I know Luis Alcazar was referred to as an international arms dealer and Sonny was in a tizzy about guns on the streets of Port Charles back then.

He probably does force everyone to sell his coffee though.  I think he makes a lot of money off his casinos as well and the bulk of his money and power came from inheriting Lily/Lily's father's money and empire.

LOL, I don't mind Jax being on the show but he's been nothing but a busybody lately. He doesn't have a storyline, he's just kind of there pining after Nina. I get tired of watching him try to endear himself to her. I do look forward to Carly's head exploding when she finds out that he blackmailed Michael.

If that's how they resolved this story, I'm truly disappointed.

This would've been another way to cleverly bring Sam and Dante together. They were definitely implying at the non-wedding that there was more going on underneath the surface with Dante than something that could simply be resolved in therapy.

Oh well, missed opportunity.

Cameron's hair is growing back hella fast. Joss is annoying. I had to roll my eyes at everyone asking for Jason's forgiveness. The dude is a hitman. It's not unreasonable to think he committed murder, especially when he was at the scene of the crime.

How can anyone root for Michael and Willow? Chase starts recovering and you can tell they're just standing around thinking, "Shoot, what about our relationship we've been hiding from him?"

I like how Avery is safer at Carly's house, where she and Jason are running the mob, than with Ava.

It does feel like his days are numbered. But who knows? The show could definitely continue to cut some dead weight and they have Mathison incoming ...

Meanwhile, onto the show ...

I like the Ava/Nikolas drama over this 'stalker'. Is it Hayden? Spencer? It does get tired seeing Ava in misery but I would probably do the same, lol.

I also like the Portia/Jordan friendship. Wonder what happens when they start sleeping with Curtis and Taggert ...

And speaking of Curtis, he even makes Jason somewhat likeable. The man is a treasure. I could be down for their 'friendship'. It could get interesting if they remember Drew was Curtis' BFF before he died and got a new face (allegedly)

I like Brando and Sasha but they really don't need to be on contract. I'd much rather see TJ and Molly. Sigh.

I appreciate the new directions they've taken characters in. Sonny/Nina (no chemistry but the drama potential is fun to think of), Carly/Jason/Britt, Sam/Dante, Maxie has her fire back (sort of) ... I also like the twist on the baby switch. And Finn killing Peter with Liz helping him cover it up. I just wish Liz still had more of a POV. The scenes with Jason helped a bit. More of that please ...

I also like Shawn/Alexis. I know folks were annoyed he wasn't released from prison yet but they gotta build them up

And Josslyn/Trina/Cameron have so much potential but all they seem to do is tread water. I love though that Trina has other connections like Ava and Laura. Cameron USED to have scenes with Laura ... I could use a break from Josslyn, truthfully, but now would be a good time to re-introduce Spencer ...

The show has potential when it's not catering to Frank's pets or other agendas.

I never quite cared for Jax but I certainy have always defended his place on the show as, not quite a counterpoint to Sonny/Jason because he was never allowed to be written that way, but at least as one of the few characters who was not worshipping at that Church and called them out on some of the "antihero is actually a criminal" BS.

But knowing how much IR is a you-know-what IRL has completely dulled my even remote interest in keeping him around.
SB and MB can afford to behave badly because they are too big to fail. But producers do NOT like public drama so if there is someone who is going to pay for the mess that GH was on social media during the pandemic, I'd easily see IR being the one to be cut - after a reasonable period of time so he can't say he was cut for his opinions or what not.
They'll definitely keep him around at least until the fallout of the Mike/Nina story though but if they are not inspired by then, I wouldn't be surprised either if he went.

I have to assume we are not near the end of the Mike/Nina story AT ALL if they are sending Avery back to Carly for now. The renewed custody battle was going to be an interesting subplot of when-Sonny-gets-his-memory back so it'd make no sense for him to return anytime soon if Avery is where she was all along.

I don't know how I feel about the pacing of that Mike story. I get why it needs to take time to make the ensuing revelations and fallout explosive but the momentum has been entirely lost for now. I am willing to buy Nina/Mike for the plot potential but they shouldn't try to sell it to us as a real slow-burning romance if the chemistry is middling at best. Just accept that you are pairing the characters only because it leads to juicy conflicts and be done with it.

I definitely see IR as being on the chopping block.   He's on, but he doesn't really make an impact.   There is no inkling the show is re-pairing him with Carly and his Nina stuff was a bust.   I can see keeping him around for the Nina/Mike stuff, but not much longer.  The show had no problem canning him in 2011 when he was in the middle of several stories and we knew a lot less of his off screen personality.  I would absolutely keep him over Easton,  Howarth, and Mathison as Drew because he's Jax and has all this history.   Unfortunately he's been pretty useless for years riding of late 90's and early 2000's popularity.

I like Sonny/Nina.  Not because they having any real romantic heat, but it's something different.   It weirdly makes me like both Sonny and Nina as characters more even if it's all fake.  I think the pacing is weird because we have to see CW and MB so much due to contract guarantees.  Nothing real happens for days at a time, but there they are.

I need something to happen with Cameron/Joss/Trina.   There needs to be some romance or happiness because they are all so miserable.  I wouldn't be against bringing Spencer or Emma back.

    • I can forgive them not writing a lot for Quint/Nola at Van and Billy's first wedding, given that Lisa was hugely pregnant and the other story going on was Tony's medical crisis. But yeah---Nola and Quint barely even speak to Van for that last year-plus. Not even after little Billy's born (although Nola and Van do have a nice scene, which is one of the few that they're just nice to each other) or the fallout of Van's addiction, and they flippin' leave when Billy's in a coma or right after being in one)  Even Henry goes to story Siberia. They gave them a big, new set and the promise of some Billy/Van/Nola/Quint family squabblin'--and NADA.  How COOL would it have been to see Nola side with Van and put Reva in her place? But no...NOLAROBICS. RME. Reva really needed someone outside of Josh to tell her like it was. Instead, Billy's head cheerleader. And Jon's calling him "uncle Billy", which just about made me gag.
    • 5-12   Well, as much as i've been enjoying the highs of BTG, I guess I should try to play catch up on my other soaps...lol.   I actually liked this episode. But I guess it could be because I felt there was a lot going on. Bill and Liam's talk. Luna attempting them inroads with Finn. Steffy comforting Hope over Liam. Sheila thanking Bill for helping Luna. Even a decent cliffhanger with Steffy walking in on Luna and Finn.   I know I said it before, but I don't care for the Liam storyline, but the acting has been good.
    • I enjoyed Santa Barbara from the beginning. Mainly because it was so fresh and different than the P&G soaps I was used to watching.  But there is no denying that it did not hit its stride until 1985. The writing, casting and production all finally came together. Unfortunately backstage drama then slowly destroyed the show and for me from 1988 onward it was a completely different show than the one I was a fan of.
    • Oh, really? That explains why the reveal episodes...the majority of which Zimmerman did the breakdowns for...hit perfectly. Cool! I really loved that. Background music and all.
    • I guess I should appreciate Clifton's devotion to his craft, but this comes off as so pretentious. Nothing about Liam's story (or B&B, for that matter) is high art.
    • To me the product placement normalizes these folks. Your bound to see household products around no matter how immaculate someone's house may be.  I was just thinking about her as Yvonne on AMC. Yeah, would love to see her.
    • There's also the soap opera conundrum: once characters get everything they want, they tend to stagnate. Nola got everything she wanted. One of the things that was really interesting about her was that tremendous need for things out of her grasp. Once that was resolved, there wasn't much left for her to play. Maybe Long could have found something to replace that, but since she wasn't created by Long, she probably preferred to focus on the needy character she created: Reva. They were still significant stockholders. They could have punched back. Vanessa forced to team with the brother she resents. I can see it working.
    • She could have easily tied them into the Cottage Mystery...(they could have easily explained going on adventures with Bea, babysitting) The house that Tony and Annabelle lived in could have been the coachhouse of the property that Qualo and Henry live in, or at the very least Nola would have been totally in on ghosts and secrets of her brother's house. But they kind of just sat around for months.  The clip of Van and Billy's impromptu wedding shows how sidelined Nola and Quint became...Nola isn't even around butting in on them getting married, its all Reva (though it is a more interesting Reva where Mindy and her or going at it and insulting each other..THAT Reva was fun.)  I loved it when those two would go at it. Somehow they could have resurrected that antogonistic relationship and not have Billy worshing at the throne of Reva.  When they brought JC back on recurring they should have had him at least warn Annie about Jeva pulling her down..."Darlin' I love my brother, but when he has ole Reva in his sites he will drop any woman to try to win her back...and then he will get bored with her...she's like booze is to me and you...he hates it but he needs it..get out while you can!"
