LOVE most of it! The diamonds falling in the background of Nikki's shot, the champagne glasses clinking in the background of Ashley's shot (ironic since the bish can't get a love interest), it's giving me LIFE. I like the paint stroke effects and the background shots related to the character posing. My only criticism is the very generic font used throughout and the fact the "The Young and the Restless" text is so high up for the title card instead of being centred on the screen, And the reuse of the headless woman, if that was a motif they wanted to keep they could have easily reshot with one of their countless female starlets rather than use a shot of Michelle Stafford from over a decade ago.

I don't understand why Mal has turned up the harsh white light. This show is about glamour and wrinkle/bag free.  The close ups of all the actors (except Eileen) are terrible.  They all look like they drank and smoked pot all night before the shoot.  Give us some filters.  I've complained about the lighting for a few months.  It's antithetical to the fictional Bell/Genoa City world.  Everything was glitzy, sparkly, soft, moody, wood paneled, Wisconsin and grand mansion style.  I hate the Santa Barbara/Sunset Beach look and feel the show has taken.

The transitions between the actors is not well done. They're too quick, there's no fluidity. 

 

The lighting (and I noticed this when these shots were just used during the interstitials) sucks. Makes everyone over 40 (and Melissa Ordway) look run down.

 

And Mishael Morgan's section is obviously a video that's been reversed. Bad, bad work.

 

Other than that I liked the very beginning and it's not the old opening which is something.

As much as people hate this opening there's no question that real conscious effort was put into it. It came out in 1999 but looks like something from 1990 but at least they tried.

@RavenWhitney Speaking of lighting, to me, it seems like the exterior shots look better than the interior shots now, on the show, I mean.

 

Remember when the exteriors used to look like really bad CGI?  The scenes with Sharon in her car or Devon being transported to the emergency room have better lighting than most interior scenes now.

The new opening is so bland. The editing is really bad. Don't get me started on the lighting. It looks like it belongs to a Crystal Chappell web soap!

 

I floved the late 90s 'p0rn red' opening credits. 

 

Does this mean Melissa Ordway is here to stay?...

I like it more than their last opening. The only thing that gets me is, as others have said, it feels very web-soap. It also feels like something fan-edited. And given that MTS has actually aged pretty well, they make her look ancient, like a First Lady from 1953.

I still like the sax/red/p*rn opening. How hilarious to see CG there as a child - I forgot she 'made' it on the opening credits.

I like the new credits in that they've added more actors to the opening - nine, compared to previous version, which usually had six. Plus, all the actors look good - a welcome change. Now, let's work on those stories....

      Today's show was completely meh to me. -- I'm frustrated with the Articulettes story. I know it's early, but we've had countless conversations between Anita and Tracy, and we've learned nothing specific about what happened.       Yes, Sharon is "the angry one," but why would Anita agree to go on tour and talk to Sharon without even discussing those past problems with Anita? It makes no sense. -- We're supposed to feel bad for Chelsea and her unrequited love, but I still think it's a problem that no one's mentioning that she wanted to break up a marriage.      She spoke today about the "3-way relationship," but we never saw her invested in the guy in any way, shape, or form. She wanted the woman. She needs to get with someone who isn't damn married or in a relationship.  -- Another Hayley pregnancy? Already? I'm not crazy about the timing on this. Honestly, I wanted fireworks with the Hayley character and not watching her walk around with a big belly and then a stroller. -- Tomas is still painfully awkward, although I do like looking at him and I love his voice. I also think it's strange that he and Kat are having conversations that every other couple would have on their first or second meeting.      Haven't these two been seeing each other for a couple months? It's as if they know nothing about each other. -- I still dislike almost every fade to commercial, and it takes away from the scene we just saw. It's like putting a comma at the end of a sentence instead of a period -- these fades do not make a statement. It's clearly intentional, but I will never get on board with whatever it is they're doing.

      It's interesting that LIAMST got cancelled over LOL or SS , both of which rated lower. I guess other factors came into play.

      Based on the preemptions above, I think I have figured out the one wrong item, and learned a new piece of history in doing the 1973 sleuthing! All of the preemptions matched except for 4 shows (Love of Life, Search for Tomorrow, Young and the Restless and Gambit) which each had one MORE preemption than expected. Checking on Watergate from 10/3/73 (since all 4 of those shows have that date list as the common one between them), there was a bomb threat called into the Watergate committee, which made the morning session get called off shortly after 11AM, and then after a bomb search, they started the afternoon session an hour earlier at 1PM. So, based on that, I am removing 10/3/73 as a preemption date for those 4 shows. CBS looks like they wrapped up commentary quickly after 11AM and aired the 4 shows (Love of Life would be a partial episode).       @Errol there seems to be a malfunction in quoting that started happening a week or two ago.  PersonA posts something.  PersonB quotes PersonA and replies.  Then PersonC tries to quote what PersonB had quoted, and the *result* is that the original thing that PersonA said, becomes quoted as if had been originally said by PersonB. For example - PaulRaven posted on prior page this  (Link to PaulRaven original post) Then I myself janea4old quoted PaulRaven and replied  (Link.to.janea4old.quote.of.Paul.Raven.and.reply) Then @j swift tried to cite my PaulRaven quote, But the result was that PaulRaven's words were attributed to me janea4old.       *** Sorry everyone, I don't want to derail this thread, just wanted to post what happened on the page where it happened so that Errol could see it in context. J_swift is not to blame.  My theory is that this is a messageboard technical glitch.  I've seen this happen several times with various posters on various threads over the past week or two.  Quoted quotes being misattributed, and it happens with experienced posters who usually don't err in this way.  So I think there's a technical glitch in nested quoting.
