We may have had a similar conversation before, and I said what I’m going to say now.

Nobody wrote like Bill Bell. Not even his own son. Definitely not Josh Griffith.

Watch an episode from now and watch an episode from 1991. Take the production and music away and just focus on the writing and characterisation, the psychology. It’s not even close.

I don’t normally speak in absolutes but it’s important to address this point.

Josh Griffith avoids drama, period.

While I believe Bradley Bell is a hack and long overdue for replacement, I will say his writing is still strong in its execution, even if the story-dictated dribble he's been forcing on us for the past ten-to-fifteen years has been subpar in non-quality.

Elizabeth Snyder, who was a "Days" breakdown writer in 2003, 2011-2012 and 2016-2021, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, a few days after her final "Days" episode aired.

Elizabeth F. "Betsy" Snyder passed away on November 9, 2021, after a brief illness. Born in 1961 in Buffalo, NY, Betsy lived most of her adult life in Pasadena, CA, where she had an Emmy-winning writing career. She is survived by her husband, Clay Marquardt, son Charlie and daughter Anne. She is also survived by her father, George L. Snyder, siblings Philip Snyder (Julie), Amy Snyder Doldo (John), George Snyder Jr. (Lidia) and Jane Snyder and step-siblings Catherine Luhr, Mary E. • Nicole is way too smart to not know she was carrying twins - she's a doctor! My guess is that Leslie did abort her baby out of fear, and as payback, stole Ted and Nicole's child (Eva), and stole Kat from another family to replace her in the hospital.
    • Those Soap Central profiles have a lot of incorrect info. According to SOD summaries and the Daytime Newsletter of the time,Tim left town for a new job and Pam reunited with the father of her baby and also departed Springfield. They did not marry.
    • Do we believe that Jabot is at the level of Estee Lauder?? I am on board with Jabot deciding to expand but the way it was handled was ridiculous. Jabot just decided and bingo, that was that. Not months of negotiations and decisions about how it would fit into the Jabot portfolio. And then no follow through. Josh thinks he's serving business stories by characters sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers and job switching. Now we have Audra setting up her own company -Vibrator or something. Well, why not? You don't need staff, office space or even products.
    • He a dirty dog! Those are his kids and he hurt everyone. At this point he needed to just come clean. I can't believe I was lusting over this man! I hope they aren't quick to forgive.
    • The way I took it is that he did not want to confirm or deny anything until he talked to Nicole first. He was very calculated with the wording he used with Martin and Kat
    • I still see Alfonso Ribeiro as Carlton when Martin gets angry.
    • Not that I want to defend Y&R's writers, but it's not as absurd as you'd think and I believe they plucked it from reality (and then bungled it). The Estee Lauder Companies purchased Tom Ford's brand several years ago and I am willing to bet that's how Jabot came to buy Marchetti.
    • Loved the episode today. looking forward to the fallout. Nubian-Sheila looked fantastic, but I wish the writers would cut back on her overuse of figurative language. I loved the "fix yo mind ministries" line though. The background music during her fantasy confrontation with Nicole was epic.
    • Nothing makes sense on this show. I wish there was a garbage can emoji. That sums up 90% of the show right now.
    • You're welcome

Jane Wyman return episode was head-to-head w/ Cheers season 8 finale. Falcon Crest broadcast syndication began Fall 1986, which overlapped w/ Oprah going national. AFAIK cable broadcasts were Lifetime and Soapnet. I have no memory of cable broadcasts on TBS, TNT, TNN, E!, FX.
