Jonathan Bennett is returning to daytime next month, playing the newly created role of Joe Fitzpatrick on “General Hospital.”
“We’re so excited to have Jonathan joining our cast,” said the show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, in a statement released to Deadline, which first reported Bennett’s casting. “He’s a tremendous talent and will be a fantastic addition to ‘GH.’”
From 2001-2002, Bennett portrayed the role of JR Chandler on “All My Children,” following the exit of singer and actor Jesse McCartney. By 2004, he had become a household name, playing Aaron Samuels in the cult classic film “Mean Girls,” opposite Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert and Amanda Seyfried, who is also an alum of “All My Children,” having played Joni Stafford from 2002-2003.
In 2018, Bennett reprised his role as Aaron Samuels from “Mean Girls” in the music video for “Thank U, Next” by Ariana Grande.
With nearly 100 acting credits to his name, Bennett has starred in numerous Hallmark Channel movies, including “The Groomsmen” trilogy and “A Keller Christmas Vacation,” and as the host of such competition shows as “Finding Mr. Christmas,” “Halloween Wars” and “Battle of the Decades,” among others.
