My problem isn't with Reed paying for cam porn, but for using Victoria's credit card to pay for it. He's computer savvy, and I don't think he'd stupidly risk being caught.

Amelia Heinle is doing just fine as the frazzled, overwhelmed mother pushing ridiculous punishments on her teenage son. The actress isn't uncomfortable; she playing a mother who's clueless about mothering a 15 year old.  One month with no music or TV or guitar or computer or leaving the house? WTF???

i don't understand Devon backing Mariah with the Gloria story at GC Buzz. If he hated Hillary doing unvetted gossip, he wouldn't side with Mariah when she did it.

I love Eileen Davidson, and she's the last one I think of when I hear "phoning it in." If she has any problem at all with the Ravi story, I can't see it.

And what's the big problem with 40 year olds using the word "fad" (as in "online dating fad")?  I don't get how that's such an antiquated word. Billy and Phyllis aren't 12 year olds.

All in all, I'm loving the show and these days and look forward to it 5 days a week. I'll take Sally any day if the week over these other bozos we've lived with for a decade or more.

Because CI doesn't really exist and with Neil's history with NE, it may be a good spot to have Devon use the business skills he's acquired while putting him in a broader setting. Maybe even bring Neil back there. Although it has been bizarre than NE has hardly been featured during the past two months.

It wasn't the word fad, but the concept that online dating, which has been around for 20 years, is a fad. It's not.

Devon, the billionaire, relegated to working for Newmans? It's insulting not to mention terrible optics. The only way it would work is if Devon lost all his money and had to work to feed himself. More bad optics.

While I'm not overly fond of GC Buzz, I do understand why it's needed for Devon and Hilary. The show refuses to give neil his own company and he's the only person it makes a lick of sense for devon or Hilary to work for. I even like how they've made lily a model and Chelsea a fashion designer. These young folks whose last name isn't Newman or Abbot that the show will never allow to marry into those families  need an independent career away from those companies that can also be tied into the cosmetics industry and storylines. It seems the show has a few lessons learned from the Neil character that's being applied across the board. Cause after 25 years of working for these people, he has nothing. I hope they turn devon into a full on media mogul with his own empire.

OT, the show has also done the right thing by not making Mariah into and playing her as a Newman. It shows me they are looking towards the future. They've got nothing but a bunch if Newman babies on that show. By keeping her separate, they'll have offspring around that are connected to canvas but aren't related to Katie, Johnny, or Connor.

That whole scene was stupid. Someone with Phyllis' history judging this guy for talking about his ex and asking if she had mental health problems. Like...you are a legit crazy person, who are you?

And Billy being this rapscallion is feeling very forced. I'm just tired of him already.

They could have made a REALLY interesting story about social media with Reed but instead we get a story from 1996 of him stealing his mom's credit card when in all likelihood he'd be getting nudes on Snapchat. These people know nothing about modern technology.

I agree.

Also I'm gonna block you if you don't get the devil out of your icon.

Online dating has been around in some form for about 20 years now (match.com according to Wikipedia.org was founded in the early 1990s), so calling online dating a fad sounds ridiculous, especially coming from anyone who frequently uses a computer. Had it been coming from the mouth of Victor Newman, it could've been a tad less ridiculous.

The writers are truly showing their age with that scene, sorry.

And why would Devon work for Newman when they can't even get Noah to work there??

Unless they plan never to mention CI ever again on this show, what's the problem with having it exist as a viable corporation?  I thought folks were tired of Jabot and Newman being the sole corporate entities in Genoa City?

If Genoa City is truly a midsize city and not a small town (as people have told me repeatedly in the past), wouldn't it makes sense that there would be more than one 'salt mine' in the city?

Originally, I thought Lauren's story was all about hightlighting a different family business besides the Newman's and the Abbott's. Maybe I was wrong? Do people actually want to see the writers beat that same ole horse, over and over again??

Again, I ask...what is wrong with making Chancellor Industries a viable company on the GC canvas? Is it budget concerns? Because we all know that the excuse of Jess being unavailable is nonsense, right?

Jess Walton only went into "retirement" because they stopped writing for her/wrote crap. She WANTS to be there, that's clear. Because whenever she's there she puts all of her scene partners to shame. Watching her try to act against the three stooges (Billy, Victoria and Cane) is like watching Meryl Streep share a screen with January Jones. Laughable.

I think fans are open to it. The problem is TPTB at Y&R. It upsets the hierarchy they've put in place for their lead families. If you've got other families (Fenmores and Chancellors) running around that town with just as much money and power then Newmans and Abbots ain't so special afterall.

And, i think for some, wanting Devon and Hilary working at Jabot and Newman is less about those companies and more about thinking those two characters need to be in story or paired with Abbots and Newmans to get airtime and story...despite Sally, thus far, showing us that's not true under her Y&R.  BJ led the counts last month along with PB. But this thought seems to persist.

According to those keeping stats on twitter, BJ and MiM have appeared on the most of Sally's episodes. Hilary is getting good writing, tons of focus, played as a lead of her own story, been given an independent career, etc. Sally has point blank said she loves her and shown it onscreen. At this point, I don't know why. What else do people want? You're gonna have to explain it to me.

) Anyways... I did really feel disgusted by Eurovision this year and I doubt I'll watch this horrific musical torture in the future. My ears and my psyche will not survive.
    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
    • Today was painful (especially for Philip).  I still feel for Xander. He was clear he was happy sharing and working with Philip. It's just one more betrayal from someone he loved. Going back to last year when he found out about Victor and Fiona, then Alex and Philip. He forgave and tried. Then Philip went behind his back again. He's been walking on the edge for weeks. This is a man who was abused, neglected and has never had any therapy for his horrific past. He has zero coping skills because he's never learned them. I hate this but I refuse to hate Xander
    • Lucy Coe wasn't even this big of a whore.
    • Kate being the one that Alex called was a nice surprise. The cut to her looking all sheek made me instantly get excited for her to get back into business mode. And the Jack reference from when she first came to town (on-screen) was inserted naturally which is always welcome. When they were talking about how much sex sells, I almost got the impression they were sizing each other up in a May/December type of way.  All the Philip stuff was gruesome. I'm happy the show isn't shying away from Xander's ugliness. I love them both, and it just makes me intrigued for the aftermath for it all to be taken seriously. I cheered when Philip spat out at that Sarah knew the truth. I'm on tenterhooks for their eventual confrontation. I was surprised that Kate wasn't a little vicious towards Sarah for Xander's obvious behavior, but maybe that's still to come. How wonderfully entangled is it that both Philip and Shawn/Steve stopped each other from getting the drug. Both equally at fault. Who/what will ultimately save Bo? And with everything going on, is a Salem where it's looking likely that EJ is about to own the hospital imminent?
    • Oddly.. Chase and Steve seem to have both vanished from the canvas in December so the Estelle return loses impact when two of her kids stop appearing shortly after her return (and I assume TR leaves in early 1986 as well). The Steve recast doesn't work... but it's odd that he has a long scene with Teri with Cagney looking jealous.. when the majority of his time on the show previously was a relationship and engagement to Stephanie (who he barely has a scene with in the episodes I see). Your idea for Wendy/Bela/Stephanie sounds just like what Ryan's Hope did with Michael/Kim/Rae... and considering Louise Shaffer was playing Rae and Stephanie.. it would have been a lousy redux of a superior story on another soap (that had months of build-up) I think Quinn becoming assistant to Stephanie was Mayer/Braxton... but not 100 % sure. I don't know if Mayer/Braxton was setting up Sarah as a bad girl disguised as a good girl.. but the actress (Joyner) was playing the scenes in that manner.. and Tomlin wisely tapped into that when he took over.
    • She’s such a caricature - which is a shame because I think the actress is capable of so much more.   I don’t know why Cady often feels like she has overcompensated in her performances. She already proved she can play much more than just Dixie Cooley during her first stint at ATWT (her best acting era). Her performances in various roles since then have been quite strange at times.
    • It feels like the show suddenly woke up today and remembered it was Sweeps month. Lots of action and forward momentum, including a delicious Nina/Carly fight.
