How long ago was that taken? I see Tamara Tunie (ATWT), I think I see Angell Conwell. I see Tonya Lee Williams. Hmm, interesting. I'm going to keep my thoughts about this to myself for now and just say, 'Gee, interesting photo'.

It even looks as though they got Phil Morris in there. Boy, they really brought in several characters (and their portrayers)  from out of the margins.

I guess they didn't want to be accused of being #CBSSoWhite.

I'm not enjoying the show right now either, but I'm willing to hang in there to see where things go. It's not that the show is slow as much as the canvas is just so *weak* and uninspired right now. There are far too many nothing characters and charisma-free, listless actors hogging airtime. This is a show that has had vibrant characters like Dru, Olivia, Mamie, HT's Victoria, AD's Diane, Jill, Katherine, Nikki, and Nina. They were played by captivating actors. I was excited to watch these characters, even if they weren't in brilliant, front burner stories. They were bold and indelible. I just liked spending time with them, seeing what they'd do or say next even in small scenes. Just watching Diane and Nikki spar was a thing of wonder.

I'm just not excited by Nick, Sharon, AH's energy-free Victoria and her kids, Billy (who is being damaged with every recast), Cane, Lily, and Jack. I want to like Devon and Hillary, but they are a one-note snooze. Ashley and Ravi just feel like filler. I need Michael and Lauren to find some of their '80s/'90s ruthlessness again. I need GT's Phyllis to be sexier and more cutthroat. The less said about Chelsea, Chloe, Kevin, and Abby the better, but Sally doesn't seem that interested in them. Mariah could be a fun sarcastic, ballsy heroine, but she's being written like some beleaguered '90s working girl sitcom character.

I just don't care about the show or these characters right now. But this show has been so thoroughly gutted in the past decade that it would be near miraculous for Sally to salvage it. But who else could do it? She's our last shot.

I agree with a couple of your comments, but not most. I do understand where you're coming from, though.

What I do have a problem with is your overall tone, which casts a gloomy pall over the entire show. It feels like you're at a funeral, describing the last sad months of someone's life. I simply don't think that's a fair assessment, and I don't think it's a correct one.

So I either have to accept them as "exciting must see tv" or not??? Without explanation or nuance???

Forget it. I'm not answering biased questions that give you the answer you want. I know you pretty much hate everything on Y&R, and I'm not playing that game.

    • TPTB are dragging out the Alexander Dumas reveal way to long.  We really aren't any closer to knowing who he is than we were months ago when his name was first mentioned,  I really don't mind a lengthy soap opera plot, in fact I kind of prefer them.  But this is crazy.  Give us some hints, give us some red herrings, give us some cryptic evidence.  And for God's sake, show us who he is.  And it BETTER be good...   But knowing this head writer, I don't the reveal will be anything exciting.  Just another outside force coming into town to cause trouble.   I hope I'm wrong.
    • The only Camden kid I liked was Mary... and I don't know if Jessica Biel would want to go back to playing that character or not.
    • I've been liking the writing for them lately. Positioning them, and Johnny/Chanel as the two main, frontburner couples was a really good idea.
    • I've never cared for Xander, and I find him and Sarah so boring together.
    • I think in some ways the story could have been stronger because Wendy and Stephanie had a more nuanced mother-daughter relationship and Lisa Peluso could act, but I don't really think Louise worked as Stephanie, so the impact wouldn't have been the same.  That would be a better way to bring drama than another serial killer story. And Sarah probably would have snapped and Jo would have been held hostage again... As someone said above, I do wonder why Philip Brown didn't last longer. Then again, I'm not sure why Kevin Conroy didn't last longer either.
    • That thought crossed my mind too but I really don't want Kate to cheat on Roman

And Paul Telfer does it so well
    • Bored or just bored with story or character: Ashley Derek Pamela Vanessa Doug Joey aka Jon Lindstrom....he truly sucks in the role. The gambling set, gambling story hate and bored with a passion. Dani and Andre in bed every five seconds.....yawn! Diego the fitness guy....yawn!! Today's show, minus Kat, Eva, and Jacob/Leslie sprinkled in, was very boring!
    • Is Ashley/Derek really arguing over a damn scratch on the fridge?!  MVJ, get rid of both characters... NOW!
    • I do think Vanessa was lesser than Reva and Alexandra in those runs, but I think Long also gave Vanessa a centerpiece on the show she never would have had otherwise, and she did bring the character back (I know Maeve had only wanted a break but if Long had not wanted her to return, she wouldn't have returned).
    • Well, Catherine Hicks did say once that the only way she'd agree to a reboot is if started with Eric's funeral. I used to love this show when I was little but I watch it now and all I do is roll my eyes. The writing was so heavy handed and honestly, the Camdens were a bunch of pretentious, judgmental snobs
