There's just a certain emptiness I feel when I see MS chewing up scenery as Nina whining and crying about what she's lost. The possibility of her coma baby being possibly being alive, means that someone  already on canvas is her daughter, or they are bringing someone else in to be her daughter.

Nina's rotten eggs and anyone that came from said eggs are not and have never been necessary. She is a crap character and always has been.

Nothing against the Staff. She plays what they give her. She could have been brought in as a character related to the Webbers, Hardys, Spencers, Quartermaines, or Baldwins and I may have accepted her, even liked her. But she wasn't. She was brought in as a Craptini pet. They tied her to Franko, Silazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, etc. and "Ninny" has been a waste of space since. With all of her relatives dead, in jail. or on the run, her disappearance would barely register. (Much like when Franko and Julian were gone and no one noticed.)

As much as I want to invest in this Lucas/Brad and Michael baby switch, I can't.

1. Baby Wiley..... We know nothing about the birth mother, haven't met her, and all happened mostly off-screen.

2. The switch was originally supposed to be with Maxie's (birthing classes, etc.) until someone said "Oh wait, we did that with Maxie and Lulu...duh".

3. Nelle being away in jail prevents us from watching her toy with Michael and manipulate Brad. This could have been some great story. Instead we'll see Julian "Do anything for my son."   You know, the son that wanted him to have zero interaction with his child.

Michael has more chemistry with Harrison then he ever did with Nelle---just sayin'.

I actually have grown to like the Staff as an actress, but I would agree that her character on GH, Nina, was ill-conceived.  Ron Carlivati capitalized on the fact that the Staff's character on her old soap was in a coma, so he introduced her new character on GH as coming out of a coma.  At first, some viewers probably exclaimed, "Clever!", but now, since the actress is on contract and her character effectively has no past, how much can be done with her?  A good soap character needs a past.

On an unrelated note, I loved Maura West's performances as a really pissed off Ava.

On the 8/22 episode, we are supposed to believe that a super-savvy former WSB agent like Valentin had to hire Curtis to find Nina's lost child?  Why Curtis of all people?  Even if Valentin couldn't do it on his own, you mean to tell me that he couldn't find a private detective that doesn't know Nina personally?  I know, I know.  It's a soap and not real life.  I am glad to see the characters on the canvas interacting, however.  I just wish in this case, it was in a more believable way.

I dont think the actor playing Chase would do a gay role by some of his interviews Ive seen but I may be wrong

Are we gonna meet the birth mom of the baby that Lucas and Brad had adopted? Cause if we dont, why care about this story. Its just done with no gusto

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
