Y&R: New Head Writer

Did the whole "the actors must stay away from work to make change!" idea come from that Comeback episode where Valerie Cherish and the "young cool kids" all boycotted their new co-stars?

Well, let her tell you - Valerie suffered long and hard for that boycott. Everyone else loved the idea and she said no, because she didn't even boycott That's It when they had that episode making light of Rodney King and his brave struggles against...you know. She can't really say it. This isn't the place and she feels uncomfortable. Anyway, the point is, she put the mouths of all her coworkers and the mouths of the crew and the mouths of their family above her own. And she'd tell you that is a LOT of mouths. And some of them had really bad breath, but...that's not the point. The point is, Valerie stayed home from work and those sweet, wonderful little monsters (she doesn't mean that! She loves them! She remembers every birthday so don't you say she doesn't love them, she has the cards to prove it!) went into work and didn't tell her. That was the first and only time she EVER stayed home from work. She got cold stares in the commissary for weeks. She still wakes up in a cold sweat sometimes, because Inga was not the most comforting server in the first place, bless her heart.

Anyway, Valerie would say - let the kids run wild, because when it comes down to it, those wild, wacky kids, adorable and precious as they are, never have your back. And she has the tire tracks on HER back to prove it!

So Eric Braeden - who won third runner up in Most Popular Guest Star in the 2003 That's It Fan Site poll...don't do it! Do. Not. Do. It! Don't trust those crazy kids who don't know anything but how to have parties and ruin their hair. Just take Valerie's word for it.

PS - Valerie has so much respect for Jill. Older women in this industry do not have an easy time. They just do NOT.

And, PS to the PS...is Jill hiring?

Carl, I am clueless. What is this?

A brand new soap? We are talking about continuing Bell's Y&R. Don't you think there might be a difference?

Generations is not a brand new soap by any definition. That soap was on when soaps were in their prime and it flopped. She couldn't write then and her last Y&R stint sucked!

I don't understand why it got to be terrible writers for ABC. They couldn't even save ABC soaps.

Y&R sure going to be lily white now.

I'll never understand this myth that people like Jamey Giddens and Nelson Branco spew about Sally Sussman Morina and her alleged "talent." Based on what exactly?

The woman is a D list soap writer with bad to nonexistent track record of success. I can never say she would be better or worse than Pratt. The fact that both her and Pratt were in contention for this HW role just tells me they were looking for people at the bottom of the barrel to fulfill this position.

Not sure why anyone believes TIIC are trying to save these shows. The EP/HWs and FrankenRon are being charged with keeping these shows' heads above water until they can be sold and/or replaced. If I were trying to save something, one hack after the next would not be at the helm of my product. YR knew that PissAltman and those dreadful ratings a few weeks back were not acceptable.

They do that because JFP gave them the finger long ago. They are in bed with FrankenRon, which is why they praise everything this foul duo does. You will never hear a decent word about YR from either of the two. In fact, both were on Twitter just riling folks up about how bad Pratt was and how he destroys soaps. They are supposedly the Soap Press, but their behavior screams spiteful blogger kunts!

Aren't they like this toward anyone that isn't FrankenRon

Not sure, but they visibly dis JFP at every turn for the same thing they praise FrankenRon. I hear JFP shut them out and won't give interviews or the time of day. Guess she like the real press too!

I never was really impressed with Sally Sussman at DAYS best thing she did there were Sami execution episodes. The show tumbled in ratings when she took over for Reilly. It felt very different and the Gina story sucked. People praising her like she was the best of the best is stretching it.

Funny, aren't you like this when it comes to Jean and Cartini, and mostly every scenery chewing actor

I wish you people would get your facts straight before shooting off at the mouth like you actually know somethin. Reilly was still writing in october and november of 97 when the ratings actually did "tumble" a whole 1.0 less from the year before.

It's what he does. He's completely inconsistent and just wants to get a rise out of people.

I'm so so so sorry Y&R fans. This is just terrible news on every level. I can see CBS wanting B&B around over Y&R, which is strange to say. B&B is very solid in the ratings and Brad Bell has a death grip on that show. It won't happen anytime soon but the potential has been set for the show to be ripped apart and sent off into the sunset.
