Sorry to hear about Neighbours...I've never really tried to get into any of the international soaps though, even though people say that are better then anything we've had in the US the past 20 years or so...

I doubt any streaming app, really gives a damn about CBS soaps, or else they would have tried to save ATWT and GL when they cancelled.

LOL. I didn’t watch much of OLTL at all but I clearly remember his meteoric rise and fall seemed to run parallel with MAB at Y&R. In 2008 there was widespread praise for both Y&R and OLTL; IN 2009 everyone seemed to be in agreement they were the two worst soaps on the air. And I clearly remember Carl your rants against him back then, it wasn’t til I have seen his Days work that know I understand and see why the hatred of him much much better.

Never saw his GH work but I remember there was a massive celebration on this board when he was fired lol.

I'm hoping that Days gets a new HW as it goes to Peacock. Just like AMC and OLTL did when they left ABC. I thought that both shows were better in their reincarnation.

GL and ATWT ended before streaming really took off, amazing how much has changed in the last 13-12 years. I know PlutoTV Soaps has been running for almost a year now but they’re only airing 2018-21 Y&R and B&B reruns. Who the hell wants to watch the last 3 years of either show?

Also Without Days, The Daytime Emmys will be a bigger Joke than ever!

Good or bad that show has some talents, let's face it the decay of The Soap Genre is a consequence of the Shrinking Competition and Budget, the less competition the less effort, that's why soaps have increasingly made less effort to be good entertainment, and Turning itself into the Joke it has long been said to be

Hearing more and more about how shocked everyone is about the news, hence the near radio silence. Right now I'm told things will remain status quo but to expect announcements on changes in the next 2-3 weeks as we get closer to the shift. Things are still being worked out behind the scenes despite NBC's shock announcement.

Days of our Lives will remain eligible for Daytime Emmys in all categories despite the move to Peacock.

As an aside, now I know why Peacock advertises on SON so much even though I myself don't use the service often. Last time I watched anything on it (and not on my computer to be clear) was several months ago when I wanted to see what happened on Manifest.

Excellent analysis. I think you're spot-on. It's going to be interesting to see what comes out in the days and weeks ahead. Will they halt production? Will contracts be suspended again? Time will tell. I wonder how long it's been in the works. To use a famous political quote, who knew what and when did they know it.

Dan Feuerriegel is the only one to respond that I have seen.

Speaking of advertisers... The Talk one on here is annoying me big time!

I'm confused by this comment because I first found out about it on Brandon Beemer's insta-story and Eric Martsolf also published a story.  Both linked to Variety in their posts.

I guess it wasn't a response, just a post, but they both posted earlier today.

    • I did some research and the story wrapped up with a caretaker responsible for Georgina's death who then  tried to do away with Laurie but a vision of Georgina spooked him and he fell to his death. So there was a supernatural element.
    • AI has it wrong. David was working as an aide at PV Hospital due to failing to save his brother's life and refusing to continue as a doctor. His true profession was revealed later. Edna had divorced him while he was in Vietnam and he had no reason to be in contact with her. He had no idea that he had a daughter.  Ruth was Ruth Martin, she was still married to Joe, not Jeff. He was not deceiving Ruth as he believed that Edna was his ex. The poisoning story happened late in his run and probably introduced when they knew Gleason was leaving. AI's interpretation of him as conniving seems to based on that short lived poisoning story and other misinformation. For most of 76 he was involved in the Ruth/Joe triangle to the point where Ruth was ready to divorce Joe and leave town. Joe had to have surgery, David operated and Ruth suddenly realized she wanted to stay with Joe despite all the problems they'd been happening. David then got involved with Christina with Jeff and then Edna as complications. And he arrived late 75 not 76.
    • Interesting that they started going into a supernatural direction with ghosts - I don't think they really did that before? I wonder if it was a response to getting put so late in the afternoon and I guess trying to appeal to that former Dark Shadows audience?
    • That makes sense then! Is there a place where you can read more Daytime Serial Newsletters? They sound very informative. Thank you

    • Yep. Access to the Vault works fine but upon downloading attempts an error message pops up.   Maybe it is just a temporary glitch.

    • Downloading isn't working at all.
    • I'm pretty sure this ep is  from Dec 73 From the Daytime Serial Newsletter Ian and Valerie Northcote are deeply concerned over Laurie's  life being increasingly dominated by hallucinations and fantasies about Georgina, the former owner of the house the Reddins recently bought and are now living in. Doreen Post (Linda Purl) was involved in that story .Perhaps she was going to be revealed as Georgina's daughter? Wonder how that story evolved and whether it was wrapped up before cancellation? and thanks to @skylark

    • Thank u so much! I love that show and the more I see of it the more I want to find more of it even if it’s just in script form. But that house and especially the room looked like Victoria Winters room from dark shadows lol  this was great find! Thanks
