Pam actually having a storyline, even reminiscing about her mother and sister's death, makes me kinda scared Alley Mills could be leaving the show.

I've been enjoying Quinn VS Pam! Maybe because we are all sick of the triangles, kids who cannot act, and rushed marriages?

It's been OK...I'm just tired of the fight of whose stupid picture goes above the fireplace. And it didn't make sense to me why Quinn would have a problem with Pam's wedding being at the house...they had been getting along for the most part and then out of the blue Quinn just starts pulling stuff for no real reason.

I am really liking what I am seeing of this new character Leo so far. I think that he's sexy/appealing and has chemistry with Steffy.

A complete rip-off. At least they eventually switched Xander from aspiring photographer to model. That's about the only difference, but they have been severely backburnerned for months now which is blessing.

I'm enjoying Lope and even Steffy on the backburner.

I agree, but fear this story will build to some "shock" conclusion before the month is over and back to the back burner they go.

DAYS: February 2026 Discussion Thread

I think Suzanne tries slightly more than Deidre or at least fakes it better. It was less icy the other day, but both actresses were focused on SSH most of the time. The way Deidre and Suzanne were sitting though had them both facing SSH which was probably intentional lol. Must be awkward for SSH lol.
At this point it clearly is what it is. I don't think it's going to change. It's too bad because those scenes and the dialogue were quite nice.

GH: Classic Thread

Thanks so much, @DRW50. I always fear that I'm going on and on and on about Laurelton, but it's occupying, like, three-fourths of the show as a whole at this point in 1986 and it's just an endless array of kitsch. Well, not even kitsch -- it's just plain bad.
I've once again gotten my viewing done early, taking me up through Terry & Kevin's wedding, Jennifer and her goons pressuring Sarah to shut up, and Kevin finding out about Terry & Patrick's failed sexual encounter. I'll give my own commentary a little later, but I like your mentioning DL, who hasn't come up even once during my viewing. I think the show wants to pretend that he never existed, even though that would/should be a logical beat to play. For that matter, I have no real sense of Terry's late mother.
For all I know, Jessie's time off screen includes matchmaking for various GH staffers and/or patients.
The Jake & Bobbie stuff is especially sweet, although I'm now certain that he won't find out about her past until all the way in 1987.

So this was the first full year on TV, right? Was the show still going in parallel on the radio or did radio stop as soon the move to TV was complete?
I feel like the focus was already moved from Meta (and I guess also slightly from the Bauers) to Kathy, no? Most of the storylines were about her.
With Ray and Charlotte leaving the show at this point, I suppose that makes it everyone from the radio era is gone now? Were they actually in the show still by this point or were they just mentioned to be leaving? I am asking because in the records that I have from earlier, I had both Ray and Charlotte on the show by 1951, which is clearly wrong :D

Guiding Light Discussion Thread

I feel like doing a prime time drama type family on a soap is a mistake as daytime is created to have this sort of infinite story feeling for better or worse. We complain about these story loops, but really for many that’s life. We fall into patterns and even if we move past them we backslide.
There really should be a life continues on sort of feel to a soap finale rather than a resolution, as some of the joy of watching soaps is watching for years and there being no easy resolution because the story didn’t end after 100 episodes.

God, I'm so horrible that I keep thinking that Tyler Perry is fascinating from a self-hating gay perspective. Veronica in The Haves and the Have Nots is clearly his mother stand-in. Yet, Tyler, I'm sure your mom isn't that hateful. She's just a camp parody of the homophobic mother without much effort put behind her motivations.

Also, why on earth are people watching Tyler Perry shows?

Too much focus on McMurphy's life (that dreary French doctor...), just too much focus on McMurphy, period, and I felt like they went overboard in reminding us of how terrible Vietnam was when we already knew that. There was a whole episode about some young soldier who was paralyzed and I just remember a lot of Robert Picardo screaming and I felt like someone had gotten their student film script sent through.
The fourth season is better, the story with KC is very moving, but again, so many repeated beats with McMurphy and her love life and all of her angst, literally every man in the cast being in love with her aside from Boonie (they must have run out of time).
I also thought they did Frankie dirty.
To me the two-parter where she went back home to see her dying father was a perfect conclusion.

@Franko Thanks so much for your newest recap. I look forward to these, and I appreciate how you structure them instead of just straight up summaries - in cases like this with the Laurelton story I know that would be a chore for you to put together. The Laurelton scenes sound alternately dreary and unhinged.
Did DL know about what Terry went through in Laurelton? Was that ever mentioned?
Given that we're just out of Valentine's Day, day I liked the focus on various couples. I agree that something is wrong when Steve only returns to prop a couple who only last for a year and he has no real connection with.
Bobbie and Jake had such an unhappy end and were yet another soap couple tarnished by constant baby stories, so I am appreciating their happier days here.

Oh stuff like China Beach does occupy a weird space in time. The Vietnam war certainly did push a lot of shows that weren't necessarily that mainstream.
Also, Dana Delaney has a great plastic surgeon. She looks amazing to this day.
