Today was another good day. Not a lot of high drama, but some nice character scenes. Abby/Teresa/Anne was fun. I like that Abby is standing up for herself these days and not playing the sweet victim like Jen does.

Not sure if Paul is pretending to be a ladies man to hide that he's gay or if he's bi? Either way, Theresa and Eve both cracked me up today. I think it makes perfect sense for someone like Teresa to try to jump back into having fun. Those big green eyes of JL's serve her well as an actress. Just one look at Brady and you can see all the pain she's still feeling.

I was less sure of what Eve was up to. Is she trying to move in on Brady or was she there to make sure her sister wasn't going to jail? She seemed pretty impressed with Victor's mansion.

So this Paul guy is supposed to be confidential, yet Abby tells him "my boyfriend couldn't believe it that I didn't recognize Paul Norita." I mean she didn't exactly say she told him he was in the hospital but they way she said it made it seem like she told him she met him. I don't know, just one of those errors that kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I realize it was just a way to make it clear she had a BF, but they are making such a big deal about these confidentiality agreements that it is was kind of glaring.

So for the young adult crowd we have the late-college/early adult Abigail, Ben, Chad, etc. Then we jump up to Daniel, Nicole, Brady, Eric, Jennifer, Rafe? This show is in need of some characters in the 30s (or later 20s) range.

The show was so good during Kristen's first run then the fallout (initially) with Eric. Now they really need some better storylines.

I like Melanie and MB, so I'm probably biased, but it makes sense to me from a strategic standpoint. Sami's departure has left a HUGE hole in the show -- I'm actually shocked by how much I can feel it. They need familiar faces and popular female leads. Who are the options, really? Belle, Melanie, Chelsea, maybe Stephanie. Belle should be around, for sure. I actually wouldn't have minded Melissa Archer being a recast Steph, but that character never quite ignited. And Rachel Melvin just did Dumb & Dumber To. So Molly Burnett honestly makes a lot of sense from that perspective. She's a recognizable performer and character who has ties to a lot of the people currently on the show.

There's no way Melanie is a popular female lead. In Tomlin's mind, sure. I'm sorry but there was absolutely nothing special about Melanie. I have nothing against Molly Burnett. And she would have zero ties if the show wasn't centered around Daniel and they didn't force him as her father and Maggie as her grandmother, when she and Maggie had a fine connection, which is the one aspect of Melanie I actually liked (I do like her and Brady as friends actually, so there's that). I think there's potential for the character but she was so obnoxious. MarDar made me like her actually. I also liked her when she initially came on tied to Max and wasn't the grinning heroine the show revolved around.

I get what you're saying, I do. The reason Stephanie never ignited is because Melanie got Philip, Melanie got Nathan .... Stephanie was always the loser and the evil one against Melanie. Melanie was propped. Endlessly.

I'd much prefer Hennig or Melvin to Burnett. I think it says a lot that Hennig and Melvin are working on primetime and movies and Burnett came back to Days.

Burnett was on the show for four years and Melanie was shoved down our throats. Melanie should not have been a priority. You could make an argument for many characters that have ties to current characters. At the end of the day, they really don't have many younger people to go after for returns, so yes, from that standpoint, I see why they brought her back. Although I'm pretty sure Martha Madison would jump at the chance ...

Melissa Archer should have been Sarah. It makes so much sense especially since they're tying Serena to Melanie! I mean, HELLO! Sarah is Melanie's aunt. Sarah is Daniel's sister. Sarah is Maggie's daughter. HELLO TOMLIN! Although I guess they could still say Serena is Sarah, but like Teresa changed her name. And as an adult, it's possible Marlena and Roman wouldn't recognize her as Maggie's daughter and same for Eric. Especially going by Serena.

    • This better be something, because as I said, so far it's just cliches and stereotypes -- the story we've heard a thousand times about the homeless person who doesn't want a home and prefers to live on the streets.
    • @rsclassicfanforever thank you very much for the recent uploads of season 13 containing some episodes that were skipped or glitchy on YouTube!  I had a look at 3172 though and there is no audio for most of it? Would you have a copy with complete audio? Fingers crossed! Thanks again!

    • I like Margaret well enough in what I've seen of her as Paige - she is green but she has real star power.  I agree about the actor who plays Brian. He's...mostly just there. Not bad but not great.  My main issue is with the guy who plays Owen. He's just not appealing to me. I can believe Nola being obsessed with him, but he's draining to watch.  I'm surprised people objected to the quasi-incest elements as it wasn't anything that new for soaps.  Speaking of Kim, here's a rare episode of an anthology show she did called The Evil Touch.

    •   I get what you're both saying, and I think the show was lucky to have even made it that long, but I think they could have still maintained a certain audience - Second Chances did before the earthquake. CBS was an older network anyway. I think the premise of Knots was still usable, it was more the characters who were a problem - many of the older figures were played out. If the show had done a better job building up its younger cast instead of making so many poor choices in the late '80s and early '90s, they could have kept things going a little longer.
    • I wish I cared about the homeless lady as much as everyone else seems to. After the nothing burger that was the lawsuit, this just feels like another boring Naomi storyline at Orphy Genes since she has no office.
    • That's great to hear. Thanks. I wish that was more readily available.
    • Just learned that Clifton Davis wrote this song!  I had no idea.

    • I think even if Marland had wanted to write more for Sara/Adam, his hands would have been tied as Robert Milli was one of the actors dumped by P&G due to his age.  From the bits and pieces I've seen of that period, Sara does have a key role in the Carrie plot, and Marland briefly gave her son Tim a more important part. I'm not sure if they just gave up on Tim once Kevin Bacon left or if they never really cared. I did not even know for many years that there was an actor in the part after Kevin...and then not one, but two. The Spauldingfield video on Tim doesn't even show the last actor (Nigel Reed), which kind of says it all. Anyway, I do get the sense Marland has some use for Sara, or for Millette. It's only after he goes that she is dumped. Of course he didn't ever hire her for his other shows, so maybe I'm wrong. (then again he never hired Geraldine Court either and he seemed very fond of her) Ann is an odd character to me as she is a proto-Lillian in being defined by pining for a Bauer brother and being involved in the death of one of their wives. I do wonder what else they could have done with her. She was friends with Diane, wasn't she? They could have had Diane manipulate her against Mike, I suppose.
    • Yassss....come on Maurice and Brandon...give us nothing!!! Wow, their need to develop their craft shone like a blinding light this episode. Brandon in his Martin and Smitty scenes sounded like he was reading and the facial expressions were giving Disney Channel. He did much better against Maurice in the Martin v Ted scenes. Now, Teddd-dyy (Dana's voice) was just flat. I watched the episode just now after reading the comment on here that Maurice needs to stop swaying, and now I can't unsee it. Has it really been this bad all along?  Ambyr carries. I don't need to say anymore. I am kind of excited to see this Kat/Tomas/Eva stuff play out.  Bill is such a dick to Dani. Like that's the mother of your children that you cheated on with your daughter's best friend but you look to take those low blows. Lord! When he said that thing about it being obvious he didn't care about Dani anymore since he was the one that walked out...that was cold. I even felt for Dani. Bill definitely is all over the spectrum. You can see a villain possibly surfacing, but you also see this great father. The elder Duprees move a little funny. I'm wondering what that is all about. Are they just overly protective matriarch and patriarch because they think it's what's best for their family, or are they afraid their secrets will come out or there's something more sinister there. Why would Vernon want to keep that information from Martin?  I hope something interesting comes out of this June stuff, but as of right now, I'm not too invested. It's not helping my interest on Naomi or Jacob either. However, tge actress playing Naomi has comes a long way from day one.
