DAYS OF OUR LIVES Moves to Peacock From NBC on September 12

All 14,000 episodes will not be available on Peacock when it moves to the platform exclusively next month. I don't care how WSJ or FOX News wrote their article, that's not what NBC said in their PR and that's not what they are saying behind the scenes right now.

According to NBC, "For the first time ever, all new episodes of the 58-time Emmy Award-winning drama will debut on Peacock daily with the show’s robust library already available to stream for Peacock Premium subscribers." They go on to say, "The historic move to Peacock creates the ultimate destination for daytime fans to access the library, new episodes and Peacock Original 'Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem' in one place."

This means fans will have access to the library of episodes already on the platform, all new episodes released by Peacock starting September 12, plus the two seasons of "Beyond Salem" as long as they are a premium subscriber to the service.

Deals are still being made and discussed behind the scenes, and news will be released very soon to clarify things, but I'm told as of right now nothing is changing right now except the show will no longer be available on NBC or NBC On Demand for those viewers who watched it that way. I'll have more on this later today.

Also, regarding 14,000 episodes:

It's mentioned in the "About Days of our Lives" section of the PR. Some interns writing for FOX/WSJ decided to misinterpret that to mean that 14,000 episodes of the show are currently available on Peacock. Not the case at all, obviously.

There isn't much incentive for viewer to get peacock. The library they have now is pitiful nonexistent. I really wish they could start from scratch but it was obvious it was never possible.

I understand those saying DAYS might go to 3 times a week when this contract expires.

My question is how they hold onto actors if they do that? How can cast members earn a living with a 3 times a week show?  Honestly, the way Ron cycles actors in and out now, it’s amazing they keep coming back.

Maya Frangié was the DAYS publicist 2018-2021. Maya is now the Peacock publicist.

Lia Maiuri was announced as the new DAYS publicist in January 2022.

Not sure what specifically either of them is doing regarding the DAYS transition news.

All I can see is the official press release on the NBCUniversal Media Village website:

The only one that made a statement was Scott McKinsey.

Yeah, after they are done with the six months I'm sure cuts will be made. They'll have six months to do something different. I say say do Beyond Salem style two week stories that end and bring in different characters and do a different story.

Maya oversees Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem for Peacock.

Lia oversees Days of our Lives for Corday Productions.

Without saying too much, I will just reiterate that there are other people involved in this situation that weren't before. That doesn't mean the current team isn't involved at all though.

    • It's always hot when he's onscreen
    • True. So it must be the heat.   LOL. Oh, you.
    • That's a lousy ad. They didn't even choose good headshots. That's the least attractive I've seen Gregory Harrison look in his entire career. He looked hotter on GH last year! And CBS would keep bringing over ABC or NBC actors (more often ABC) for their soaps, further gutting their identities. Sad all around. Of course, they are the only network to have more than one soap on the air, so who am I to judge?
    • He always looks a snack to me lol!  Yes Blue is his color for sure! Those arms of his are huge *must not think dirty thoughts*
    • Maybe trying to ramp up the nostalgia factor? The only original characters left on the show were Angela, Lance, and Chao-Li. But FC hadn’t been watched by too many since 1987 and the finale didn’t bring back any old living characters like Emma, Cole, Peter Stravos etc.
    • 5-13   That was kinda meh except for the coda. Liam figuring out that Hope knows he's dying. And ending it on that. Good acting.   Oh, Luna. smh. But I guess I do look forward to see how she expects to wiggle her way into Finn's life. And uh oh at Sheila and seeing the wheels start to turn again. Honestly, he's been looking like a whole snack the last few weeks. And I can't decide if it's just the heat here lol or if he's just been working out more than usual.  But blue and shades of it has been such a great color on him.
    • For the Nurses Ball, I don't like what GH has done in recent years having U/5 professional dancers in the back of all the staged numbers -- nobody we recognize but they are wearing medical garb wardrobe as they dance alongside the GH characters. I'd prefer to see only the GH characters dancing and singing imperfectly.
    • Oh that's a good point! I was saying only that I'd prefer that the product placement not be heavily featured by the cameraperson during a stressful scene, because it takes me out of the moment. I don't mind it being part of the background of scenes -- most of the time, I like it. I saw a similar tweet from another BTG viewer that said something along the lines of Tide being for when there is (emotional) mess to clean up...  and Febreze is for the calming after the mess.
    • These writers and Frank (especially Frank) have to go!!!
    • I remember the articles and fan letters complaining about Alfonso so I wouldn't be surprised if Alfonso didn't want to talk about her time on the show. She was probably used to being the fan favorite. She got a lot of flack for being the "Ana Alicia replacement" and that hurt her from the beginning.  It's odd that CBS would think that hiring Alfonso would lure Days viewers to the show, but they kept doing that to their daytime soaps (as did NBC with ABC actors) and it rarely worked.
