The Young and the Restless SEPTEMBER 2014 Discussion

With a stronger actor playing the gay lawyer (can't remember his name!) that could have been the Adam redemption storyline! Adam strings him along for awhile, and Sharon, but the affair is revealed, blowing up everything in Adam's life. As he picks up the pieces, we learn that Rafe( that's his name!) has always been a bit unstable, has a dark history, and keeps trying to win back Adam's attention. He doesn't get what he wants, and decides to make Adam pay for using him. That's a year long story in Y&R pacing, and Rafe could go some major damage with the truth about Adam long before he goes Sheila on his ass.

But if the show had gone there, GLAAD would have put out the bat signals SO fast. They would have claimed Rafe sends a negative image of gay men as mentally disturbed individuals who shouldn't be trusted to behave rationally within society.

I'm a gay man, and at this point, I want to see all types of gay characters in entertainment, not just the nice guys. But I do understand why organizations like GLAAD have problems with this. I just want more than the best friend or assistant as my gays on TV.

No Y&R today (Sept. 5). Guess we'll have to wait 'til Monday to see what happens when Victor rolls away the stone and finds Phyllis no longer inside the cave.

Don't blame me, lol! Blame the writers and the bang-up job they're doing in whitewashing Phyllis' character. If it isn't Jack and Summer going on about her like Elton John went on (and on and on) about Princess Diana, then it's Victor kneeling at the cross -- excuse me, sitting aside her hospital bed -- willing her back into life. I truly cannot wait for these next several weeks, as word of her resur--, er, recovery spreads throughout town. Jack, of course, won't believe it's her until he sees the holes in her hands and feet. And Nikki -- all she'll have to do is touch the hem of Phyllis' gown and voila. Goodbye alcoholism, and goodbye multiple sclerosis, too.

I wonder about the other two actresses who played Sharon

Then you'll have the Latinos complaining why it got to be the Latin guy going crazy.

There is so much DRAMA here in these comments that it's unreal.

I'm not saying Y&R is perfect, but the crepe-hanging here is ridiculous. If you're THIS pissed off and upset, why the hell are you still watching? Get on with your life and think about Bill Bell all day.

I thought today's episode was a good one, from start to finish. Yeah, I lol at the Phyllis stuff, but so what? I'm used to dead or near-dead characters being treated more saintly. The Mariah stuff was good and Camryn Grimes was terrific.

The Nikki/Ian stuff was not embarrassing. Have you guys been watching soaps for like, forever? They've ALWAYS been like this.

I could go on, but there's no sense in fighting you too hard or too much. I'd just love to see the show some of you would write. When you bitch about everything as you do, maybe you should offer your own vision.

Tomorrow, you will hate Ashley. Next week, you will hate Shemar. Then you'll hate Meredith Baxter. Then you'll hate Justin Hartley as Adam.

Etcetera.

Other soaps may have always been like this but not Y&R. Y&R has always been a cut above the rest. This was horribly written and directed. by Y&R standards.

Yep.

I don't say this often, but even Megan McTavish would have done better with those Ian/Nikki scenes.
