On the Genie front, any news? Ever since the announcement, Valentini has been skewered daily (and rightfully so) on Twitter and Facebook. Some of those comments are right on the money.

Hasn't she been talking about writing her autobiography for several years now? Maybe this would be the time to do so.

Again, such a shame. Genie should be to GH what Susan Lucci and Erika Slezak were to AMC and OLTL, respectively.

So, a couple of welcome backs.

THIS IS HOW LUCAS SHOULD BE USED ALL OF THE TIME.

Not only is Ryan Carnes attractive, but he brings some much needed life into medical scenes. He works well as a unit with JZ and LW  No offense, but both Griffin and Finn  and any day-player doctors are just sort of blah.

Also, welcome back to Asian Nurse---the one that appears on all four shows was running down the hall after Amy. By the way, where is Amy's hot brother. Is his story done?

I found this line weird, though..  "Nathan, this is Lucas Jones"  Why should Maxie's cousin use his full name while Nathan is looking right at him? I could swear they have been at at least one wedding together by this time.

This adoption story had better not lead to any convoluted  annoying baby story with Maxie and/or Nelle's baby. There should be no baby switch/adoption/anything for Maxie because this was done before and was overdone---just no.

Alexis doesn't really need to walk around propping Finn every day now, does she? zzzzzzzz

Peter is obviously Heinrich. I hope Frank didn't pull a Weinstein on Wes when hiring him. LW would NOT have that  LOL. Seeing many of his male castings since OLTL, it makes one wonder how many of them got their jobs...

+1

I bet Frank is absolutely hoping it blows over. And agreed. It won't.

Especially with Frank keeping Roger Howarth, William deVry, Michael Easton, Billy Miller, bringing back Steve Burton and just recently re-signing Maurice Benard. (All of these men signed new contracts in the recent months, IIRC. and deVry was even gone and then re-signed! Howarth was off-screen too)

Yet Rebecca Budig and Genie Francis are shown the door. Not to mention the times they tried to get rid of Rebecca Herbst.

If not for Frank's brilliant pairing (I'm being sarcastic) of Finn and Anna, Finola's days felt numbered.

We all blame Frank, and he deserves the most blame, but let's not forget that idiot Nathan Varni who really doesn't have a clue.

I am not entirely convinced that it's gender that enables a writer or a producer to deliver heartfelt stories to viewers.  I think it takes two elements.  First, giving a writer as much creative freedom as possible combined with listening to what viewers really want.  I think the current regime, as well as the one before it both had the problem of pushing their own agenda on viewers.  To cite an example from GH's early days where the early regime listened, Audrey's older sister Lucille had a romance with Al Weeks in the early 70s.  They were an older couple, but viewers really wanted to see spinster Lucille finally have a wedding, and I believe one of the kind readers on this site provided the picture of those two characters on their wedding day for other readers to see.  Even if it is hard to please today's viewer, it would be so worth it to try!

And ratings wise, the most successful time in GH history was Gloria Monty as EP.  I think those women (Wendy & Gloria) knew what women looked for in storylines.  Frank (and other men) give us storylines that men are interested in.  I wanted romance, friendship, family and love in the afternoon.  Current GH gives me none of that.  It's so beyond time for a new approach.  I really hope ABC listens this time but I won't hold my breath.

Faison should be quickly killed. That won’t happen, because we need more proof that Frank ruined this show. Jason and Anna will both walk away from chances to kill him.

These constant returns of villains are proof this show is a nightmare. It is not dramatic or entertaining or interesting to watch Faison again wreck someone’s life. The man should have been tortured to death many returns ago.

He absolutely needs someone with true power to keep him from his worst instincts.

When he first arrived as HW on GH the show still had the elevation of the Labine team but he added a sense of danger and mystery.  The Damian Smith murder storyline, Sonny/Brenda/Jax, Jason turning away from the Q’s, the return of the Cassadines and Nikolas’s arrival.  That was a fantastic run of stories.  It continued when he came back the first time.  But when Riche was spread too thin the show did suffer, and he was fired.

When he came back, he only seemed to truly care about Sonny, Jason, and Carly with Luke as the final corner of his plot square.  The show needed that balance from before.

    • Yes, they did.  I still have them.  I think there were three.  AMC and GH as well.
    • Ah okay, thats what I thought. I was hoping I missed the announcement somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.
    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.
