap fan I really want to stick it out. Its just become a challenge lately. I saw Guza has left the building and I REALLY hope we hear about some more BTS changes. The additions of Tracy Thompson and Jamie Giddens don’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence from me tho. Honestly praying hard for a new EP to replace JHC, a lot of the stuff that annoyed about her PC and AMC runs has started to match up here. I’m giving the show through the Summer to rectify some things but IDK how long I can hold on tbh. Its been a struggle to even finish some of these episodes lately.
    • I agree. I liked the episode but it felt jarring to suddenly return to a bunch of plots that had been put on pause since the Nurses' Ball started. Although I did like Laura popping in at the end to tell Alexis that millions of dollars have suddenly disappeared from Ace's trust fund. One set of scenes that made me feel optimistic for the next few months were between Sofia Mattsson and Rory Gibson. While Rory has been good as a darker, colder Michael this week, I was worried that he might not have much range. But he really warmed up with Mattsson, and I thought that (for the first time) Michael and Sasha had some genuine chemistry.
    • Next week is going to be such a sad time... I just feel it based on what was shown today. I'm wondering if the whole John being bandaged thing being a throwback to how he first arrived on the show was a Ron C idea since it just seems as though this would be something he would come up with.  If so, it's good that Cwikly/Ford are in charge with the implementing of the idea instead of him. Just a delayed thought from the Ciara scenes earlier in the week, or last week.. and how she had an odd way of dressing/acting.  I chuckle because little Ciara did say that she admired and wanted to be just like Kristen when she grew up.  So the fact that her outfit choices are so odd/off beat and her manner is a bit OTT just fits.. especially since Eileen's Kristen had an odd sense of fashion and that frantic OTT undertone to her delivery. With that said, a part of me wonders how Eileen's Kristen would have handled the scenes being done this week in regards to John's situation.
    • My god the smirking was back in full force today. He almost started smiling after Johnny mentioned he wouldn’t be there if EJ hadn’t raped Sami. I will say I did like seeing him with Dee as they’ve always had great chemistry.    They really are giving a lot of false hope with John getting better. I wish they hadn’t done that. Monday is going to be devastating. I really liked all the characters mixing and mingling today.  Nu-Rachel is still too sweet for me. Loved all the flashbacks. Everyone looked so young. Really enjoyed Brady’s scenes with John today.
    • Valerie Mahaffey Dead: ‘Northern Exposure,’ ‘Dead to Me’ Actress Was 71 Loved her. I've never seen her Doctors work.
    • Valerie Mahaffey Dead: ‘Northern Exposure,’ ‘Dead to Me’ Actress Was 71 I just loved Valerie on my early '90s TV shows. This one gets me.
    • I assume they did at some point during the finale...
    • Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
    • I think one of the reasons that pilot didn't get picked up was because Vicki L was associated more with being Thelma Harper and playing older then she was playing her own age.  It was a blessing it didn't get picked up, or we would have been deprived of the syndicated era of Mama's Family.   Also, worth noting a Pre Night Court Marsha Warfield and pre Perfect Strangers Rebecca Arthur in the cast.  All talented women, but stuck with a bad script. And the other pilot had a pre Fran Fine.. Fran Drescher as the best friend.  I think that pilot might have been picked up if Karen Valentine and Fran Drescher switched roles.
    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
