Yup! Billy should only be about 27 and instead he's like what, 40? I hate when they massively age kids. Like Summer. Shouldnt she be around the same age as Faith? It frustrates me because then you have these characters that are grown adults that really should be like 12 and their parents only look like they're about 5 years older than them

Wow, i remember Victor and Nikki being off and on so many times but I dont recall them not being officially together at all for an entire decade! They must have had many brief flings during the decade then

Just seeing how two "classic" episodes have aired, both in April, and this discussion thread has more views and comments than the entirety of Y&R's original episodes thread for April. Either we are a group of old timers feeling nostalgic, or Y&R isn't that interesting to many of you these days.

And so when they actually DID get back together, no one was annoyed or bored or blah about it. They’d been waiting to scratch that itch for a decade, so the audience was ready to see this develop. That is literally what soap opera can do that no other form of entertainment can do. Why do these people running these shows not see this and capitalize on it?

I didn’t grow up on Y&R and was only 4 when this episode aired so I absolutely loved it and any classic episode. I didn’t start watching Y&R until about 15 years ago so I love seeing the vets back in some of their glory days.

I would’ve loved to see this in real time. I had no idea they were apart so long because since I’ve been watching, they’ll be apart for a few months or something and then get back together. I was so annoyed when Nikki married Jack, whom I much prefer her with, and immediately left after the wedding to go find Victor.

I watched the classic episode tonight and it was an absolute treat. Victor, Nikki, Jill, Dru, John, Neil, Jack...Miguel!!! This episode showed the best of soap opera. What a soap can be and what it should be. The production values were top notch.   The writing was par none. The dialogue was perfect. This is the Y&R I’d watch for half an hour before tuning into AMC. How I miss it...

    • A shame the Ben/Thomasina tease didn't go anywhere.  I didn't know until last year that they brought Thomasina back a few days before Quinn was murdered. I guess it's nice that they got those last moments of happiness but then you remember they never would have brought her back if they weren't going to kill Quinn off.
    • Very. It's VERY annoying, too.
    • I just remember Kristina coming on to her slightly and val freaking out
    • Not trying to be a contrarian, but I don't think the show needs a rival family.  Rival families have been over-done on soaps since the 1980s. And it might make the show too predictable.  I'd prefer they beef-up the have-not group with perhaps a couple of workers from the Country Club and one or two Dupree servants, joining the existing group of have-nots.  They could all know one another without being a real "family."  That would give the audience more opportunity to see Fairmont Crest life from the "backstairs."  To me this would be a far more interesting perspective than another wealthy family to rival the Duprees.
    • I wonder if that's why Valerie quit. I think some of the magazines at the time implied issues with Valerie and the producer, although I may be wrong. Painting Diana as going bad would have made more sense to me near the end of her run.
    • Carter & Thomasina were also stuck with a baby almost immediately and didn't get much to do after they finished high school. Carter's father was killed off and Marley drifted out of their friend group because of Jake. They left town after Carter's father died (of tomb dust!) and before Quinn died (unreasonably murdered by the Sin Stalker for dating Zack Edwards).
    • She most definitely would. And I would enjoy watching it! Yes, I agree, that was a very touching moment in her interview. It helped me feel much more connected to her as a performer. I also got the feeling from her, Live with DD, that she wanted to go deeper in conversation.
    • It really does feel like JG is getting off on torturing Shick fans.
    • That part I am not sure about, maybe Depboy might know?  The thing to remember about the show at that time was, it was so plot-driven and desperate that characters and their motivations changed virtually overnight.  There was a period of time where Diana Taylor suddenly became a bad guy and was in cahoots with Cameron Faulkner (toward the end of Valerie Starret's portrayal), which I HATED.
    • I'm going by clips so it's possible that the fan who did the editing made it look a different way than it was.
